General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I cant find anything obviously wrong with the zx(broken spring, loose mountings), but i get a clonk on the last bit of braking. The tie rod bushes are supposed to be poly, but they are black with what looks like rust leaking out of them. :cry: Its driving like something is loose, cant see any cracks around underside of arm mounts either. Any ideas?..its been a bad week, supposed to of sold it + got another by now, but the guys stringing me along :slap:

Could anyone tell me the best place to buy a new TPS please? Nissan dealer did not want to know....made some poor excuses about it being a Jap import etc. I have code 3 fault on the auto box ecu diagnostics and the box is changing all over the place.....mainly near the red line! Would consider a used one as long as its proven a good en' Cheers.

Can anyone tell me the approx weight of a twin turbo auto zed. Im planning on moving it by a van and trailer but just trying to work out the weight? Cheers Jonce

Hey guys, First of all, as this is my first thread id like to thank you guys for the info on this site. I bought my first 300zx in December 2007 and this site (amongst others) has really helped me get a good understanding into owning a zed with some sound advice and tips. So once again, thanks :D Now, when i bought my zed, i had the guy put it through an MOT and the car flew through with no problems apart from the tyres. The rears needed changing and the fronts will need changing soon too. To get it through the MOT (and unknowingly to me) the guy had 'budget' tyres fit to the rear. right i have an unfortunate friend who owns one of these monstrosities um i mean cars :slap: it has a unique (read as a fookin nuisance) turbo supercharged engine. it comprises both parts and unfortunately is the culprit for his problems with the car. my question is where can he potentially get it refurbished / repaired in the local area for a non bank breaking charge?? thanks gaz

Do any of you peeps know a good Auto electrician thats not gonna rip me off from the Manchester Area? I've sold an Audi TT to guy in Rochdale and it has a fault with a clicking hazard warning relay/switch in the dash. I've sent up a new part but it hasn't solved the problem. I need someone trustworthy to look at it as I obviously can't be there living in Wales! Can any of you guys recommend someone please?

Please help? I'm having a few issues with my 300zx TT. Where do I start! 1. I’m having a problem where the speedo drops out and the steering gets heavy and it doesn’t change gear, etc. I replaced the Speed sensor but it still happens (Mainly when it’s wet). At times it’s like it when I start the car and I have to have Hold switched on to get it to change into second gear. I connected OBD Tech Scan to the car whilst driving and noticed that when the speedo drops out the ECU is still reading the correct speed?? :confused: . Is the a diference between turbo auto box and NA auto box? How would a second hand auto box go for?

Why do some cars make allot more torque than bhp, why do others have figures about the same and why do some have torque figures less than the bhp. What's best combination and why? also what's the best figure to go by, bhp or torque?? Are the different ways to measure torgue or is it all done by Nm? explain away, i'm stupid :D

hi guys im looking for a cover for my z32 for for indoor us only, can any one point me in the right direction please? ideally needs to be breathable as condensation can build up in temp changes with non breathable water proof covers! regards steven

putting z back together now. want to tighten the crank pulley and forund the torque to be 159-174 foot pounds! my torque wrench only goes to 150 ft/ibs + i assume you put the car in 5 gear and just rely on the timing belt to hold the torque?!? or am i supposed to hold it some other way?? :bow:

Ha ha, at last today has come. Since killing my last engine with that bloody Aston in France 15 months ago, buying a Uno's (chris) engine when he killed his. Changed the engine in the summer, had major electrical probs, Ptu, coil packs, injectors. Having completely renewed all electrical stuff, and cleaning up. got it working on all six at last, but had blockage on right bank, due to last head dying and dumping water into the cat and pipes. Hence lack of compression. Over the last few days this is whats happend. New PTU, Blitz induction kit, new cam belt, plugs, other connections. Sorted timing and mixture out, decat exhaust system and removed crappy cen…

the drivers side of the exhaust pops like a quiet backfire when cold, also seems to miss and pop if i hold the revs at any certain point if i reset tps or aiv or ecu it doesnt do it for a few hundred miles then starts to do it again also tries to stall on pulling away, not so bad when it gets warm, again if i reset those things i mentioned it doesnt do it any ideas peeps
