How can you be sure a car is detting? i know it makes that crackling noise but when that noise goes away is there a way to tell its gone completly? Im finding it hard to keep at 14 psi with no detting... most of you know ive fitted a manual boost control the ball bearing type.. and my mods are in my signature below. ive also disconnected the actuator solenoids (well i think its the correct solenoid connectors) anyway is there anything else i should be doing, i havent had my timing checked btw.....

right how does the vvt work. i know it advances the timing on the intake side via solenoids at the back which allows oil to flow through the intake cam to the front sprocket but how does it actually adjust the cam. whats special inside the sprocket apart from the spring. oil flows into the sprocket but what does it actually do. is there a way of checking that the oil passageways are clear in the cams without removing the sprockets or damaging anything?? the vvt springs job: is it to just take up the slop in the cam or do they do something else?? vvt solenoids: can they be removed and refitted without stripping down half the engine and how can i check oper…

spent yesterday morning at tvr garage talking to the owner. initially wanted a Cerbera but the little lady has put her foot down and whats a convert for the summer...plus added running costs of cerbera has ruled it out so looked at a s2 elise, chimaera and a griffith took out a grif last year and she hated it but according to the owner at TVR garage we may have encountered a track beast with daft suspension so everything is up in air again. the griff was rough as fook on the road, bumpy, bouncey and basically a nightmare so these are the new choices... 1st - griffith 500 2nd - s2 elise 3rd - chimaera going back on a sunny day to take them o…

Hello guys, I am after some sound advice regarding upgrading my exhaust. I have been offered a Single bore exhaust conversion, i.e. all four OEM pipes just go into one pipe from the splitter. The bore is 3.5 inch at rear. Stainless steel construction. Photos:- and I was told this bolts on the back of the back cat. Is this true?? Are there any problems with the MOT if I install this exhaust?? (i.e. emissions) Also what do I need to do to the rear bumper?? Thanks in advance ZX_Steve

I know this sort of thing has been asked hundreds of times before, but can someone please advise which offset I should go for on the following wheels? I really don't want to cock it up. Ruff Racing 278 - front 18x8.5 - rear 18x19.5 Offset available is +20, or +35 Thanks!

In my 1992 Import N/A I get roughly 17.2 MPG. This consists of a 10 minute drive to work in the morning and the same back 5 days a week, with some stop starting. Does this seem about right?

I have these in my EVO and my 300ZX, sound quality is really good... this company is very good and one of the cheapest around!! They also do the components but IMHO nowadays the all in one speaker is so good unless you are very particular you ain't gonna notice too much difference... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230206344313

Had the car on conzult and its showing no reading from the o/s o2 sensor, is this likely to be the sensor broken or dodgy wiring? The car is going for a MOT soon, will this cause it to fail due to emissions?

Had a cracking new years eve, girlfriend was ill so stayed in, not a good start, Woke up today and went out to my car, some w*****s have tried prying the door open with a screwdriver, failed but made a right sodding mess, couldnt get in so ripped off my spoiler (standard), went the length of the car both sides with the screwdriver and scratched it down to the metal, folded both wing mirrors back busting them and twisted up my wipers  To memory i havent upset anybody capable of that so im thinking it was mindless vandels/kiddy thieves after my install, Ive reported it to the police and they were as much use as an ash tray on a motor bike, Its all cosmetic d…
