General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Took the zed out for a blast with a colleague at lunch and it didn't feel up to its usual.... scariness. Didn't have the Autometer boost gauge plumbed in, and I know it was boosting over stock but it definately wasn't giving me what it should do :confused: V noticeable booting it at low speeds, seemed to take lots longer for the boost level to rise. I've got a boost leak detector but haven't used it yet, I thought it could be a leak, or simply the hot weather - 26oC on the aircon gauge. Cheers Pete

This engine I'm getting ready to put back in has been stood for ages and I'm still waiting for parts. Is it going to do it any harm standing with no oil in it for months on end? Is there anything I should do as it might be a while yet? Chris.

Simple question, I hope!! My handbrake comes almost upto vertical when i pull it on (it works fine) and I just want to adjust it to 3-4clicks. Anyone know how to do it and how easy/hard is it???? Grazie..........:)

Or in fact to anyone who can answer it; Having seen all the questions and answers on the uk rear shock handbrake thingy i was wondering, Ive got a j spec but when i get in it in the morning and reverse off the drive i hear a little wizz of a small motor for maybe a second or so after ive reversed about 5 foot, sounds like some sort of gizmo in the boot area dooing something but ive never known what, sounds similar to what id imagine the shock actuators to sound like though i know i deffo dont have any:confused: It doesent cause me any problems, just wondered what it was!!

The wheels I am probably getting are only available in 8 inch. So its 235/40 on the fronts, but shall I put wider on the rears? Say, 255 maybe? Or just keep the same all round? And while on the subject of tyres, best place for Toyo's? Cheers.

Please I need some help, can anyone tell me if the purple metallic 300ZX normally common color in the Uk? I live in Barcelona Spain and despite the fact that 300zx are not seen everyday in entire Spain, I am thinking about buying it in the Uk and have it ship to Spain, but I wish to have the purple color, wich I think is not sold in the EU, since it was a model after 1995 and Japan stoped productions in eu at that year and kept selling in the UK and USA. Also is there any possibly way to obtain this car in the Uk with a left hand steering wheel? and last question; would you guys suggest me a 2seater? or a 2x2?? thank you from Barcelona Spain!:cool:

I have set my Sub up no problem and it works fine. My question is, where can I thread the live feed that goes to the battery. It is quite a thick cable, about 7mm. I cant see any obvious holes going through the dash to the engine bay.

Still trying to decide between styling or performance, and want to know if there is an Abflug supplier in the UK so that I can weigh up some prices. I bought my imported TT '92 manual car a month ago, and that time has thrown up a few problems. I've just been told that my master brake cylinder has a leak (it does, I can see it). Along with this, after the car warms up, I get what I can only describe as a 'wu-wu-wu-wu-wu-wu' noise from the rear. This rises in pitch with speed until it's continuous and loud. When this stage is reached, if you stop the car and move off again, I get a metallic grinding noise which seems to start under the gear lever and moves backwards. Oh, and after 20 or so miles, the HICAS warning light comes on. My local Nissan dealer isn't much help. Is any of this this con…

a subject close to all ...the dreadfull lights on the Z .....i have recently employed a man waving a red flag with a davey lamp stuck on to his head to guide my way ( he does have to run very very very fast ).........no honestly my question is ,are there any aftermarket light conversions out there that retain the origional look of the OE ? or does anybody know of a good cure for J spec car ? kazakhstan calling .............hi all , as a new Zed owner i was last time home revelling in the ease in which the car picks up its skirts and heads for the horizon ..........until horror ..!! farmer F***wit pulls out on me in his combine harvester i did not revell in the way the horizon was still rushing towards me with my anchors full on ..........pray tell what is a good quick fix for the crap brakes until i can afford some Brembos ?? Posted a few months back that my cruise never worked had a lot of replies but still nothing!! my car is a uktt man i have tried fuses/switches under clutch and brake pedal the green light comes on .....on dash but when you press button on wheel does not come on any further tests i can do!! cheers Dave:confused:

My passenger side main beam bulb has stopped working. First of all it kept going out when I drove over bumps and a swift bang on the headlight sorted it out but now it does not work at all. I have read a few articles online and it seems I have to take the whole bumper off to get to the headlight fixtures!. Does anyone know if there is a easier way of getting to the bulbs?. Ta.

I have been offered the above clutch at a good price. It only has 300 miles on it and I have been told by a friend that it is in excellent condition. Can anyone offer some insight into this clutch? .. I need a clutch that will take the extra HP but I don't particularly want to go to the gym in order to operate it. The clutch I have been told is worth 1.5k .. he is offering it to me for £500 Also I don't think the flywheel is included .. I thought that most of these clutches came with a suitable flywheel, so am I letting myself in for trouble ?... Cheers Chris

I know that as the car gets older the rubber bits around the windows and along the doors change from black to a kind of motley grey colour. Other than replacing all of these, anyone know how to get them black again? While I'm on the subject, my wiper arms have also lost a lot of the black colour. Now they're silvery/black mix. What can be done to get these black again?

Yesterday evening I was at a place called "Tsunami Racing" getting a nice shiney new filter fitted and whilst chatting to the guy there about other future ways to give me more power he said that he'd read about some sort of 'emissions control valve' that comes on Jap spec models...??...and if this valve is removed you can get about another 10-15bhp. He reckons it's a half-hour job. Anyone know what he is on about and if so, is it safe to do and does it work....?
