General Discussions - 300ZX Related

All, I'm going to get a cooler fitted for the transmission - I kow lots of people have done this - can anyone let me know how much it cost - where they got the parts from - whether they bypassed the standard cooling or used it in-line. I'll be doing this imminently so all suggestions welcome. Ta :duffer:

As I was approaching Sterling Corner today 2.30ish - saw a speeding yellow Zed large rear spoiler - I flashed it from my metallic grey Zed. So was it anyone from here? Geoff.

Started the Z this morning after a hard frost and it was a struggle, so much that the CD player needed re-codeing. Checked the battery acid level only to see no fluid. It took 750ml of distilled water and I am very perticular on checking the oil, water, transmission fluid etc but just didn't remember the battery. I would hate anyone to get caught out on such a simple thing.............Dohh! Cheers Ady

I am awaiting delivery of my JWT chip and boost jets and in the mean time have installed an aftermaket boost guage. When running the car, the guage is only reading 6-7 psi. I have read some other posts regarding safety boost at 7psi but what this is, and how to i get it up to the stock 9psi before i install the new chip and boost jets? Import TT Manual Cheers Bazz

93 UK TT White smoke all the time from both exausts, I thought it might be condensation but it still smokes even when after half hour drive this has now been like this for about 2months but now its getting warmer (a bit) and very few cars on the road are smoking. No oil in water or oil leak/loss but if i were to do a compression test would this identify a cylinder heas gasket problem?? I really cant see it being a turbo problem due to the way i have been driving recently (but u never know) recent full service inc pvc valves fuel regulator & dampener car drives as it should ?? if you have read this far your input would be appreciated ;) cheers

Sounds strange but here you go... I have a twice occuring problem with my new tyres. I have VERY broad two-piece Volks Racing alloys, tyres being 255/40/17's and my problem is that since having my new tyres fitted BOTH have come off the bead and TOTALLY deflated at different times and when re-fitted no evidence can be found as to why this has happened! Luckily both times Ive only been travelling at about 30 mph but BE WARNED if you have broad rims and are getting tyres fitted, the same could happen. Apparantly even though its only the smallest of size jumps, for a 17 this a a very broad tyre fitment and problems can occur with beading.

The offset ofr the zed is 38...42 (I think) Does this mean the front wheel offset is 38 and the rears are 42? I have some Sparco racing alloys with an offset of 47? I think So would I need to put 9mm spacers on front and 5mm on rear? Ta very muchly

Would they take chroming? Would they still look crap? ;)

Pushing the car Quite hard round a fast sweeping left hander when it felt like a lump went through the steering wheel. Followed by arse end coming unglued and a short fight for survival. Once I regain control of the car the steeing wheel was at least 20 degrees out of true. the tracking seems fine and having had the car on the ramps there is no obvious signs of any thing wrong. ????? Anyone Please No it's not an after market steering wheel. When you move the steering wheel with engine off it solid as a rock. It has been off though when I had the Tubs reconed last year. The engine was out and when the rack was put back together the steering wheel was out of line …

I need to sort out some new tyres for my front wheels. I've been using Falken FK451 225/50/16 and have the 245's on the back. However it is a two week wait for falkens due to them being out of stock, I need some tyres which are of an equal performance for their price as the falkens. I don't want crap on my front wheels yet i don't want to buy an ultra high performance tyre as I don't think I'll have these wheels for that long. I can get the falkens for about £89 a corner fitted.

Anyone here ever had a quote to have this done to their Z? response on other forums has been "you cant get paint like that" to "you would have to chrome each part". Rage do a Chrome paint, and Mercedez has developed one too to do the car above. Apparently it is 50(?) times tougher than normal paint applications too. Even better, anyone got ever seen a Z that has had an effect like this or similar?

Ok i know it would be far easier to buy a TT but its more fun to experiment and do something different! plus the condition of my NA is to good to let go. So does anyone know much about supercharging a ZX or if its been done before? I have seen those electric superchargers on ebay before but am not sure how good they would be. I would be gratefull for any info Cheers

Had a bit of trouble with my speedo on the car, would now and then sit on 0mph and then start working again although the mileage clocks always worked even if the speedo wasn't. After reading a lot of posts I replaced the speed sonsor which did not solve the problem. I then went to a carpark with the hood off the dash to get to the back of the speedo and have a feel about while driving in a circle. I found a point where I could make the speedo work and then stop working by pushing at a certain point. So last night I took the speedo out and undid all the screws, cleaned the contacts and did it all back up. Took her out for a drive and all was working fine! This morni…

Hi guys Sorry if this had been posted many times before but im seriously considering getting a 300zx in replace of my 200sx.Insurance quotes have come back rther favourably which means now all i got to do is decide which 1 i want Id love to get the turbo and prices arent that bad now but the only thing im worrying about is the reliability, cos i expect that when something goes wong its gonna cost quite a bit So the question is which is the more reliable of the two and avergae running/repair costs through out the year? What is the difference between the Uk and Jap spec models? Thanks :bow:

I just had my long overdue 4 wheel alignment done (Ive had the car for 8 months and kept putting it off) - the front was way out, equivalent to about 7mm!!! They did a great job, I watched them do it, sat right next to the car, watched the tv monitor as they made the adjustments, bringing the on screen numbers from the "red" into the "green". They give you a computer printout of the before and after settings. I would highly recommend them to anyone in the Derby-Nottingham area. I know it helps with the air flow, making it smoother, but is it really with doing? I have spent hours doing it and only done 1 :eek: Is it worth doing the rest? You can see the difference. The one infront has been done and at the top one which hasn't and you can see the bumps and cast lines.

When I got my car it had an alarm fitted and the dealer tried to just give me the alarm remote and the regular keys. I got him to include what I think is the original Nissan 'remote blipper' thing. It's black with four buttons; a big semi-circular grey one at the top then three smaller round black ones in an up-side-down L shape below it. I tried pressing some near the car and I think there was a bleep but I'm a bit nervous incase it immobilises the car or something. So ... does anyone know how it works? :hyper:

COULD ANYONE HELP ME WITH MY REAR HATCH(ON THE CAR!! ;) ) WHEN DRIVING ALONG IVE GOT A CONSTANT RATTLE FROM THE REAR. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN ADJUST THE STRIKER AND LATCH. Can someone give some advice,i've seen a lovely import auto the dealer says it's a 93,it has a rear spoiler brake light but the seatbelts are in the doors,it's leather interiror but it also has the earlier style cloth.....it also has the clocks in both MPH and KMH is this a genuine '93????

right what i need is a STEP BY STEP guide of what to do next......... i have a auto TT and i want to improve its performance, power BHP speed or whatever else you might want to call it....... Currently i have: 1. a big twin exhaust kit 2. HKS mushroom type filter (apparently very good) 3. oil cooler. and thats it. I have £1000 to spend so what can a do to make it more powerful. cheers p.s. dont understand what a stage 1 conversion is but is that what i should be doing if so what does it involve.

My other turbo'd car has an IC that stays cool and boost pipes that stay pretty cool. Last couple of days I start using the zed again because its sunny dry and cold. It goes brill and the boost is high. Yet even after pottering when I stop it and check the engine the boost pipes are always warm, the plenums are hot and the metal parts even at the sides of the rad are hot. I wondered if my ICs are partly blocked off with dead bugs etc and not cooling like it should. Any ideas?

Anyone know where I can get hold of an aerial adapter for a Jap Z? Want to be able to order it online if poss.
