Ello u lot, just been out for a spin, and i'm confused... maybe the car's not really fullypushin out her potential, when should the power of the tubbies kick in, be at full swing and then tail off, as they are seeming to tail off really early with my baby, and 100 seemed a bit of a struggle!! no black smoke or anything so she's not indicating turbo trouble! Off the lights the other day, giving it a bit of wellie, all of a sudden a huge wheelspin, backfire, clutch slip and smell of burning rubber and plastic. Didn't feel very good after that - Thought the car was on fire so I pulled over and gingerly lifted up the bonnet. There was a hissing noise from near the fuel filter, so I got the torch and had a look. Turns out the fuel vacuum line running from the engine to the small black box behind the filter (don't know what it is) had ruptured in two places! Any ideas? I have no idea what happened there!

Hi, Just a quick question ref the gearbox oil cooler. I have a jap import and have read and seen (in Zcentre web site ) that its recommended that the cooler is changed for a bigger one. How high on 'the things to do' list should i put this on. How many people have done this?? Is it prevention is better than cure!! thanks. Look forward to your views Jonce

I saw two Z's last night but I can't say was it you because they probably aren't members and can't see this section. What's the benefits to having this as a members only section ?

At the weekend I ended up with the Z leaking coolant everywhere, resulting in loads of steam etc. Turns out that one of the two pipes running from the rear of the engine to the bulkhead was leaking. I'm fitting the new pipes tonight, but there could be a problem. The damaged pipe had only a small hole in it (and it was on the other side of the jubilee clip) - but the amount of coolant leaking was huge (It went through a whole radiator full in less than 15 minutes as I plodded home). So, I was wondering if: a) This has happened to anyone else b) The heater pipes which come out of the bulkhead could be damaged themselves. Any ideas greatly appreciated Ch

I'm not sure exactly where the PTU is (or exactly what it does) but from searching through the forums it appears to be a trouble maker. My 300 is missing at low revs (up to about 2.5) but smooths out at higher revs and seems to run ok. If I floor it at high revs, no problem. Down low and it sounds like poo, like it's missing on one of the cylinders or running really rich. I took off the coil packs on 3 of the cylinders (one at a time) and fitted a spare plug. All three of them seem to fire ok but miss every 8 or 10 or 6 sparks. Any ideas...? (the other 3 coil packs are under too much stuff for my limited skills...I think) BTW, this started happening AFTER I …

Check out http://www.jiperformance.co.uk/New_Folder/home/product.htm Half the links don't work but the Blitz, HKS & Apexi links do. They have some bargain boost controllers, especially the Blitz SBC ID-III for £350 inc VAT! That seems very cheap. Also the Apexi AVC-R is only £330. They're asking the same sort of prices on E-bay! Or is there a catch  Shaun

I removed the mudguards off my Jap spec last week and have been left with thick sticky pads on the rear bumpers. What's the best way to get rid of them without damaging the paintwork? They're stubborn ****ers.

Spent the whole weekend working on the car. Did timing belt and HICAS removal. Now the bloody thing's rewarded me by detting like a bugger. Guess what ever was wrong at thor has got worse. Even pings at 3500rpm with a JWT map!! Guess that's another weekend of checking for fuelling probs and air leaks then

Hi all, I have now noticed another noise coming from my Zed. I am getting a tappety noise coming from under the car. Its definetly not from the engine as it is coming from something about half way along the car. I am still getting this wurring noise from the rear and a vibration through my seat. Is it likely that all these things would point to a faulty prop centre bearing? I was unsure before but now I have this new noise surely this can be the only thing? Cheers, Justin

I have an intermittant missfire. I was driving down an a-road the other day and it started missfiring really bad so I pulled over and had a look. All relevant plugs connected. Drove through a 30mph village and out the other side. Still doing it after a good caning. Drove through a 40mph village and it cleared. After a couple of weeks it came back yesterday. Driving along a-roads and after about 5 miles it was missfiring for about 15 miles then mysteriously dissappeared. Have cleaned out injector and plug cap connectors about 2 weeks ago. Not cleaned tps connector but checked CAS and PTU connectors which seem fine. Temp switch connector seems dodgy and not cleaned ou…

Just a quickie, Im interested in the new bumper from Luke, but think a number plate might spoil the look. Whats the law regarding number plates, I wondered if a near horizontal one would be legal fitted in the marked section on the pic, bit like they used to have on the older classics, possibly stick on plate.
