General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi guy's.. I'm considering a front end change on my wide arch prior to my respray. I'm currently stuck between keeping my Strosek front, or the 'Cobra' (zcentre), or the 'Viper' (zcentre). Also considering changing my bonnet and headlight panel to suit a bumper change.. I have a GRP SE Monza bonnet and matching headlight panel to fit, but this won't fit the Strosek style bumper fitment, or the two zcentre bumpers pictured :( Opinions please.. Or alternative bumper suggestions CURRENT STROSEK VIPER.. WITH OR WITHOUT SIDE SCOOPS COBRA

The speedo on my convertible ZX keeps dropping to zero now and again, sometimes it's ok but sometimes it will also be stuck on zero!! had a customer wishing to collect today but he couldn't because of this problem. The car never had this problem on the car before today so it's incredibly bad timing to go wrong, ie at point of sale!! I'm thinking perhaps the cold weather has had an adverse effect on the speedo chip?? So I have changed over the gearbox speedo sensor but it is still doing the same... I am sure it is the delimiter chip gone faulty, does that sound right because I don't really want to open up the dash for no reason... Anyone got/had the same problem …

Just coming home from work and the power steering has stopped working and the HICAS light has come one. Looked in the pot and the fluid seems to have been thrown all over the front of the engine. :cry: So my questions are these 1. Is the power steering pump at the top left of the engine as your looking at it? 2. Are there any pipes or anything around there that could have broken instead of the pump? and 3. how harda job is it to change out once a find a new one?? Cheers all

both front inside edge of tyres wearing away is this a tracking problem or a camber problem ??

Hey all i have a nasty sound when its cold but it gets less when it warms up! Can anyone help me diagnose it please! I have a 1990 300ZX (Jap spec) which is experiencing speedo problems. It has packed up completely now, but prior to that it would work when the car was just started for about 10 minutes and then stop (seemed like some circuit overheating). I have replaced the speed sensor but it has made no difference. Any ideas, could it be the coverter circuit?

Anyone have any links to jap tuning houses ?? Ta

Just wondered.... Are there any different options too ? LED etc ?? Its to go in a fibreglass standard replacement spoiler,

hi there im a newbie to this site, i have always liked the 300zx and i need advice before buying one, i have always owned vauxhalls a calibra 16 valve is what i have at the moment and i dont know alot about the 300zx apart from i want one so there is my problem what would be the best one to go for , a tt or na model, but i do know that i want a manual, so if you could give me advice and tell me what the pitfalls are of ownership, . i would appreciate any help you could give

Is there a common problem with hazards not working??? i have changed the switch already with no luck. i dont think its the relay as the indicators still click but when i turn on the hazards nothing happens. if i turn the hazards on while one of the indicators is flashing they stop altogether?????? the wiring diagram shows a control box where is it?

I'm looking at putting my old auto Celica back on the road as I have just moved house and is now a longer commute and the petrol bill is going to cripple me. I phoned my insurance company who the zed is with (Sky insurance) and they informed me that my second car cannot use the no claims that is used on the Zed (9 years). Now, I'm Confused :confused: . Will I start a new policy and then have 2 lots of no claims on the go? If I make a claim on the new policy I bet it will affect the other policy as they take into account claims on any vehicle, don't they? I just don't get how this works and how it is fair!!!!!!! Can someone explain it to me pleeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaase…

sometimes when its really cold, when i start my car misfires then clears as it starts to warm up, does anyone know what this maybe :confused:

My car idles well at 900 rpm. A little higher than stock but thats how I had it set and I like it :) Now I have changed my heater matrix the idle jumps to 1100rpm when the climate control is on. Not had it on for about a year as had no heater matrix or air con. Now the only reason I can think of for the idle increase is to power the air con pump. Well I no longer have an air con pump so I want my idle to stay at 900 with the heater on as that doesnt use loads of power like the air con. Do I just pull off the yellow plug or will that cause bigger problems?

Can't decide whether to get the alloys refurbed or just get some new ones, I guessing the refurb would be cheaper but would they comoe up as nice as a new set??

Just a quick one...... changing the engine mounts, is it an engine out job or jack up the engine remove old and insert the new one job?

Hello, i recently took my wheel in to get what i thought was a puncture repaired, however it turns out that the alloy ha begun to split a bit around the inside rim edge. The crack is abuot 2-3cm long direction square across the entire rim. Is this fixable, or is this a terminal sickness my wheel now has? Anyone know some whell repair places around Cambridgeshire area? thanks.

What would be the approx cost for an engine rebuild on a TT Zed. Engine is currently losing water & has very low compression on 2 rear cylinders ?? Where could i find a GOOD used engine ?? Thx
