Was quite enjoying the ztech post till it dissapeared. As far as I am aware there isn't a professional 'mechanics qualification' in the U.K. Set up a garage, call yourself a mechanic or motor engineer and you are one. They wouldn't be the first organisation to be hounded off the forum for some shite jobs, shit happens! Anyway, mechanics, engineering, discuss?(And don't start the Z is some sort of supercar that that needs specialised skills, it's a NISSAN).

Just been looking at this 1996 car being auctioned in Japan this week, only done 21,000 miles. I was not sure what the bumper is. Anyone know?

Right boys and girls I am taking out my hicas and getting rid of the pipes and all the plumbing. I'm going to just loop the two outlet pipes on the pas bowl for now but what about the rest of the stuff, what else do I need to do to make it a propper job. Cheers Scrawn.

Can anyone help, as my bad luck seems to be going from bad to worse!! My car has the above alarm fitted, and after being parked up for a fortnight, the alarm will now not disarm. It seems like the remote has lost the code?? I have been told that if the alarm is put into valet mode, the alarm will be switched off, and the car will start, but, thats providing the valet code hasnt been changed!!! Has anyone got any ideas of what I can do should the valet code have been changed, and I can disable the alarm?? All sensible suggestions are appreciated.

It just will not switch of or reset. Is it just that the second hand one I got is knackered too or is there some kind of relay fault. Anyone got any Ideas.

rattel on tickover take revs up stop sounds like bottom crank pully ? sound like a belt slaping? any ideas not sure u can feel it thro engine when u put your hand on top

FFS, I just went to get the dipstick out and its fooking stuck. I didnt take it out when I took all the sump off when I did my oil pump. I just left it in there, didnt erally look like it was in the way. Is there any reason why it would jam. I can only pull it about 1/2 inch. I tried turning it to all angles and things... Really really dont wanna take the sump off again, I think I may just burn it all. :mad: :headvswal :smash: :wack: :x: :nelson: :nono:

Been quoted £120 to fix mine. Beraings, regulator pack etc... basically only the casing is any good, lol. He said £200 for a new one. Anyone know of a place to get a new one cheaper than £120 or shall I just phone him tomorrow and tell him to get on with it as its a good price? Thanks Mark

A few questions for MantaV8. Starting to sort the job out in my head now. The drivers side exhaust manifold looks like it's going to be a bit tight as the steering shaft is in the way. Did you use the standard type shortie headers, or make the manifold up from scratch? Notice you've got a bonnet bulge, did you need that for clearance on the filter? What's the clearance like between the clutch master cyl and the back of the rocker cover? Can't see from your pics how close it all is back there, but from my rough measuring it looks like the rocker cover and the cylinder are going to touch. Thanks for now.

well finally found my Z it was about 5 miles from where it got pinched right in the woods down a gravel footpath where its pitch black with nothing but a few farm houses around. After the police phoned I went to little daves (elmo) and we took his wheels off and went down to find it. When we eventually found it the police were already there. any ideas what type of exhaust would suit my car? shes a uk twin turbo manual that has been decatted. this was done before me and i have heard mixed veiws on takin cats off due to rear oil seal failure. but the car has two recon tubs fitted 6 months ago. i would a little more noise but not too loud. plus still like the quad pipes. any info??

When i drive with the conzult on i never get a speed reading output. Question: Does anyone know if this would affect mapping or anything ? Doesn't the ecu need to know what gear your in (by speed input?), and if so would this affect performance ?
