Briefly, want to get a Z - twin turbo - and I need to know the mpg from people who actually drive the car. This has no doubt been asked before but I searched the archives and there were too many matches for me to process - so thought I'd just ask. I do about 120 miles per day, all motorway, as opposed to short sharp journeys. I searched the archive posts and saw people claiming 25-34 mpg - for a 3.0 TT I find anything around 30 and over difficult to swallow. I'm OK cash-wise and I can afford a low-mpg car (otherwise I wouldn't go for a Z :D) but need to keep a reasonable head on. I won't get a Z if it runs lower than 22-ish mpg (I'll switch jobs instead ;) )

Well, just got a report back from the mechanic who has been looking at the car this morning. The opinion is that the oil leak is the rear main oil seal. A mix of gold and red oil was found. Oil is blowing back through the starter motor and onto gearbox bellhousing. He thinks the job should take a day tops but is not in a position to do the job. Checked rocker covers etc and definatley no leaks there. Had to get the report third hand as I am at work, but I hope this makes a level of sense to someone. Any advise on how much this would cost to get done? Jeff, is this the kind of thing you could do on a saturday? TIA Regards, Brent

My car has been standing for about a week now and I have been expecting plumes of blue smoke to come out, but nothing, just white. Ever since I had my Z when I pull off I always get a small puff of white smoke and thats in, nothing else. I just thought that it was only moisture in the exhaust coming out. Now I still get the puff of white smoke when I pull off, but I have noticed it appearing when I am sitting in traffic. What could that be. Its not blue/purple/grey, its white. Any suggestions? Stuart

I'm thinking of getting an ASP underdrive pulley. Are they easy to fit? Anyone got one and know if it uses the standard belts? Seen them for $99 and for about 18bhp on a stock Z, more on a modded one it seems pretty good. http://www.aspracing.com

Any-one recommend the best non rip-off place to buy replacement discs and pads. Note: Replacing standard ones and retaining original alloys and callipers!! Any advice on grooved and/or drilled with matching pads would go down well. Cheers. Andrew

Hey all I've fitted a Stillen intake this afternoon :D but had trouble actually fitting it in the space. My zed's got an uprated oil cooler radiator jobbie (see attachment) which takes up more room than normal. The cone just sqeezed in but is pushed up hard against the top of the rad - I had to pull the rad slightly towards the bumper to let the cone in, now the rad's at a slight angle :( Is this going to create any problems? Any experience of this?? Problem 2 - getting the cover (with badge on) to sit straight -grrr! When the screws are tight it's wonky, when looser it rattles. It was fine before  . Otherwise - feels good :D, a couple of times wh…

Has anybody rewired the rear inner brake light up to use them as a fog lamp, mainly a conversion on j spec zed I believe. The reason I ask is that whilst fitting the veilside rear apron I can't be arsed to french in the uk fog lamps .I thought of using a diode inbetween each set of light bulbs on rear clusters and then route the foglight feed to the inner brakelight, so when fogs are on only inner lights work and brake lights work seperately. but when no fogs on both sets of brake lights work. If you catch my drift, or use a series of relays to do the job. whats the best way chaps??? yours one busy zed owner with it in more bits than I care to say so…

Whilst sound proofing my boot last weekend, I noticed that hour after hour of having my head stuck in the boot, I was getting high on the petrol fumes. Should it be that strong? I also notice a strong smell of petrol in the morning. I have tightened the usual screws and connectors but it seems the smell is coming from the back. And, whilst having some tyres put on the back on Saturday, the n/s inner arch had a wet trail going down it but I wasn't sure if this was the shocker leaking or petrol. Petrol consumption is the same, but there did sem to be a strange puddle under the n/s silencer the other morning. Any thoughts people? Is this the dreaded f…

I want to put a XVID film onto a DVD so I can watch it on a DVD player, but when I create the DVD the sound is out of sync and gets worse through out the film, untill the soundtrack for the film ends and I have the last 10 mins of the film in silence. Does any one know any good programs to convert DIVX and XVID films to MPG first? Stuart

Almost bought my first Z on Sunday. Found it in Trader on the net. It's in Greenwich & stay clear 'cause it's a dog & it's advertised as mint with mint leather interior, 45,000 miles etc... I rang the guy & talked about it. He said the leather was like brand new, no cracks or scuffs. I asked what the exhaust was like amongst other things as I'd heard how expensive they are. Apparently it was running like a dream. I told him I was from Leyland but I if it really was as good as he reckoned I was prepared to travel.( I didn't mention the wifes Focus got free petrol) He assured me it was so down I went on a 3 hour plus journey to find a cracked & scuffed lea…
