Hi peeps, Have done searches already but can't find the answer. Aplogies in advance.:o I have a Helix fast road clutch which essentially is a standard Nissan disc with heavier cover thingy. I have found that if I start 'n' stop in a lot of traffic the bite point of the clutch is almost at the floor prolly an inch off :( After some normal driving the clutch point returns to a more acceptable position. SE have now bled the system but I feel it is still there. The bite point is a few inches off the floor at a guess. Theres a few inches of slack when applying the pedal from top then it starts to feel stiff (ooh errr missus!!) Some threads sug…

I know a few of you out there have a set, so can you please help me out? I've heard all sorts of stories eg "you only have to sneeze and they will be scratched" So what do you use to clean them (ie water/specialist cleaner/fresh urine) and how (ie sponge/rag/wife's old knickers :D etc) Cheerz Dave

Hi all, just thought id let you know how my car is going. I posted a question a couple of weeks ago about a sticky gear shift ona zx tt manual I had just bought, also my radiator had sprung a leak and I was getting disheartened. Well the radiator is fixed, my sticky gearshift doesn't affect me as much now due to bigger biceps from using it and the car is running well. Also I didn't realise that my single exit exhaust had whats called a baffle fixed in it, a friend knew a bit more than me and as soon as he saw the large exhaust with a small outlet he quickly grabbed a spanner and pulled out a baffle about a foot and a half long from my exhaust. I thought it was loud before…

I'm gonna rip out the tossy standard speakers and fit some nice Pioneers. Me question is the speaker that I want comes in both 16cm and 17cm size. I know the fronts are 6.5" but 16cm and 17cm are both almost 6.5" and I was wondering if it'd be better to have slighty bigger or slightly smaller than 6.5"??? Any advice appreciated, cos I don't want to remove the door interiors more than once!!

searched and no one has asked, so here goes. Would it be at all feasible to have the t-bar on our zeds some way 'cut out' and then have a fabricated locking mechanism placed on the end of the t-bar, therefore locking it into place when required. After cleaning the beast yesterday, this occured to me whilst cleaning out the drain channells in the top. Obviously this would severly weaken the structure of the car on an impact with the lid off, but surely with the lids on, more or less the same as before, but with the added bonus of having a completely removable roof in the summer. So whatta y'all think, talking *****x or viable????? vicky x x

Hi all, Been having some problems with the A/C. Apparently compressor is OK, pressure of gas is fine, fuses OK, but no cold air. At the weekend found the connector on the receiver (behind the front bumper) loose. Cleaned and refitted and now the A/C seems to be making a noise where it wasn't before. Sounds like a cross between fan noise and the noise a fridge makes?!! It seems to be coming from behind the glovebox. Would the poor receiver connection have stopped the system working before? With it not flowing gas, would the pressures have been measured wrong? Any ideas? expansion valve or something? Is the A/C supposed to sound like a fridg…

Hi, Can anyone help with with these? I'm looking to buy one of each and just wanted to know if I need anything special? I'm looking at the Gunson stuff: http://www.gunson.co.uk/acatalog/Gunson_Catalogue_Timing_Lights_4.html http://www.gunson.co.uk/acatalog/Gunson_Catalogue_General_Test___Tune_Equipment_8.html I also see that they sell a "remote start/crank" switch, how would these connect up o a 300? Cheers Vijay

Firstly when someone said it's a little tricky to change the two bushes situated underneath the gear know are they mad.... Tried it on the weekend, and got everything out apart from the last nut and bolt on the very underneath of the gear stick it was impossible i in fact gave up...... I also don't think it's that that is causing the wobble. It could be the whole plate with the large rubber mount in the middle, the one where the bolt comes out of that might just be old as it doesn't seem to hold rigid enough. Either that or i need to replace any gear box mounts....... Also i was speaking with Vijay about idling and he suggested cleaning it out with …

Hello again folks, Well my car is still smoking after doing the PCV valves so I guess its likely to be the dreaded turbos after all. Before I go and get the engine pulled and the turbos replaced is there anything else that could be causing the smoke. It definetely has an oily smell to it and a tinge of blue although to be honest I'd say it is mostly white / grey. I'm not losing any water either. Could it be the bores / rings (oh my god expensive !!) and would a compression test show this up? Currently researching garages and prices for turbo replacement in my local area but the bills gonna be big thats for sure. The car only smokes at idle and I n…

I saw a lovely low mileage Zed at the weekend that would be my dream replacement to my current mega milage old timer. She looks great from the exterior and interior. A decent test drive showed that the engine and gearbox are silky smooth with plenty of turbo boost and no vacuum leaks. Then I opened the bonnet which showed some issues that give me a number of misgivingings about her. i) Both wings, front bumper, air filter panel and the frame to which the bonnet is attached have paint showing that indicates they have been replaced my parts from another Zed. ii) One of the original welds has been replaced by a very poor quality weld as you face the front of the c…

Had my car remapped on Wednesday & everything was fine, boosted well up to 1.3 bar, pulled fine with no flat spots right up to 7200rpm. However yesterday it drove like a bag of $hite again with a horrendous flat spot after 6000 rpm in 2nd and detting at the top end of 3rd AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH:mad:   Does anyone have any suggestions? cos this is really pi$$ing me off now and I'm starting to consider just getting rid.......   :(

I noticed my car has wheel spacers on the front, about 7 or 8mm thick. Did the 300zx import come standard with these spacers ? None on the back though. Cheers John

Hi, I have a annouying vibration at about 40mph, I have mentioned it before and some people suggested it could be a propshaft imbalance or maybe a gearbox mounting. The car is due a service soon and I am wondering how much it might cost to get it fixed. Anyone else know how much it might be roughly?? Also is it likely to cause any longterm damaged leaving it (considering the cheapskate option too ;) ) Cheers Barry

Zed causing me grief!!!!!!! Doesn't like starting when warm. Fine when cold usually!! The normal 1/2 turn of the key, however if it doesn't catch on that first fire it's usually takes 5-6 seconds before it will start. As for when its warm and after a run, come back to it 1/2 an hour later and it really struggles to fire. when it does start there's a real hesitation and drop of revs as soon as you depress the throttle, not enough to stall if your careful but damn annoying. 2 mins later and they'll be nothing wrong and no hesitation. Theres no hesitation or missing after that initial press of the accelerator, and she pulls like normal. Any ideas!!:conf…

Hi All, Found a couple of boost leaks today, one easy, one not so easy:( It's the lower turbo hose which has split - the one with the ribbed/flexi section. I'm assuming this is the outlet side (?) Three questions: 1. Is it possible to replace this hose with engine in place? 2. This is a moderate split, not huge, am I right in thinking this will mean drop in boost pressure, running lean off boost and running rich on boost? 3. Is there an aftermarket replacement part available (Smithy?) - dreading the Nissan price. Still getting some detonation - especially now I've cured one of my boost leaks (not running as rich now I guess). Had a new fuel f…

Just bought a 1993 J-Spec import that came with a indash tv/gps sat nav/cd tape player. The only problem is that I can only receive 1 radio station and the tv tuner doesn't pick up UK stations. The unit is made by pioneer. Does anyone know how to convert these units to UK spec?
