To All, I need some help with my drivers side door....This may make a few of you chuckle but I de-handled my door and installed a solenoid. I got it to work great but for some silly reason I was messing around with the door latch and when I shut the door, although the solenoid works and IS catching, It doesnt open!! Normally when this happens you can often push a few latches etc and hey presto....it opens but no joy...could it be a faulty door lock mech...?I know it is not the solenoid, I can manually push the door latch... Help! regards, G

This is not one of the best of examples, very dented and scratched bodywork, but very low miles of 22,500. Exterior Grade was D, (very poor), overall Grade 3.5 but only because of the low mileage otherwise this a Grade 2.5/3 car... anyhow it's one of the first i've seen in a while, even from the pic you can tell the bodywork is not that great!! Interior does look good:), the car itself is a 2+2 TT Auto... Lot's of dents and scratches shown on the body diagram!!

Hi folks, I've just had a wee service on my car and found out that my air filter was clogged badly and my air flow sensor connections were corroding. This is a K & N system, so i need to replace the air filter as it's beyond repair and to replace the sensor. I've been using more fuel than is normal and been told this could be the reason for it. Where is the best place to get a new filter and air sensor.

For some reason my stock boost gauge has stopped working, it just sits to the far left (as it does when ignition is off) on -7. I have an after market boost gauge which is working fine - shows good vacuum on idle and boost under load. There doesn't appear to be any pipes hanging off that I can see anywhere. Any ideas? Is the stock gauge electrical or mechanical? Cheers

I was just reading the Z1 site about their long blocks and they say that having a dented sump can cause oil starvation as there is only a small gap between the bottom of the sump and the oil pickup, especially bad if there is a dent in that area. My engine seems fine and pulled good figures on the dyno. Should I be changing the sump? Where abouts is the oil pickup?

Since putting new engine in, and new ptu, TT now ticks over perfect, adjusted idle and all is good. But. When stationary under no load , engine revs lovley, but turbos dont go (i think) as boost gauge stays at 0. Have cleaned every connector in engine bay and all are working, when driving it wont go over 3000rpm so i guess safe mode. Have replaced temp sensor and it works 100% When i killed the last engine the drivers side of engine was were the leak was and i guess water got into exhaust pipe. Ive established that the cat was blocked so its now gone, the passengers side is great and when reving it has lots of pressure. Problems are: 1. Have done ecu…

I have been on V-power for quite a while now (right from when it was call Optimax) but after the last refill it did seems not quite right, infact when I check my exhaust, there are quite a residue of black smoke on my otherwise clean tail pipe. Could be just bad fuel, perhaps plugs..? I'm tempted to put in Tesco's 99 Octane. What do you folks reckon? thanks

What happens if your car's on 18s and you get a puncture and have to fit that space saving spare? Surely it's smaller (diameter) than the other wheels. Does this cause a problem?

Hello I'm new here to the forums. Was advised by a friend to post here as I'm having serious trouble with my car and am looking for some advice. Someone replaced the power steering belt for me, and afterwards the car would not start :( There is no compression when trying to start the car. Diagnostic test says the coolant sensor and ignition primary are at fault, though the mechanic said it may be the timing due to the lack of compression. I'm absolutely baffled by this, as the car was running perfectly before the new belt was fitted. I live in Sheffield, so if anyone could offer advice or knows of a good garage/mechanic in Sheffield who could help, ple…

hi peeps spent ages today trying to fit my bomex mirrors which are electric the mirrors came with a connector block on them but once i'd taken my old mirrors off the blocks were different , then i noticed the colours of the wires matched so i removed both connector blocks and hard wired the wires together the result was the mirror wont adjust with the switch and now the passenger mirror which was folded back before i started doing all this wont fold out does the drivers mirror also have something to do with the passenger mirror as the wires on the bomex mirror were 3 different blues ( blue/black blue/red and i think blue/green ) and the 2 green wires arent connected t…

The previous owner said that he had the cam belt changed and all the seal etc etc. so why would there still be an oil leak from the front pulleys? I dont want to have a mechanic take everything apart just to find that its not the problem, then have to pay more to find the leak? whats the cause of oil leaking here as ive just spent hours reading up on previous threads with the same problem. im also getting oil leaking onto the nearside turbo causing it to smoke a little under the bonnet??? could the leak from the cam travel this far as the oil could splatter off the fan belts etc?
