Hi Just had MOT done and its failes on excessive play on the rod that goes from the track rod end into the steering rack, N/S more excessive than O/S. Could anyone tell me how this can be corected as i have been told that they can be compressed back into the rack by machine, if not does anyone else have any advice on what i can do. Also does anyone have any instructions on the removal and refitting of the steering rack if possible, i have done a search but to no avail   Many Thanks Dunk

I was going out with a few friends the other day for a bit of a spin. We drove about 30 miles up around the 100 mark, when we stopped a small amount of steam was coming from under the bonnet. After popping the bonnet i noticed it was coming from the back of the engine, (toward the drivers side) next to the bulk head, dripping down onto the exhaust. I couldnt see much in there (pipes and engine everywhere), so i let it cool down, checked the water level and it was still full!! I then went on to drive another 150 miles without a problem at all - still holding water, and no steam !!!!!! I seem to remember this happening on a particullaly hot day last year - d…

Silver Z in Montgomery Street Sparkbrook about 4 o'clock- just along from work- it was someone coming out of one of the works there. All I managed to notice on the way past was the cracked paint on the spoiler!! Sparkbrook seems to be a bit of a zed hotspot (compared with Leamington) I've seen two reds, a silver, a black and there's a nice white K reg UK at a house near farm park.

  5. I was thinking about getting some Iridium spark plugs for my N/A 300. Loads of claims are made about more power (up to 10bhp more etc). Do they really make any noticable difference or would I need a dyno run to actually tell they were there? :hyper: Crraaaiiiggggg Daaaaayyyyvvviidddd ; Bo!

Anyone got any ideas on this, A friend oiled something under the bonnet to do with the throttle bodies? but unfortunately it hasnt cleared it. Basically sometimes in the morning there is resistance on the pedal and you push firmly and it clicks and goes. Between gear changes the throttle sometimes stays open and at sets of lights again pedal is stiff, and a firm push to click before IT moves. Any ideas gratefully recieved.

Got an auto tt z, when i get in the car & turn the heater on, the w'screen immediately mists up, taking 20secs or so to eventually clear, why is this? This only happens when the engine has been previously warmed up, not 1st thing in the morning.

hi guys wonder if you could help me. usually when i put my foot down on the accelerator the car would almost stop for a second before accelerating very fast. a similar thing would occur if i pressed the power button. however............recently.....when i put my foot down the revs seem to go up quite fast(normal) however the car doesn`t accelerate. it seems like the engine is trying to accelerate but no extra power comes out. HOWEVER, as soon as there is a change of gear (up in to the next gear) the car accelerates as expected!!!!!! I seem to get a normal / expected boost when i use the power button. i know this probably doesnt make any sense but does …

rather than pure speed i'm pursuing pure handling, so far going onto my car Eibach Springs KYB Shocks carbing struts (waiting) Rear - 275/18/35 eagle F1 on Oz 18inch leggaras (waiting) Front - 235/18/35 eagle F1 on Oz 18inch legarras (waiting) What other components when uprated will give a better road expereience, considering bushes and tension rods but have heard miied results. Then grouping it with traction control should make a nice controllable car. I think this probably needs a FAQ,

Well, tried another MAF tonight and still bloody detting! Could anyone with a conzult try to get a MAF voltage reading at 2000rpm, stationary please?! That would at least show me if I'm barking up the wrong tree! Better start looking for air leaks when I'm fitting my intercoolers then

  14. Started by cybernet,

Was under the car tonight and noticed a bit of a wet patch I've not seen before.. Seems like an oily residue around the connector concerned but the connector (a rubber sleeve) seems very loose and can almost be pulled away from the joint. Am I missing a seal/clip or something and if so what can I fix it with? Any advice appreciated as usual... Steve :)

When I bought my 300 I had it up on a ramp and saw a plastic pannel in front of the passengers side front wheel on the underside of the car was broken. It's sort of shattered a bit and hanging down but still roughly in place. You can see it hanging down from a distance. I'll get it replaced sometime but should I do it really soon for any reason? Could it be letting water in anywhere or anything? It's roughly (I think) the size of a cornflakes box, and in front of the passenger side front wheel on the underside of the car. Cheers peeps

Never rains but it pours (all over the road in this case) i recently fitted a smithys bottom rad pipe, to cure a very tiny leak, had to top up bout a pint a week, and its been fine this past 2 weeks no coolant loss at all, then yesterday low and behold, clouds of steam coming from back of engine bay towards the brake servo, seems the top heater piper from the engine block has a dirty great split in it, pipes almost crumbling its that brittle, well i got the pipes on order from main delears question is will i need any special tools or are they standard jubilee clips, havent had chance to look as i had to dump the car at a mates house any info so im prepared for the job…

I have just been to my local tyre fitting place to have my tracking, etc done and they informed me that my (stock) wheels are on the wrong sides!! and need to be swapped over in order to cool the brakes efficiently. When I looked closer at the wheels I saw an 'L' on my driver side wheel and an 'R' on the passenger side but my rears are the right way round. Is this true and if so where do you read the sides from (ie. is right/left when you are looking at the car front on or when sitting in the car?)??? I assume it is when you are sitting in the car.

Hi, After lurking around here for the past few weeks and asking the odd question I've come to a decision on what I want in a 300zx, I realise what I want is likely to be the Holy Grail of Z's but then why shouldn't I set my standards high? I'm after the following: Transmission: Manual Engine: 3.0l TT Chassis: SWB with Targa Top Colour: Black or Silver (preferably not the gunmetal type colour) Age: 1991 or younger, either 50k± or 65k+ miles with proof of major service and lots of reciepts. Misc: Would like some small mods, maybe exhaust and uprated shocks? Would I be kidding myself if I expected to get all this between £5k and £6.5k? Also…

I'm thinking of having my car chipped and upping the boost to 12psi from stock (9psi is it???), bearing in mind I use my car as a daily drive so it needs to be reliable. Question: I am better getting a boost jets, or going to the additional expense of a boost controller so I can turn the boost down for the daily drive? Also, with the possibly boost controller group buy that’s going on, am I better going for the Profec e 01 or is this a bit of overkill and the Profec B will do, or is there maybe a better option? I'm also slightly worried about having the Screen for the Profec e 01 on display, some fecker may break in thinking it's a TV. Or am I better leaving it…

Hi, Still looking into all the little things with a 300zx that could be costly. I'm now looking at security. I've discovered that the TOAD Ai606 seems to be very popular amongst you forum dwellers ;) I want a TT SWB with a targa top, but are there any issues with security. I know the 300zx didn't come with a factory alarm so would the targa top cause any issues when it comes to having an alarm fitted? Also, how secure are targa tops in the first place?
