HELP I believe my Z is running a little rich and want some help. I have got it booked in for service on 21st but that's a little way off. Anyway, the car is an auto, and is currently idling at nearly 1300 rpm. When you put it in drive it drops to about 800 rpm but when you release the brake and touch the accelerator the revs drop as though it is going to stall and then stutters a lttle pulling away and the whole car is vibrating more than normal and seems to be low on power. Anyone have any suggestions. I think it may be misfiring as well. I personally have no idea about auto's. Thanks for any help. Yampiedog

I've brought a Rad Pipe kit from Smithy, and have found a problem. Both my top and bottom hose outlets are about 34/35mm, now according to Smithy they should be 38mm!! (Which I don't doubt in any way what-so-ever ;) ) My top hose has the Nissan logo and the number 96 on it, the bottom hose also has the Nissan logo and 96 printed on it. They are both 38mm on the block end fitting and 34/35mm on the rad end  Can anyone shed any light on it? I've looked on http://www.300zx.lv, but they don't list a separate type for either the rad or hoses. Please help, as I don't want to have to put the old rubber ones back on :(

I use my car for work every day and i,ve never had a problem with it being reliable(touch wood). But i tried to start it yesterday morning and the red ignition lights showed really dim for a couple of seconds before going out. When tried re-starting it , it was dead. I put a battery charger/booster on it and it started first time. its not long had a new battery fitted. I took it out for a spin after and it ran fine without and problems. And it re-started again straight away. But wouldnt start again this morning. Any ideas???

One of the big end bearings has gone again due to running low on oil. Bit stupid of me as this is exactly what happened last year. (Note to self: check oil every week!) Took me seven hours to get the engine out, which personally I don't think is bad at all. Especially working with a trolley jack on the driveway with no help from anyone else. I even wrote down full instructions (and took a few piccies) as I was going along so I can do a detailed engine removal write up for you boys ('coz I'm such a nice bloke!) I've got access to another car for two weeks so I'll be putting the engine back in the weekend after next. Should be plenty of time to get the crank …

Hi, I am looking at the above oil for my Z as it seems to be the Oilmans choice. So what do others think after using it, and where is the best place to get it, and for how much? One Scooby forum did a group buy at 40 pounds for 6 liters, and I have seen it for 35 pounds for 5 liters. I have asked the Oilman for a price via email but have had no reply yet, (I did do it yesterday and I guess he's closed for w/end). I currently run Mobile One 0/40. Only becasue I had it in the garage and thought I would try it but I dont like it, my engine is slightly noisier on Mobile One than before. Any thoughts, views or comments?

I see in a demon tweeks mag that they do a thermal lagging kit for turbos aswell as the ehaust pipe lagging, to basically dissipate the heat. Not the cheapest stuff to buy but I have found a very cheap source whilst working with some pipe laggers ;) just wondering if I will gain out of doing this or if there will be any disadvantages????? cheers John D

Happy new year to you all. Had my ZX (unmodified auto uk car) for about a week and have a few questions as this is my first 300ZX. (1) I was advised at service that my drive belts are starting to crack. Cam belt was changed at 60k (97k on the clock now) Should I replace the belts now or will they be ok for a a few k or so? (2) What fog lights should the car have? I only have rear offside. Surely I should have more fog lights somewhere!? (3) Turbo noise.... yes I know this is an old chestnut. I would characterise the sound as a distant US style police siren as it rises in pitch. Always makes me check the mirrors lol  Anything to worry about here? …
