Were airbags either standard or optional on any model of Zed

Hi Just wondered if anyone can recommend any decent garages in the Bristol area. I need my cambelt and tensioner changing ASAP, Before anyone suggests Protechnical i have tried them, and anyway they did it a year and a half ago and it is 4 notches out. There must be somewhere else in the area who can put a belt on a ZX!!?? Cheers Jim

Anyone on here tried binning their viscous fan and replacing it with a big leccy fan? Apart from bhp savings, my mechanic also reckons it'll keep under bonnet temperatures down better. Any thoughts?

Finally remap is done:) Its running fine at 1.3 bar, though when its cold it spikes up to 1.4. Depending on a couple of other mods it should be getting turned up a bit more:D And my word its ludicrous when you floor it in 4th from 100 (on a private test track obviously):D :D

Hi, I'm in the arket for a Z and I've been doing the rounds on this site, great info, however I was wondering if there was anyone close who would mind my poping round for a chat, beer and perhaps a go in their car - please I realsie that is't a very controversial subject but I am tryijg to decide between a GTO and 300ZX I drove a GTO last night. A very friendly chap who lives just round the corner from me took me out man they are fast! So I'd like to try a Z, didn't want to bother a private sale and dealers anr very cagey, Jap city ex Ram city motors don't let you drive them unless you've talked a deal. Promise not to prang it. Wierd this one, coming up to junctions/lights, brake clutch in then engine cuts out! Does'nt occur everytime just now again though getting more frequent, could it be the tps, I'll try resetting it also ECU shows all clear '55'.....anyone? thanks Jon..:confused:

In a fit of enthusiasm I bought a turbo boost controller off eBay and now that it has arrived I've suddenly twigged the meaning of 'Twin Turbo' (Sharp is my middle name) So: 1 - is it a good idea, so get another one? 2 - how d'u balance the adjustment to get equal boost? 3 - give it up and use the thing as a paperweight? tia

Anyone got any experience of using these, specifically the 'Defi' ones ( see http://www.defi-shop.com/product/vsd/bt/bt_top.htm ) Quite interested in a combination of the Sports VSD & Boost & Timer units. I've wanted a boost gauge for a while but have waited in the hope of finding one of these as I don't really want extra pods on the dash or pillars. Are they bright enough to use in strong daylight ? Seem quite good value at £101 & £114 for the 2 mentioned above. Ta ! konrad :)

Iv been given the opportunity to have vertical doors fited to my car (****in expensive) but it will be a one off just wanted to know if any1 on this site has had them done b4 as it is diffucult to do. If i do get them itll be sometime at the end of september. Just wanted some opinions on what people think about them. Iv only seen one 300zx with vertical doors and thats owned by a swede fella with a crazy yellow 300zx and its not in the uk its in sweden i think (could be another country but thats not the point) anyway opinions greatly appreciated. =Thanks To all who offered me advice just before and after purchase of my Zed. Thanks to all here I have realised my dream of owning a zed. I have reached and passed the peak of first ownership being that of a grand repair bill and bits and pieces to replace. = quick sell it. specially since my boring car is out of insurance and in the garage with no one to buy = stupid loan pay of for car in garage. Just a quick note check out the pic attached it is of the line pressure solenoid DROP RESISTER for the auto gearbox and it located high in the nearside wheel arch. If you are suffering hard shock gear changes and or loss of drive at high speed then check the resistance of the afore mentioned should be around the 10 to 14 ohms range, If as I found on one the other day it was open circuit, nothing else but to change it and in my case this restored smooth gear changes, this possibly makes an auto box look like it is in need of a rebuild when clearly it does not. Just thought it may help someone else. Jeff

Hi, Just need to verify a few things as I need to check my compression. I've looked at the write up on TT.net - http://www.twinturbo.net/ttnetfaq/FAQpages/compression.html and I've got a couple of question: 1. On the instuctions (with the compression tester) it says to remove one plug at a time, then replace, then go on to the next one but on TT.net instructions it says to remove all the plugs - which one is right? 2. Does it matter if the balance bar is attached or not? Cheers Vijay

I just want to check this one out. When the air condition is I get dripping water underneath the car. I remember having the same in a Jag. Is it simply condensation as I think it is? Geoff.

I am thinking of ordering a centre prop shaft bearing from Courtesy. Is there a difference between the USA one and my Jap one. Do they always come mounted in the housing, or is it possible they have quoted me just on a bearing ? Cheers John

After talking to luke 2 day there is a mod you have 2 carry out on a 93 onwards z if you want to de-cat! there apparently r 3 cats on this /my model as apposed to 2, has any body carried out this job and if/when i do is it difficult. Luke told me you have to add a small section of pipe and being a PLUMBER worried about doing anything but unbolt and bolt on cheers Dave
