  2. I've found I CAN get my ECU re-programmed on my 99 NA auto.  I think it'll remove the 130mph top speed limiter and give me more go in the gears and raise the rev limiter to 7200rpm. Does anyone know if this is a good idea? What effect will it have on engine (or other bits) life? Any idea how much more 'go' I'll feel in the gears? What about fuel consumption? And any idea how fast it'll go with no limiter? I'd like to get it done but not if it'll cause problems. Thanks gents (and ladies)

My timer does the preset countdown without a problem, but doesn't seem to want to do the auto feature - I set it to 30 seconds, go for an "enthusiastic" drive, but when I stop it's still at 30 seconds. Also, when I tried to have a play with the attack mode, the timer just appears to switch off as soon as I release the handbrake. The speed (purple) wire was spliced into the yellow / green speed wire into the ECU as per the diagram downloaded from here. My car already had an ancient turbo timer in, and I used the harness from that, the only difference there is from the instructions that came with the GReddy unit is that the shift lock release wire is connect…

The ABS light is on and the pump on the distribution unit above drivers rear wheel is running continuously. I've checked the obvious. Any ideas??. It sounds to me like a computer fault, anyone got a spare. Thanks for any help.

I had my exhaust replaced some time ago for a stainless 2.5" HKS system with Cobra straight through back boxes. Sounded Well. Decatted it - sounded better. Now I have had the middle boxes removed so its straight through to the back boxes (which again are straight through). Sounds extremely well, deep, throaty and LOUD. However I have noticed now the right exhaust rattles, not the exhaust but it sounds like something in the engine making a noise? The only other thing I have noticed is a little black smoke from both exhausts. Any ideas? I can probably record the sound as an mp3.

I have a 1992 ZXTT, when ever i try to floor it the turbo guage stay's in minus? It doesn't even reach 0, I checked for air leaks but nothing found. I don't know if the turbo is nakered, the car doesn't smoke and drive's fine, just without the turbo's kicking in. I got under the car and revved it up and found that the accuaters don't move, but i'm not pretty sure what that would imply? I don't think the intercoolers are blooked. Any idea's??

Following on from Jeff's instructions in the thread below [ Rattling driver's window ( fix) ], I find that the required nut has sheared off completely. Does anyone have one of these I can purchase off them? It looks like it's the "bolt part" I need, which forms a flat mushroom head in the driver's window pane, and runs in the vertical groove in the door, plus the nut. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=37841 Thanks, Simon.

Ive got a tricky issue to try and explain..dont know if anyone else can relate with this or have the same effect: (Jap spec autobox, overdrive on) Drive down the road (normal driving, not flooring etc), car drives fine... Foot down, get some speed, foot up, in last gear, foot off, car seems to vibrate some, but then sometimes getting up to that speed its ok? Its not consistent, and doesnt happen lower down the speed range, prob around 50 ish... as i say, difficult to describe so i know its a long shot but...

What sort of movement should be evident when the nut in the centre of the top front strut mounts are levered from side to side.....on my 300 I can move the nut freely......too freely I think. Am I right in saying even though the mount is rubber there should be next to no free movement. Cheers John Crisp

Finally come to the conclusion my old air horn is totaly busted and having no nissan horn fitted I am going to just buy a new horn, does anyone have any suggestions? the last one i had fitted wouldn't have been out of place on a noddy car, it wouldn't have scared a 12 year old girl on a push bike, it was actually embarrising and i refrained from using it (hence not worrying about it being offline) I want something that is befitting to the car, IE people shit them selves when they hear it :D

Afternoon  I'm gonna need some orange rear indicator bulbs when I fit my clear rear lights - where do people get these as obviously the stock diffusers are orange so only clear bulbs are needed? Or can you get any sort of paint/spray which changes the colour of the existing bulbs? Think I'm gonna need front indicator ones too as one got boshed up. Also I've heard of silver ones which light up orange - they'd look better when "off" i guess. Cheers for any info :hyper: Pete

Hi, I've not posted here before but i'm currently running a Celica GT4 and thinking of upgrading to a 300ZX, nicer looking motor with, from what I hear, outstanding performance, I've also been told they can be fraught with problems and had several people warn me not to get one....I'm a bit confused, famed Nissan reliability not all it's cracked up to be? or model specific problems? Or a load of cr*p and they are extremely reliable? Having gone through nightmares with the GT4 I'm hoping to get something less problem riddled so any help and advice will be appreciated. Also I'm thinking of a budget around £4K is this realistic for a decent ZX?

So I've finnaly got around to ordering a series II PTU.............. My question is, when I come to fit it, do I just plug the new harness into the car's loom, or is it a cut a solder job? And where would you recomend me to re-locate it? And will this affect the water temp sensor wireing? TIA
