Just before going for a quick spin, I thought I would just check a couple of things like exhaust mountings, break lines etc' Lucky I did, I discovered that my front cross member has collapsed on the front near side due to corrosion! I cant believe how bad it looks, so gutted to say the least! Looks like a very difficult job to me, so distraught at the moment. Especially with the Coventry meet just around the corner and my MOT in a months time! I could really do with some experienced advise as to how to approach this one, I am worried that it could be the end of the car. Please see pictures below, 3 of the near side and 1 of the far side.

I'm just wondering what silicon sealant people use. And, do you use gaskets as well or just the sealant

Whilst replacing my cats, I noticed my oil cooler hose is leaking where it joins the hard pipe. I wanted to replace both of the hoses in the diagram (21355mb and 21355mc). Does anyone know if these are available in the UK, from anywhere other than Nissan? I did notice Z1 sell them if I can't get them over here.

Thursday I drove over three mountains, and every time I was going down, the coolant temp started to drop and after a long period of coasting, engine braking, and light to zero load the needle would go all the way to the bottom. Then as it flattened out the temp gauge would normalize. Any ideas? I bought a new thermostat which I'm gonna fit when I do my timing belt but could it be something else? I should say that under normal driving conditions everything is normal.

Hello everyone, I am picking up the gear this weekend to start learning carbon fibre resin infusion. I am have a bunch of cheap fabric to learn with; and plenty of nicer material including carbon Kevlar etc for when I start building final parts. My aim is to create some gorgeous looking and strong aftermarket but oem shape parts for both the interior and exterior. I have searched some previous threads and sites and would like to compile a list of what is currently available and what people would like to see made. I was after some advice. I've just removed the cats from my 1989 tt manual, because they're blowing. I've always been wary of removing the cats in case it reveals any turbo issues. There is no sign of any oil in the turbo elbows, is this a promising sign?

Hi everyone. After being away from a zed for 13 years I'm finally back with a very nice zed which i brought from a club member. I'm insuring it through Footman James and as it is a special one off zed it is insured quite a bit above market value. They have said it needs to have an Independant valuation done to corroborate the price i want to insure it for. ok in the next week or so we are gonna put the parts i removed to weld on the new front passengers corner. its beed a while since the car last ran so gonna get new spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, oil filter for it. have i missed anything else i should be getting? also is there anything down in that area i dont need to put back in? or anything else you would recommend we do while we are working on it? cheers

So to comply with the request of this particularly fussy MOT tester I've had to renew my fog light situation. I've used the drivers side reverse light housing, to comply with "centre to offside" I purchased some SMD style red bulbs, on the assumption they would be bright as hell, sadly not so. So any recommendations of how to ensure its bright enough, I can see the conversation already of its not. I do not want to clutter the back of the car with some gash looking red dingle berry.

where is the best place to get the little white clips that hold the windscreen trim pieces on? are there any other clips im probably gonna need ie are the targa trims gonna come off easy? is there a guide to removing them?

I'm considering having a pair of standard snails recon'd and uprated, rather than shelling out for brand new ones - good idea or bad? If a good idea, can anyone recommend a good place to have this done? If a bad idea, may I ask why...? Thanks :)

Hello! So to continue on with my obsession with rebuilding parts of my zed now I am happy with my seats and ready to install the sub build I want to play with composites and am going to pick up a carbon fibre setup. The idea is to build some small a bits and bobs, and then perhaps try fabricating something larger like a spoiler or front lip. Does anyone had any thoughts or words of experience first hand in doing this? If it worked out I might look into getting set up as a trader to sell some bits seeing as I would have made he moulds anyway.
