Hi, Had car in for a MOT/Service and the garage told me my front discs were worn :( - fine gotta have them done & gave them go-ahead. After several days & 5+ different sets of discs they cannot find a set that fit properly... They are all out slightly. They are experinced 300zx importers/mechanincs too.. They are saying the brakes are not normal even though they look like normal nissan brakes.... They have not seen anything like it - normally off the shelf discs fit them fine, They are suggesting that nissan may have used a different set of brakes perhaps on a limited production run or something like that. I have a Jap NA 1991 - H reg. …

I know i'm gonna regret asking this, but how exactly do they work? So you bung it in where the afm goes and pressurise with about 3-5 psi-right? The air goes in the induction pipes,to the tubs, then the intercoolers and in the tb's.This is where I get fuzzy  What stops the air going past the butterflys, into the plenum, cylinders etc-and straight out an open exhaust valve? I await the onslaught!! :x:

Luuurvvley sunny dry day, young (18/19, lucky ba**ad) driving around large roundabout, saw me staring/drooling, decided to boot it, lost the car and nearly totalled it and a few other cars with it!.... :( Don't think it'll be around too long, hes a student at the college where I work at and judging by his driving incapabilities it'll be for sale in a local scrappy near you!

This all started about a week ago. When i put my foot on the accelerator, rather than getting vrooom, i get, splutter splutter vrooom. If i let the car idle and tap the accelerator the revs drop a couple of hundred rpm before rising. I have brought this up in an earlier thread and jaz suggested playing with the temp sensor connector. Done this and i thought this solved the problem, but its bnack again. Driving home from work, the car was spluttery again. I stopped the car and it wouldnt start again. cleaned up the temp sensor connector again, no change! When turning the key, it ticked over but wouldnt bite. Tried it again with the pedal to the florr and it eventua…

The car went for it's MOT today and failed  because the brake lights weren't working. The guy said the fuse kept blowing and that there must be a short circuit *somewhere*. Can anyone tell me if I put a 25 amp fuse in there instead of a twenty will this stop it blowing or is this a bad thing to do even if it was only temporary? He pointed to the front and then the back of the car and said there's a short somewhere there.... Is there a wiring map of the car somewhere, or can anyone tell me where I should start looking to sort this out. Is there any other weird cause I should be looking for? All the other electrics seem fine. Any help with this would be …

My problem is... the connectors that go on to the coils are not in good shape; in fact one of them is a bit broken, causing uneven running. MJP can't source these at present - does anyone know where I can get them? Cheers Ed

ok i'll try to make this understandable i ordered the boss from mjp to retain the hicas and cruise, and brilliant service:) ordered a momo evo from larkspeed, again here within 2 days, but when i opened it they had sent the millenium, so i sent it back and got the evo back today, but the small one as they had no 350's in stock, so rather than wait i grabbed what they had, sorry for all the waffle but not sure if it makes a difference, ive fitted the boss, but cant fit the horn that came with the boss, which the hicas and horn plugs into, the reason being it protrudes to much, so when you fit the evo centre cap, it presses the horn all the time i assume …

Any tips on how to install a harness in a SWB? Looking at installing a 4 point harness with fixed back bucket seats. I'm guessing the side straps can be bolted to the floor pan, but what about the rear ones. Would a rear strut bar help, and use that for the straps? Don't really know much about this sort of thing and there aren't many old threads about it either. All hints and tips gratefully received.

My Z started running really rough a couple of weeks ago and I thought it was due to the amount of rain that had come in through the bonnet bulge and caused electrical problems. After swapping the PTU, CAS, ECU, injector connectors and coils at PaulG's we finally found the problem. Checked the timing and found it's running at about 40 degrees! Set it to 15 ish and it wont run at all. The compression was reading about 120 on the front 4 cylinders but only 75 on the 2 back ones :( The 2 rear plugs had half the bottom electrode burnt off  Is there anything other than a slipped belt could cause this? There was a lot of water getting onto…

Hi all, just a quick note to introduce myself. Dont yet own a 300ZX, the main reason ive joined the forum is to gain more knowledge about the car before i do buy one. Went to Japfest at Castlecoombe, quite a good turnout you had, didnt see many on the track though (compared to loads of 200SXs), why is this? Also went to the drifting competition at Silverstone recently, great fun. I'm guessing drifting must be near impossible in a car with four wheel steering? Met two or three of you at JAE @ Billing Aquadrome a few months back, sorry cant remember your names but nice1 to the chap who let me sit in the drivers seat of his lovely looking TT (think you sa…

I'm still looking to buy one, or should I say, I'm DEFINITLY buyuing one, just need to sell my current car....... R reg Renault Megane 1.6e Sport???????!! :hyper: Thanks!

Mate of mine has a 1990 N/A it has induction and decated exhaust. It has a flat spot between 1.5 and 3k revs. He says it feels like an old carb car that is flooding, the more you put your foot down worse it gets. If you lift off a little it improves a bit. over 3k all is well, with no probs at all. Def no fuel leaks, thinks there maybe air leaks. Anyone have any ideas? Over to you guys.

Hi all - and thanks for the replies on the other qs. It's been a long day.... The last one for tonight is a new bloody noise. After getting my Z back from replacing the knock sensor (involves removing / replacing the plenum, turbo downpipes and a lot of other stuff) and the O2 sensors, I am now getting a strange zoooshing ( © N Molesworth) noise on hard acceleration. I'd swear blind it wasn't there before. If I'm tootling around, no noises. If I am firm with the loud pedal, as the boost gauge swings past 0, there's a high pitched zoosh. Then the zoosh fades as the gauge goes back down. I am reasonably certain this is not mechanical - there's no horrib…

Attn Gurus, I just had a shedload of work done (if I knew then what I know now......) This was kicked off by the knock sensor needing replacing so, as those gurus who have done it will remember, the whole top of the engine had to come off. Everything from the lower inlet manifold upwards. I realise (now) just how big a job this was but am still slightly  stunned by the size of the bill. The question is, how long do you think this lot would take? Is 24 hours reasonable? That's 24 working hours for one bloke (3 days) or two blokes working for 12 hours etc etc. Does anyone have access to Nissan book times? I had other stuff - like replaci…

How do rubber lovers, my rear Bridgestone S-03 are just about to give up the ghost. 245/45 ZR16. We don't seem to have had a tyre thread recently, so what would you recommend to replace? Car is stock, I do about 12-15,000 miles per year and I don't have a heavy right foot. Only an idiot buys tyres because they look cool but I am very tempted by the Eagle F1 because of the tread pattern :nelson: I must say I am disappointed with the performance of the S-03. I used to run S-03 on J-Spec (225/50) wheels at the back and got 18,000 - 20,000 miles out of a pair (18 or so months). Last year I "upgraded" to UK spec rear wheels (245/45) and only got 12,000 mil…

It's not looking good guy's, took the pcv valves off today and checked them, the small valve inside seems to be moving freely, hope thats a good thing!!, no sludge in pipes, or the valves give them a clean up, put it all back together, started the engine, as soon as it started to warm up, it started smoking again. Please tell me we are not talking turbo's?? Jeff tt, if you read this, your advice would be appreciated :hyper:
