boldy Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 My rad decided it was,nt going play ball anymore last week , i phoned nissan for a price !! £277 plus vat , ouch , but not wanting the same problems you get i.e side tanks going brittle and being bloody puny for such a big and hot engine Manta v8 recomended i phoned SERCK INTERTRUCK they looked at the old rad to see if an uprated core could be fitted , the side tanks are available seperately from nissan but they are too slim to fit a thicker core . They said they can make a new rad out of brass with a triple core , aparently having a much improved flow rate and obviously more coolant. The best bit £190 plus vat , quite a good upgrade me thinks ! Quote
cybernet Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Koyo do a great uprated rad for the Zed. NE Performance in the Traders section sell 'em. Steve :) Quote '93 UK TT Manual [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

mantav8 Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 Take a look here Steve :) Cheers for that steve,we looked at these, but a bit ott for an everyday car, obviuosly more expensive. The one boldy went for is a ''proper'' rad-copper and brass-and easily repaired in future if needs be ;) Quote
sideshowbob Posted September 1, 2004 Posted September 1, 2004 I had one made by serckx, cost £240 all in. Made from pig iron! You'll have to give 'em the old one as a pattern though. Took them a fookin' month to make it though!!!!...Oxford branch. Stress you want the bleed screw fitted, i didn't get one in mine! Quote
WillieO Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 UK one is has 30% more cooling than the import one so a 2nd hand one of those is a good place to start Quote
mantav8 Posted September 3, 2004 Posted September 3, 2004 Boldy picked up the rad today from serck's-took a week just like the man said! 230 inc'-new rad cap and a top bleed fitted, the core is a three row jobby, and I gotta say I'm that impressed, think i'll have one!! Gonna ask john[rad anorak]if he can put me a threaded boss in the side tank to take a level switch, for early warnings!! ;) Quote

boldy Posted September 4, 2004 Author Posted September 4, 2004 Got the rad today , no probs fitting it , just had to trim a bit of the rubber of the top brackets for them to seat properly , there were no mounts for the cowling but there again i did,nt ask john to fit them ! When i bought the car ( Deanos jap tt ) i knew the heater matrix had gone and been bypassed, got a S/H one through the club so i,ve put that in aswell, quite easy to do with the dash in (if its an auto ) just fiddly , tis if yo,ve got fingers like bananas. So finally ive got cooling at the front and heat in the middle bit ! One happy boldy  Quote
