ok, sounds a bit stupid but i sometimes struggle to pull away quickly from a standstill! What are people's thoughts on the best takeoff?? What revs? Drop the clutch or feed it? I seem to either get bogged down (just off boost) or smoke the tyres to fu*k!! Not that it's really a problem, 'cos even when i do get a cr*p start, I can usually sail past whoever's there once i'm on full boost :D :D :D

Hi All, My timing was out by over 10 degrees (advanced) - this explains my detonation problem I guess :( Problem is why and how it was out by so much?? The problem seems to be quite recent so something must have changed/broken - I'm not convinced that the belt could have slipped - surely that would have put it out by much more anyway(?) So I have no detonation now but the car feels a bit flat running at 1bar :( is the timing solely controlled by the ECU or could something else have got stuck/broken which may mean timing had got stuck advanced and now can't advance when ECU tells it to (because it was set back to 15 degrees)? Anyone in the NW got a ConZ…

Can anyone out there shed any light on this topic? I had a new timing belt fitted (with all the usual extras) about 3 months ago. The car ran very well for a few weeks but started to get a bit lumpy at higher revs and boost. By 4-5 weeks after the timing belt, it had got to the stage where I was getting backfires and serious detting at high boost. I went in to GPS and after a bit of checking (and a full ECU diagnostic) it turned out that the timing has running at 30 degrees, rather than 15! Original Garage, claim to have set it at 15, but I was sceptical, until I noticed that the now perfect running of the car started to deteriorate once more. Car was booke…

Anyone had a new master brake cylinder over the past year or so. If so did you notice much difference in your braking after. Would seem a shame to go spending hundred and hundred of pounds on caliper and disc upgrades if it is something as simple as the MBC.

What is the benefit of hybrid turbos and what sort of extra power do they give over stock turbos. ( car also has decatted s/s exhaust). Trying to decide if its worth paying the extra for hybrids over stock turbos. Cheers. Martin.

In theory they ought to allow more pressure where it is really needed. Has anyone fitted them and found that to be right? Could you feel the difference when braking? tia

Hello folks, This has probably been covered many time before but........ If (or should that be when) I get the engine pulled to do the turbos what else should I be looking to get done? Lit of possibilities is as follows. oil feeder pipe water pump worn or perished rubber hoses that are difficult / impossible to do with the engine in. oil and filter change. The car had the belts done at 64,000 miles and has now covered 79,000 miles. Will I need to get the A/C re-charged? All the best. Martin.

Right, I've seen all the info on clearing the front indicators with drill and/or soldering iron, but I've noticed that this is for Jap spec indicators. Does anyone know if the same process works on the stock UK indicators? (Just thought I'd ask b4 crawling about in the drive! ;) ) That's the last bit of orange on my car and it's got to go!!!

My First Zed: Silver 1990 TT, bought in early 2001 for £6000, written off in mid 2001 after bonding with a tree on a wet morning. My Second Zed: Silver 1989 N/A bought in early 2003 for £3500 (inc. £700 DVLA plate), problem with power steering that could not be diagnosed by Western power steering, Wessex Nissan or jeff at Zedworld. Sold in mid 2003 for £3500. Third Zed??? I have always loved these cars, and having been through GTOs, 944's etc, I'm considering having another go, though the model is getting older, and I'm not sure how they stand the test of time. This time, it would have to be a well maintained TT (preferably in silver!!!!). The bu…

Hello there, My car (89 TT manual) shows worryingly low oil pressure when fully warm. at 3000 revs when fully warm it is indicating about 30 - 35 psi or just over 2 on the scale as my car is a jap import. I know this is far les than it should be. Any suggestions? The car runs fine and the oil level is when it should be. The turbo's are smoking badly though. Cheers. Martin.

This could prove to be a useful topic when searched for... What cars' alloys will fit ours? Eg will alloys that fit a Skyline fit straight on a 300ZX? What about other jap manufacturers? And will our wheels fit eg a 200SX or Pulsar GTiR? Or am I being oversimplistic with regards to different years etc? Cheers :) Pete
