I installed the AVC-R a few weeks back. However, I'm having real difficulty getting rid of some boost spikes. The unit was relatively easy to configure for two boost levels of 0.8 bar and 1.0 bar and went into self learning mode. However, I can't get rid of initial boost spikes. It's hard to explain this one so I've knocked up two graphs which I've attached to this post. The spikes are overshoot spikes where the boost first rises. After that, the boost is very stable. The boost appears like the first graph I've attached. I've tried reducing the start duty to get rid of the spikes but that just makes it go like the second graph I've attached. This is no use at al…

Hi, Noticed that my car has started making a loud grating/groaning noise. Thought it was from the passengers left wheel area but on looking at the car tonight and bouncing the corners I get a lesser groan from back passenger wheel/suspension. I got my torch out and had a look under the wheel arch - the silver shock bar is showing, the rubber sleeve has gone brittle and perished. If this is exposed I supose the grease/lubricant could have dried up?? Is this likely to cause my groaning problem - dont get it much on flat roads, so i suspected it might be the suspension... Can i get the sleeve replaced or is it a whole new shock? If it needs replacing is it b…

Whilst waiting patiently for my Kebab to arrive I noticed a very loud zed pass by. Just glimpsed it had Blue dustcap neons, could not make out the rest of the car as it had gone before my eyes fully focused.

I need to take my Zed from London over to Manchester. I dont really wanna drive it as it has a few problems from bursting hoses to a timing belt which needs doing!!! Has any1 ever used the AA and asked them to recover a vehicle and drop it to a destination of your choice even it is all the way up to Manchester. What did you exactly do!!! As i live in West London and the car is in East London, i wanna pick it up from there and take it direct to Manchester. Would the AA refuse to recover me and take me to Manchester due to the distance. I thought of making the excuse it needs specialist attention!!! Any Ideas Guys Fas

Does anyone know how big the pedals are on an Automatic (Jap TT)? Reason I ask is I'm gonna be ordering some of the screw in pedal cover things tonight but I'm not picking up my Zed until tomorow. Want to make sure I get a similar size to the existing pedals. Cheers, David

Just ran a Conzult power balance test and got 6 failed cylinders. How on earth can this happen?

My side indicators are a nasty orange colour while the front and rear ones are not. Does anyone know any clear or dark tinted replacements that fit? Also, how do you get the old ones off? Do they slide? If so, which way? Thanks gents :hyper:

Hi Guys, I'm planning to re-trim my Z in leather. Obviously being leather, I can't stretch the material around the corners, so I'm going to sew the edges with a contrasting thread. By looking at the contours of the surfaces I can just about gauge where the joins should be, but does anyone have any pictures of their sewn leather retirms, so that I can check? Luke mentioned that his Z Centre sets are sewn, so are there any pics of these? Pictures of each pannel would be much appreciated if someone's got the time. Thanks Ch :)

just wanted to make sure i`m not being taken for a ride by the government. just bought a vented panel for my Z from the states. It cost me $155 including postage. anyway when the postman came to drop it of he said i had to pay a customs & excise charge of £25. i was a bit shocked as i have bought a few things from the states and a few have been heavy and large (like my blow up doll) and i`ve never paid any taxes. Is this right? How come i have to pay for this and not for other stuff? (postman said "some stuff get through whilst other stuff s charged!!!!!) Just fitted the front strut from courtesy and the hood wont close so i had to bent inside some of internals of the hood.Anyone had the same problem?

i know the jap spec zx has folding wing mirrors,activated by a switch on the console.ok i have a uk spec one without folding mirrors,and a switch on the console that has power to it,(coz it lights up when switched on)a rocker switch..it doesnt seem to do anything except light up..i took it out a while ago and two of the wires were cut and isolated,does anyone have any ideas? was it front fog light switch?.is this normal on the uk zx tt.

Ive seen a cover for the 300zx that fits it like a glove even round the mirrors it was made of a thick canvas,ive lost contact with the guy who had it and im wandering if anyone here knows of where to get one. i think he paid 200 pounds for it.

Hi, With Fas's mates Z being nicked on the weekend and someone trying to nick my mates just before Christmas, I was wondering a couple of things. 1. How come scum can get around Thatcham fitted alarms? I thought the point of these were to cut off various things in the car to stop it being started. How the hell to they trace wires etc in a Z engine bay to be able to start the car?? 2.What can be done to beef up our Z security? Is there any cut off points that can be wired up to extra swiches? 3. Can Bob or anyone else in the know suggest/supply anything out there to stop scum taking what doesn't belong to them? Vijay

Has anyone got a spare jap spec speedo dial 'cause mine has a load of stuff stuck to it as if someone has tried to stick some new dials on then given up. It's only the speedo one. ;)

I have just recently had a problem with missfiring and it's been intermittant and now it's all the time. I have cleaned out all the electric connectors for the coil packs and injectors and it seems to only be running on 4 cylinders if that. Couldn't hardly pull away from a diesel Xantia the other day. Seems very reluctant to accelerate at all now :( Have currently got the battery dissconnected to re-set the ecu. How do I do a diagnostic whilst I'm at it? Vould it be the PTU (series one). The guy who had it before me put a second hand one on in september 2002 so dont know if this is the problem :confused: I do need to cleand the throttles out as they haven't…

I've just got myself a Zed and am looking for any replacement Automatic gear knobs that are around. I knows there's the Razo one that looks like something out of Star Trek (no offence to those who love it, just my taste), but I can't find any other ones that have overdrive in them. Hey Fellas, Just a quick one, Had my 300zx for over a year now, its had an ECU upgrade by 'Kakimoto racing' in japan - for the first time today i took it to the end of 2nd gear but i noticed that it didnt hit any rev limit???, To make sure i wasn't imagining it i tested it in 1st gear from a set of lights and at 8500rpm i bottled out!, it sounded like an F1 car! I thought they limited at about 7000??? The thing is the rev gauge only goes upto 9000rpm and the engine never hit a limiter, is it common for this to be removed??? Thanks Tom

im thinking ov lowering my z does any1 no ov any good kits also i heard it will alter the camber and scrub the tyres off wots the best way round this.
