been doing a bit of fault finding today , trying to find why my car wont start. replaced ptu and no difference. ecu diagnostics code 11 and 21. ignition circuit aND crank angle sensor. took CAS and put back in wiggled harness around a bit and car started. now running on less than six cylinders , poss 3 or 4. still codes 11 and 21. how can i check to see if the cas is definetly my problem? getting very desperate now. any help or suggestions appreciated. thanks ...lee

It appears as though my drivers seat does not go as far back as the passenger seat...being over 6ft tall this poses a bit of a problem. Looking (and listening) a little more closely it seems as though something is stopping it going back further...has anyone else had similar problems with electric seats? Any ideas what could be causing this?

Hi there, Been thinking of buying a jap import ZX either turbo or non turbo. Am I going to be buying a big expense and a gas guzzler? The car will be on a 90/G or later and around the £5k mark. I don't want to buy a car and have to mod it to keep it going apart from alarm immobiliser etc. Any views would be a great help. Thanks :)

Those damned wipers!! I have been trying to get them off for weeks so I can repaint the scuttles. I even made an extractor out of 'C' section steel, about 2.5mm thick steel, with a 5/16" bolt. The 'C' section just started to open up. After taking the plastic cap and the nut off, the threaded rod is bright nickel finish, so I doubt the splines are rusted. Any suggestions ? Cheers John

Does anybody Know anything about changing the stock fuel filters to inline Bosh filters ?as i was told by this Japonese guy that the stock filters have a certain amount of gravetational pull where as inline filters are much more responsive having less resistance.He says that on the z this is the first upgrade before anything else.

Help!! Got a diagnostic check on my zed this morning and it came back saying "the following item needs attention..." knock sensors.That's it!! what the f@@k are these? can anyone tell me what they are and how much they are likely to cost? Many thanks! Jon.

I have a slight noise in 2nd and 4th gear. Its not major but there is a noticible difference between 2nd an 4th compares to 1st 3rd and 5th. Its difficult to describe but its not a whining or metalic sound. The car performs all right and theres no vibration.2nd and 4th sound a little louder. Any ideas....oops 90 manual TT

Hi folks Well, the restore to factory on my 1985 Z31 is going beautifully and he oil pressure gauge is registering now having removed the el cheapo after market single point thingy that could not handle gauge and idiot light, but the litres remaining is still flashing on E after a whole new sender unit was installed. Does one need to disconnect the battery for several hours to allow the computer to dump it's current info and recallibrate itself on reconnection? If not, please help with where to go next if you can. Also, the rear window defogger switch does not seem to want to work. Feels sloppy and doesnt want to engage by the feel of it.Replace? and if so…

hello folks, currently using a snooper 715i detector, which has proved invaluable in both my old tvr and now the zed. Been 'thinking' about this new road angel mallarkey. read several reviews and seems very promising, anyone on here actually using of of these little gizmos, and how does it fair to the old snoopers if you upgraded vicky x x

I recently felt some shaking on my steering wheel, hence went to get the wheels balanced, got them balanced (Kwik Fit) but the problem has actually got worse, should I go somewhere else to get them balanced up, or could it be somthing else? cheerZ

I've noticed when driving over small bumps my gear stick wobbles i think more than normal. Are there any engine or gearbox mounts that may have come lose i can tighten up?????? Sorted the low idling with the grub screw,also sorted the clutch adjustment. Seems fine now.

started up my car for the first time in about a month ( havent driven cos one of the turbos has blown) and a new noise has appeared from the engine. it sounds alot like tappet noise, increases with revs, stops the minute the engine is stopped and is coming from the offside bank of cylinders. it sounds very loud though and didnt stop after idleing for bout 3 minutes. is tappet noise something that could occur due to not driving the car for a long time and will stop once the cars been driven a few times or could it be something else enyone can think of? i know a slight bit of tappet noise is common for the first few seconds after starting up the car but i didnt think …

I've put a boost leak detector on to see if I have any leaks but it doesn't pressurize at all. I'm still getting positive boost on the car but I can't really tell if I'm hitting max boost or not cos I've just had a new clutch and flywheel put in and I'm running them in. Can anyone tell me where to start looking and if anyone knows where there is a good diagram of all the pipework so I can trace them all? Thanks Vijay

Is it next to impossible to remove the turbos from under the car? I think i'm going to replace mine to see if they're the cause of my no power at high revs, but i don't want to remove the engine, it's not practical where i live. I'm going to try jacking her up tonight and checking it out but am i stupid even thinking about it?

Steve E I guess you posted some helpful tips on det and retard earlier, I'm the guy running 18.5psi and i would shure like not to be, so how can i stop it. when i turn the boost controller off it still boosts past 18 and the diddy dauge on the speedo dissapears to the right. I get that horrifying noise like "goosehonk" so I thought i had boost leak. how does that work, 18psi and boost leak? do you have any ideas? I only had it all fitted 2 weeks ago running fine before that, b*****x.

Hi, My recently purchased 1992 300zx was imported into the UK about 3 years ago. Is it advisable to get it undercoated, and if so, are there different types and quality of undercoating ? I imagine the underneath must be pressure washed, is the coating they put back some kind of 'elastomeric bitumen' type of coating or what ? How are zeds generally when it comes to resisting rust (I remember the 240z was a real 'rust bucket') I would have thought the zeds to be good on this matter, but there is a new post from a zed owner saying his zed is rusted beyond repair. Hi people, I have just had the horrible news that my beloved 300 is not going to make it through the MOT without quite a lot of work. I've basically been told that it's pretty rotten underneath and is going to need some extensive welding. I really need some advice I guess. I have spent literally thousands on this baby, but I now being advised not to have the work done. The problem I have is that the majority of the car is good. It has a new(ish) engine with 2 huge turbo technics turbo's, boost controller and turbo timer, new items such as radiator, radiator matrix, rear mich. pilot tyres (265,40,ZR17), discs all round.
