Andy

Featured Replies

yes, 1 chanel for each side which will go to your crossovers, then the 2 components will come of each crossover

what are crossovers ???

i'm new to this ICE stuff

Crossover diverts the mid-bass to the woofers & the treble to the tweeters ;)

Jay

do you have to buy these seperate from the amp or do some come as a set

ps where do you mount these crossovers??

Andy

You have to buy the crossovers seperatly, although some amps have built in crossovers, but this is mainly for bass. You mount the crossovers where you can. you don`t have to buy/use them, but ultimatly the sound is greatly improved.

hope this helps.

cheers.

mickeyb is right, but not in this context. The crossovers come with component speakers and the only they can really go is in the doors or possibly just inside the doors.

I assume by components you mean a speaker set of mids and tweets, or do you mean co-axils?

You simply put the speaker wire from the amp to the crossovers which then seperates the sound which is then wired into the tweets and mids.

Ontop of that just about all amps nowadays have built in crossovers which you want to turn to high really aswell.;)

Some nice looking speakers there, should sound good.:)

Have you decided which specifically?

The only place i could really imagine putting them is in the door but im sure you could put them in the car if you want. I just put a couple of strips of velcro on mine and stuck them to the metal inside the door.

The cross over is the little box in some of the pics by the way;)

these are my first choice

any ideas on an amp for these? Do i need a 4 channel amp(i may fit some subs at a later date

Do you connect the speakers to the amp then amp to head unit??

once i get all info i'll be ok

Expect those speakers would rule. Components really r the best.

Correct about headunit - amp - speakers.

A good thing to do would be a 4 channel amp, 2 channels driving those speakers and the other 2 joined together to drive one sub.

The only question is how far do you want to go with sub(s). You couldnt drive 2 subs and 2 speakers off the one amp really, it wouldnt have enough power for subs.

So if u just want a decent sub to provide the low notes a 4 channel amp could drive the system. If you think you want more your probably better off with a 2 channel amp for the speakers and another for sub(s).

Keep in mind a Z doesnt need an all mighty sub as theres no parcel shelf or anything between u and it.

ok so if i done away with the subs but still used the 4 channel amp would i still get a reasonable bass sound (wasn't going to put in rears) rock, dance and mixed music i listen to if that helps

Andy

To be honest i doubt you would.

Just picking up a small 8" sub would easily be enough though and could be driven by the 4channel amp.

Kicker compVR 8inch would be wicked and at http://www.mcs-direct.co.uk/acatalog/index.html its only about £63, cRazY!

Other than a sub you can only really get your base from 6x9's but ud be sacrificing the quality of the rest of the music and i believe they're a pain in the arse to fit, u have to cut the door etc or something.

would i only need one? it can only go in the boot so would i have to make a shelf for it or them???

can i email you a pic of what weve done in my dads GTO, it's been done very subtley and it doesnt take up any of the boot. I havent got round to doing it in me Z yet but i will soon, if you like i can always get 2 cut up at the same time( get the mdf cut at work :D )

by all means e-mail me

cheers Andy
