General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I put my name down for this a few months ago and have now been told that my car has been picked to enter :hyper: My Z is going to get some paint work done on the 1st of July so hopefully it will be ready for the show on the 10th. This will be Northern Irelands first Jap only indoor car show and located at the iconic Titanic Exhibition Centre so the entries were high and a lot of people were disappointed. More info and pics to follow.

Finally got the z jacked up so could have a proper look underneath, all looks pretty solid apart from what I think is the rear inner sill (if not what do I call this area). I'm sure there's loads of people on here who have tackled something like this before so my questions are: How bad is it. How would I go about tackling this, it this a common place that rots and is there a replacement panel I would weld in or would it be a case of making my own panel. Cheers all

Hi I've had an intermittent indicator fault recently where they will work sometimes but not always Checking connections today when all of sudden lost all ignition feeds Permenant and switched no crank either I all fuses are ok and some items work I. E. Hazards horn lights Any help?

Iv just won a lwb tailgate on eBay and need to go and collect it. My cars up powerzed so I can't measure up myself and I'm trying to work out if it will fit in the back of my mondeo estate. My mondeo boot is 120cm wide X 77cm high X 170cm long at its smallest point, could someone measure up their lwb tailgate for me please Thank you

Hi Guys, my car has been up in Tamworth having the majority of its floor and both sills welded, Now the guy who took it up there isn't available any more so i am thinking of going up there and bringing it down myself, Only trouble is i dont have a trailer. So is there anyone around the Cambridge area who has one i can borrow or knows anyone who is amenable to letting someone borrow it. Thanks Rich

As mentioned in a post yesterday, I took apart my dash and dials yesterday with the intention of doing a few odd jobs. I had a look at the instrument cluster and noticed that a bulb was missing. So I put my torch behind it and found this… Now, I’m guessing it’s the catalytic converter. Which leads to a few questions… Did an ’89 Zed come with a cat? Should I be worried that a warning light has been removed? Oh and also, am I right? Is it the cat?

In short, I want to know whether they're the same. For some reason I thoughts they were different but someone said the other day they were the same so now I'm curious.

Evening all, Thought I’d take some time to do some odd jobs on my Zed while it is parked up. One of the things that was bothering me was the hazards light switch, which didn’t light up. When taking it apart, a small L shaped bar jumped out of the switch, as shown in the photo below. Does anyone know how this thing goes back together? Specifically, where this small bar/spring goes. I’d prefer to reassemble it over admitting defeat and buying a new one. Thanks

It's about time I got some pictures of this up on here. Been getting a lot of advice and I don't have a build thread. Exterior is largely unchanged. I've just tidied up the front bumper fixings. It's still not right though.

Ok so soon I should be ready to start the build of my na auto z, some of you may have seen my newbie thread that I have started. The plan is to strip her down engine out ect ect and sort the body first, bushes, suspension, under seal, all the usual things. Ok so with the engine out I want to re-build the na engine forging it at the same time, my aim is for 500whp with nice torque. So the questions. 1. Ok, a few weeks ago I posted that my wing mirror connections (plugs and sockets) were different. I was told that this was normal, the wing mirrors are from a later model. Lucky me. Both mirrors and car are JDM. The mirrors are heated folding type, the car is earlier spec and I don't think it supports heated mirrors (though can't confirm), as I have 2 pins less on the car side of the connector. So, I realised that the larger plug on the wing mirror side was the same as the car side, with the an extended 2 pin section (probably for heat). The old socket and the 'new' socket wiring colours and location are exactly the same. The only difference…

Well, as many may know, I have recently discovered that my lower radiator cross member has finally succumbed to the dreaded tin worm. Hopefully, this is day one of my journey to successfully repairing it with a suitable replacement. Wish me luck, I think I will need it. So, today I started the dismantling of the front end, and within a couple of hours I had removed the front bumper etc' This was done on the driveway, and I hope to complete the rest of the work in the garage, hopefully. Been trying to fit some decats to my car today. For info it's a 93 import TT (manual conversion) with greddy turbos. Anyway, I have some new japspeed decat pipes but they just don't seem to fit. The main issue seemed to be the drivers side, it hits the floor pan so impossible to fit properly. So, I remember ages ago that people had said the auto and manual pipes were different. I'm guessing that would be to clear the gearbox though, not the cars underbelly. Any ideas? Also the hangers didn't seem to be in the right place. Here's some photos and you can see the japspeed has an extra bend compared the the old knackered one.

So I recently bought a slicktop that had been left to die and today saw the first few hours of bringing it back to life. I bought it for the missus so she can have her own Z but really it's a big cover up so I can have another Z lol A good wash on the outside got rid of years of moss and dirt that had collected, we pulled all the interior out to give the carpet a shampoo and damn good hoover then started building it back up. Fitted a dashboard and various trims that were missing, changed the rear centre panel for a better one. Got some VGC standard rear lights going on in the next few days.
