Hi Guys Can anyone recommend a decent place to do a re trim?? I have noticed a few which have had really cooool re trims so who did you use and most importantly how much is it gonna hurt my pocket??;) Cheers kirbz

For those of you with long memories, you may recall that a bunch of us had new PCV valves fitted in the hope it would cure smoky turbos. Well, mine did - sort of. The symptoms (for me, anyway) were that in normal use, no smoke. But when it had been left in idle for a period of several minutes (eg at an MOT test), both exhausts would start to blue smoke. This disappeared after a few minutes of normal driving. But still worrying. I had the PCV valves replaced in June and everything seemed to be fine. During the next MOT (Aug) the smoke returned - first from the left bank then the right. But a lot less than it used to be so clearly, clearing the breathing…

I just had a mini-saga with my airconditioning which I hope might useful if you're having the same problems. During a 6 hour drive to Cumbria on the hottest day of the year (natch) it stopped working. The temp of the air varied and then the water temp guage would climb way high. Turn the aircon off and slowly the guage would go back to normal. When I got back home, I had it regassed by Mark IV Aircon in Langley. They used a new gas (R134a) and a new type of oil. It cost £78.38. I had rung several people and been told that I needed to replace seals and use a blend gas and (lots of other stories). Quotes varied up to £120 or more. I asked the guys at Mar…

I need to change the passenger side rear wheel bearings...can anyone recommend a supplier of the bearings or is it a Nissan job? Any part numbers or cost estimates?

Whats the widest wheel spacer that can be used before things begin to get a bit dodgy? Should they be used at all? and do the pins need changing if spacers are used? Anyone out there bin using spacers with no problems?

Got a problem with moderate levels of vibration in my new zed. Seems to be rev related, between 3 & 4k. Previous owner informs me that drift shaft barings have been replaced. From searching here it seems to be gear box mounts and drive shaft balancing are likely candidates. Is there anything else to look at? Any top tips on diagnosing problems like this or a best order to attack the likely causes? Cheers David

This might make me sound like a tight git, but is there any point in trying to paint the plastic vents between the bonnet and windscreen and if so how long is it likely to last?

Hi All, A bit like SRAEs problem I think... I've noticed for some time that my power seems to go a bit flat when I floor it - my head goes back as the turbos kick in but power levels off when I give it some throttle. After a 500 mile journey - trundling along at 70-80mph, I floored it a couple of times when almost home, nice as the turbos kicked in then massive drop in power - really noticeable - even the other half commented. Feathering the throttle allows much better acceleration than flooring it. My clutch has been a right pain in the ass, used to slip occasionally and pedal adjustment hardly helped. I read somewhere that 89- 91's had a dodgy master cylinder but no one new anything about it and just said i needed a new clutch. A brand spanking new rps jobby from smithy was installed and i still had exactly the same problem, even tho my Z's very low on power. Things were going well but but something else has cropped up now. When I drive the car for about ten miles or more the Hicas warning light comes on and stays on!!!! Is this going to be pricey to fix?? Also, mainly when cold but sometimes when hot, if you stay at a constant speed then it's as if the car hiccups or coughs. Almost like a hesitation. It's fine when your accelerating, the problem only occurs at a constant speed. Also what should the car be idling at, when I got it it was around 600 revs but now its a 1000. I noticed a week ago, they my car is struggling at top end. I floored it in 3rd and the revs struggled to get over 5000rpm. At the rate it was going up, I think it would have ran out of power before 6000rpm. Any ideas what it could be? Stuart

It would appear that the prices of Z32's are now getting to the point that buying a whole spares car might actually be worthwhile. I was wandering around my local jap importers yesterday and saw that he had quite a few skylines in stock. I asked him what he would give me for my immaculate jap import twin turbo (manual) against one of the skylines. £3K mate, came the reply. £3K !!!!!!!! my car comes with 10 months MOT, tax, all the toys, 79K miles and not a blemish on the paintwork. £3k !!!!!! Hello there folks, I'm currently saving to have my turbo's replaced. Done the PCV valves and the the hoses and it still smokes. The car has been de-catted so I can assume that this has caused the rear seals on the turbos to go. Will I be damagin my engine if I continue to run the car like this? I'm keeping a very close eye of the oil level and pressure and all seems fine. Is it just a case of oil seeping past the seals and being burnt in the exhaust? All the best. Martin.

Hi there guys, I purchased a mongoose for the zed and ftted it last week. Since then I have done about 300 miles.(mostly motorway) Just cleaned the car and gave the exhaust a wipe off. No real dirt just a bit of black dust. What was left was some pretty heavy scoring on the inside of the rolled lip, many scratches spireling outwards. Im pretty sure they were not there when I fitted it. The scratches are pressent on all pipes. Never seen this before. Engine is pretty much stock with about 90K, seems in good condition, Never seems to burn oil, the odd rattle when its cold. Sometimes smokes very lightly on the drivers side but that only happens very rarely. Sounds swee…

So i was a bit confused with what u said the spacers u made chris c are they not gonna be right for me if i buy the kahn rsc alloys as they are only 18x8 as i want a wide as look as possible on the rears when i get the wide arch kit. U did mention they would be a bit skinny but aslong as they push out enough on the wide arch i dont really mind. when my car's cold there's a loud rattling sound coming from the engine. It almost sounds like when you shove a piece of paper in a desk fan! I'm due a oil change soon, will that cure it? I can't see anything visibly catching on the fan. Once the engine warms up the noise disappears. Thanks, Stuart.

a massive thanks to phill from C & S WOOD ENGINEERING ( 01942 892568 ) astley manchester. took my poor old zed to him to re-build my engine dropped it off at his garage on sunday and i get a call thursday night to say its ready, i just couldent belive it, went up fri to pick it up and it was parked outside looking a million dollars, not only had he done an exellent job on the engine, he had also valeted the car for me as well. his service was trully first class, he checked the car over b4 i left and i also got a courtesy call when i got home to see if everything was ok !! very fast and efficient service highly recomended will b going there …

Guys, Found the FAQ info on exhausts v interesting as well as the posts on Performance SS's. Can you clear up this comment" B&B Triflo : + : claims the highest HP gains of any exhaust on the market. X Pipe technology, Hand Made Stainless construction, V8 sound - : dont make a exact pipe for the Euro 2+2 twinturbos. can be too Noisey for some, Very Pricey. I like the idea of a V8 sound but Im buying a UK TT so from the above info I assume that they don't do a system for these. Can anyone confirm or deny this Thanks Glenn:confused: :D

Due to the impending onset of old age, I'm 30 in October, my other half has agreed to buy me a larger present than usual (this year it'd better not be a hairdryer ??!?!?!?). Now I'm not sure whether to get a 99 spec front end, an induction kit, a big feck off rear spoiler, or some ice.
