General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Chaps, Went to see a Z at the weekend and the Chap said that He'd disconnected the Air con, by cutting the belt, cos the pump was making a squeeking noise and hes said thay you lose 8 HP by driving the pump It's a very nice car but I would obviously want the air con to work. Can anyone give me a rough idea (parts and labor) what it would be to fit a new pump and belt as well as check and poss re-charge the system?? Has anyone tried this? My driver's side seat belt has failed again, so I need a new one. It seems like a good opportunity to replace the Japanese style belts, which anchor on the doors, for UK style, which don't. I already have the slots for UK belts in the rear panels, as I have a UK suede interior. Does anyone know if the hole for mounting the belt mechanism at the bottom and the upper mounting point are already there in an import?

Somehow I've managed to disconnect (or break) my ambient temp sensor when wiring my gauges up. The ambient tempereature is currently reading -86C so the air-con is useless at the moment :( I've used the A/C diagnositc to pin it down to the ambient sensor, but where the hell is it? :) All help appreciated as ever James

....wanted to play on the way back from the Pod - right up my a$$ comin off a roundabout. We both floored it and by 40 I was losin him, by 80 he was gone!!:D :D I thought these things were supposed to be fast low down:rolleyes: :D its amazing what a difference a rolling start makes....... The guy driving was alright though - he caught up when we hit traffic and flashed and waved when he turned off.

I hear the rear shocks on a UK car can be adjusted vie the handbrake..... How is it done.....?......Nothing in my handbook about it...??

i am having strosek wide arch conversion with veilside skirts, strosek rear bumper, bonnet bulge/vent, rear quad lights,high level paul bailey rear spoiler, unknown front bumper at present, all resprayed in hopefully a pearl lamborghini orange.(still not sure can anyone find me a lamborghini orange pic or perhaps reccomend a colour? very desperate. cheers ...lee

does anyone know where i would be able to get one of these from, and roughly how much? also, what does the sub fan cool? is it just the air con or is it anything more important? one of my turbos blew a while back and i think i remember somone saying the sub fan has some sort of role in cooling the turbos? is this correct:eek:

I started the Z up on Friday morning and I heard a clicking coming from under the bonnett, like a relay clicking but not constant, would click 4 or 5 times then stop, then click a couple of times and stop. This made the idle really eratic and went up to 2,000 down to 1,000 (engine was cold) then back up again I lifted the bonnett and then I managed to figure out that the sound was coming from the area at the back of the engine next to the ABS unit on the left (group of connectors together) I stopped the engine, went and fetched some WD40 and a small screw driver to clean up the connections, did that and the clicking went away, drove down the road about 100 …

Can enyone help!, I have the bose tape player and nissan cd/mini 3 cd's player in my 300zx as standard. Last week i tryed to play a cd and an ''E'' came up on the LCD display and then it all went off ( im guessing E stood for ERROR?). Now the cd player is dead to the world but the tape player works fine. I have checked both fuses and they are fine, checked the rear fuse (at the back) and this is fine, but it appears that the live feeds are the same for both units (i.e. looped). So does this mean my unit is nackerd, throw it in the bin and get a new one??? Thanks Tom

I was involved in a accident on thursday and i managed to mount a kerb at 50mph due to some shit head in a modified R5 GTT (still kicked his arse) Iv managed to damage both my alloys on the passenger side and possibly damaged the suspension and a bit of bodywork which was gonna be replaced anyway. This is not the most interesting of subjects but I'm curious to know whether Nissan intentionally put the wind breakers on the Z, to annoy the f*ck out of everyone that drove over 70mph with the targas out. Stereo off, 80mph, - why is there so much f*cking windnoise coming from this car. It's DC is almost less, if not less that the Calibras. Oh, Hang on, lets just pull this breaker down. Over 25% reduction in wind noise. I think I'll be whiping those babies out and storing them away for a long time. Anyone know where I can buy 4 grommits from? Do they have a real use anyway? P.S. Mega long shot but I’m off to look at a Z tomorrow (Sunday 17th Aug) in London just off the A3 nr Putney East Tube sta wandsworth SW15, I’m completely new to the game, but having just driven Cos’s wonderful white 91 TT Manual one last night I am definitely out for one. I was hoping against hope and wondered if there was the remotest of chances that anyone could come over to help me out looking it over. Its a 92 K reg Red UK TT advertised on the autotrader web site. I have just recieved a sh set of front fogs for my car but.................. they do not seem to fit am i missing something er? i have a 99 spec front bumper with the old set of lights in but when i remove the old lights the new ones seem to hit the plastic surround onto which the o:e lights fit!!! i know these are jap spec but so is the new bumper!! how can i remove this plastic surround thingy! cheers Dave:confused:

Since I sold my Z, I have watched the population of Z's in Peterborough increase to about 10-15, abit sad really as I was one of I think 2 in the area about a year ago. Anyway, i know one of these chaps that have recently bought a Z, his is completely standard spec. he tells me that he has dun 160mph (apparently still had sum left?) on an A road sumwhere.Is this possible? What is the Top speed that people have reached, no matter wot spec? D

Hi guys, I did have a silver twin turbo about a year ago but sold it in the end. Anyway, im considering buying another and need some tips on what to look for??

i have just booked my car in for wide arch conversion (early november) and i know i need a 10x18" wheel on back but what size offset do i need. people say get the biggest i can but roughly how big is this. also macca peter said i needed the wheel spacers at £250 are these from you. i know it will look stupid but can i leave the original wheels on till i get back from pps as i might not have got them by then. thanks for your help .......lee

Hi chaps/chapesses! I'm getting my swb TT de-catted, and after reading through the many, many posts (people must be getting pi**ed off with cat questions!) would I be right in assuming that it's best to chop the cat sensors off, feed them back into the chassis and earth them off inside under the carpet?? Hi all, It looks like ZedWorld, where I usually go, isn't able to provide prop-shaft centre bearing fitting at the moment. Can anyone recommend a garage that'll get this done for me. I'd prefer it to be in the south east (I'm in London), but I'm willing to travel - within reason - to find the right garage. Any suggestions/recommendations much appreciated... Cheers, Russ.
