General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Anyone have any ideas on this one... temp sensor shows just below 50% temp which is my normal... but when I boot it and spin up turbos, the sensor going down to nearly 0% and flickers all over the place down there..... stop booting it and after 20 secs or so it settles at below 50% again. My first thoughts were that I had a water leak again, and that there was enuf water to cover the sensor just about, but when the engine was pushed (more water over turbos ?) the temp sensor was finding itself in air, leading to *****cks reading.. flickering due to intermittent water contact ? However, now engine is cool, I have taken rad cap off and it's full to brim…

Other than the price that Nissan charge for them, is there anything special about the balance bar O rings.

I am thinking of buying a fiberglass spoiler (prob. from Luke) and fitting it myself. I have seen the step by step instructions for removing the old one. I have some questions on installing the new one (does any know of a site that has a step by step installation ?) 1. Can the old holes be filled with fiberglass resin instead of welding them up with steel? 2. What kind of finish is on the new fiberglass spoiler ? What kind of primers, sealers, etc. does it need before its final colour spray ? 3. The new spoiler is bonded on to the boot lid with Sika adhesive/sealer, but after that does it normally get filled and blended with resin around its perimeter ? D…

Bayside as in R34,or Daytona as in the new 350Z? These cars were at PPS today,the Daytona is more of a purple than a blue. The wide arch is Daytona and the SWB is Bayside

Well no sooner had I thought I'd cured my missfire, well I hadn't. The two cylinder that now missfire are the centre ones on both sides. One may be a faylty spark plug but I have swapped coils and tested injectors are firing and all seems OK. :confused: Please help guy's as the car isn't really driveable in this state. Does this sound like a wiring problem or PTU related? :confused: Ivan

Hi Guys I want to try out my car with the HICAS deactivated and have heard that this can be done by unplugging the HICAS sensor on the steering wheel boss. I've had the thing apart today and took some photos. Could anyone point out which of the connectors relates to the HICAS? Many thanks Jon

Want to get my car lowered at the start of the summer, as my car sits a little high. Most people recommend Eibach springs with KYB dampers. The Eibach springs are 0.8" lower than stock. Does this really make a huge difference? There is some cars on here that look really low, what are you using? I dont want to go silly low, just enough so there is very little gap between tyre and arch. Any suggestions?

Got quite a low frequency rear end vibration, feels worse when pulling away. Could this be prop shaft bearing? It seems I need an O2 sensor (l h side), but there are two types, 3 or 4 wire. My Z is a 1990, any ideas which type I need?

The theory about lightened flywheels and top pulleys seems ok to me, - free revving, faster spool up etc, but then I remember that my engine is trying to push well over a tonne of car at high speed, so why does spinning a few kilogrammes of stock spec metal make so much difference? Can anyone explain it to me??

I've found my problem!!!!! It was the coil pack on the drivers side rear. Swapped a couple of coils around and I pulled the plug off the coil I thought was faulty and it didn't make a difference to the revs. Also I found that one of the other side cylinders wasn't firing so I whipped out the coil pack (which was the centre one) and swapped it with the fron one and noticed that there was a lot of corrision in the bottom of the middle (faulty) spark plug bore. And this was the problem (I think) on that side. Now what would be causing this corrosion? (Dont say water :D ) Do you think that the coil pack was leaking? Guys I received my Conzult from Danny the other day. Iam in the Wirral so if any one needs a hand, fault finding/repairing their motors, give me a bell.
