General Discussions - 300ZX Related

the original foam spoiler has had it and i would ideally like a better condition one of the same but apparently very hard to source. mine has the common problem where the trim at the bottom, with the fairlady writing on it, is coming loose and looking pants. any ideas on new spoilers or where to get a mint original? cheers lads :)

Can anyone advise on correct tyre pressures for 265/35/18 and 235/40/18 on a Z please ?

When I left the UK in Dec 03, I expected to be back in no short order, so I put the Z in storage. Unfortunately, career wise it all went downhill from there, my employer was sold, I was retrenched and my work permit is lost, so I can never return to live and work in the UK. But what of the Z? I am coming back in July to get it out of storage, and do one last tour of the UK before exporting it to Australia. Obviously, I need MOT, Tax disc and insurance and all is being arranged by the guys storing it (free plug to Matt of Elite Auto Storage - a good guy and a great service). What do the numbers stamped on top of the pistons refer to? I am thinking they are something to do with the "grade" but there are only 3 grades and I have piston/s that have "5" stamped on them. Anybody know??

Hi Pat, Thanks for the lighting pod that turned up yesterday. I need to know did the dashboard dimmer switch work when it was fitted to your zed? My problem is that when I turn on the driving lights I should see the dashboard & dials light up. They don't and I had been told a new dimmer switch would do it. After puting in a new CD player and speakers a few weeks ago, i never got round to working out how the arial connects in. i wasnt bothered at the time but iv actually started to miss the radio. The standard jap plug has 2 prongs on it. does one go to a window arial and the other to the electric arial? i cant see an adapter in the shops so what one do i have to cut to solder on the correct plug. cheers

is it a common thing with using the r33 skyline brakes to have incurable judder through steering wheel only. I can't seem to get rid of it when braking at 90mph slowing down to 70 . the disc's have been skimmed and rechecked for run out, poly bushes fitted to all suspension parts, no play in top links, ball joints no play in them, steering rack no exessive play any ideas???? richard

Hello All My 300zx 1990 NA broke the odometer just a few weeks ago. The trip, speedometer and the odometer are NOT working, the rest of the gauges are working fine (fuel, temp and oil pressure). How do I fix this problem? :confused:

Hi All i cant remember if you have to take out the radiator to change the condensor or if you can get it out through the headlight centre panel after removing the airfilter and MAS?( avoiding Rad Removal?)

Spotted in Kidderminster on the Stourport road. Looked very nice, didn't get the chance to get the Reg. Thought it could have been JD but the driver had blond dyed hair up the top. I did give the thumbs up, but didn't notice. Forgot to say this was on Saturday 23rd @ around 2pm.

Hi all have not used Zed for a few month's and seem to have lost my kickdown on full acceleration/Thottle? Just stays in whatever gear your in ie overdrive at 75mph even if you boot it...Unless i downchange manually or turn off O/D... Gearbox Diag all O.K!! I dont want to start striping things down yet until ive had some replys...

Hi there, I've been asked to sort out the stero in a friends 300zx convertible (1995 non turbo auto - Import) it has a kenwood mask unit at the moment and the fron speakers seem well past it, there is nothing at all from the rear, but I can't see any rear speakers - where do I find them? Weired one this but i seemed to have loost boost since Sunday? I have a Greddy Profec B 2 spec and all seems well with the controller it reads boost ok and all settings seem fine. There are no loose hoses all are tight and all electrical connections also seem ok. Whether i seem to set LO or HIGH i can only get 0.5 bar ?????? I think it's the valve but could it be the ECU and should i disconnect and re-set this to see what happens???? Anyone ever had this problem? Cheers

I have removed the whole HICAS unit all the lines fitted the eliminator bar, what is the best way to bypass the pump that fed the HICAS system? Can I just isolate the main feed line from the power steering fluid pot that branches into two on the pump it self or will this seise the pump? just the Hicas side not the power steering side. Or will I have to do it a different way? also the power steering pot has two spigots 10mm on the side. am I right in thinking I only need one of them now? I have added a pic if its of any help

Thought i had a busted turbo this week, looked like it was leaking water out of the casing. On removal of loads of stuff to get to the top of the tubby, i found it mas a little zed shaped water pipe on the return from the turbo to the plenum. £2 fix, im well happy!!!! :cool:

Hi Guys Have a look at these photos. I dont remember seeing them last time i washed the car which was about 4 weeks ago. The cracks havent broken the surface so they are definately within the lense. Im concerned what might have caused it as the other side is starting to do the same :confused:
