Well guyZ, Pulled all but two of the plugs out and they looked ok, Bosch platinum tipped jobbies, connected to coil packs and left them resting on top of the engine, good news is that I am now getting (or at least seeing) a spark from each of the four pulled plugs and coil packs so I guess that rules out an electrical/electronic problem. Whilst cranking car to check 4 sparks, smelt petrol coming out of the empty plug holes, Oil is still OK (at full indicator on dipstick) BUT when I checked the water it was Waaaaaaay above high so I undid the rad cap and low and behold the rad was dry, infact when standing over the rad cap hole, could not see ANY water in the rad…

Hi Chris "You need special spacers which bolt to the hub and the wheel bolts onto that if you are going wide arch. The spacers are about 2.5 inches thick so you can't just use long bolts! All you can do is get alloys to fit the car now and get the spacers made up later. Wide arch spacers are about £300 " I was reading the earlier reply that u left me about spacers. As i said b4 the alloys are going to be 18x8 all the way round. As u also have a wide arch (by the way the car looks well nice uv done a excellent job) is this what u did with ur alloys. As i need to buy the alloys quickly i need to know that the spacers ur talking about wont damage the bearin…

Probably a stupid question, where are the cats located on the exhaust system? I have looked at it and can see there are 3 parts to it, down pipe, mid and rear. Which section has the cat?

Sorry about repeating a commonly asked question. My insurance renwal quote has come through this morning at £789 for a Jap import TT (H reg), I'm 29 and have full no claims. Does this sound reasonable? It doesn't to me. Where else should I be looking for Jap import insurers? Many thanks, Andy

my turbos are gonna be replaced soon and one of the jobs i've seen recomended to have done at the same time is removing the EGR's. is there a kit for this or could the mechanic do it by themself. and whos bright idea was it to invent these things in the first place?!:D i'm guessing you would gain a noticable amount of improvement in performance with these removed?

Hey everyone, I am new to the site and looking for some advice before I take the plunge and buy one of these beautiful beasts. I have heard varying stories about the 300ZXs, such as that they are prone to breaking easily and smoking from an early age. What sort of things should I be looking at when buying a used one? What is the best model to buy and how much would I be looking at? Im really wanting a Twin Turbo as the insurance was surprisingly cheap. If there is any useful links or anyone has any advice that would be good to me about anything on these dream machines, then please tell me!!!! I am desperate to get a great car as my little 1.5 Mazda 323F jus…

I am sure many people have seen this website before but I thought it was worth mentioning for those who haven't :) ... I came across this American Website that shows the alloys they sell on any car listed (which includes our beloved zeds). It doesn't give you different colour options on the zed except black but it gives the general idea. The Tire Rack or Link direct for Zed Garage... Hope someone finds this as useful as I have. ;) BTW it only goes up to 18" sizes

Hi all, A quick question I hope. I've been searching the forums about problem my Z picked up at weekend, and from what you all say it would seem to most likely be the PTU. (Car runs for 15 mins, stops, cools down - repeat at will !). As suggested I ran the ECU diagnostic to look for code 21, this I duely got. But I also got the code 34 'Detonation Sensor Circuit'. My question is, are these two likely to be releated, or just coincidence that I have both. ? I should probably mention here that for a couple of weeks I seem to be running without turbos (only goes up to 0 on gauge, is this running in safe mode/safety boost ?). From reading lots of posts a…

The local Nissan dealer during an engine diagnostic check has said that the engine Knock sensor is defective. The part costs £180 and is very difficult to change. They also said the Turbos are now operating in safe mode. Can anyone confirm this, and has anyone got a sensor, where is it on the block and how do you go about changing it. Any help please. Car is a1995 UK TT. Thanks

Hi guys, Can anyone remember which pins in the Consult Plug need to be jumpered to make the Z go into diag/check light flashing mode? I am getting sick to death of trying to turn the Pot. in the ECU at night/pulling back the carpet every 5 mins!!!! And is it just me or did the Z designers deliberately put the f***ing drivers side fuse kick panel in THE MOST inaccessible place they could find? I can barely test the fuses with a multimeter let alone trying to pull one out, plus as the car is parked passenger side towards the curb, I have to lie in the middle of the fekking road just to see the blooming thing.... ARRRGGGG! (vent mode: off) :p

Alright Guys. My Z is doing my head in...basically i have a brake shudder above 40 mph that is really bad, below that speed there is no shudder whatsoever, no feeling of warped discs from the brake pedal, the only thing I have replaced is the pads recently. OK Steering now, my inner sides of the front tyres are worn to near the legal limit, and when I look at the car wheels it really looks like the tracking is miles towing out so this would add up to the tyre wear, I have replaced the front tension rod bushes/steering rack bushes with the Energy Suspension bushes, but i havent replaced the bottom wishbone bush with a poly one. Is it possible that the tracking bei…

I replaced my rear transmission mount just over a week ago, I did not replace the centre prop shaft bearing tho. The vibration seams more noticable now, (unless its my imagination) Does it seam possible that due to the new, stiffer rear mount the vibration is more noticable ? Was the old one absorbing some of the vibration. Regards John

Ok, tried to replace both the sensors today. Using a crow's foot from a local store, (spanner head with 3/8 drive connector), and several extensions, u-joint and some piping that was lying around. Spent about an hour on the pass side as I'd read that was easiest, then removed bonnet to make life a little easier. Anyhow got fed up with that, so had a go at the drivers side and managed to do it!!! Spent the rest of the afternoon failing with the pass side again. My spanner doesn't move much then seems to get wedged against the nuts on the manifold - that or it slips off. Taking extension straight up. I think the only pipe left to remove is the A/C one so…
