Hello all, With the great increase in petrol and road tax it is with sad news that I must take the ZX off the road. The Mrs has agreed that I can keep the car but we must buy a :( diesel :( car. So... I am going to keep the Z and use it as a track day car. A few questions popped into my head:- 1) If I SORN the car, as I will be at end of April can I still use the car on track day events (I will be getting a road trailer for it) 2) What things do I need to do to it to make the car safe? 3) What things can I do to it to make it faster? 4) What about insurance? 5) Where can I race her? recoil on both the frontbelts of my JDM '91 TT is crap to say the least, also getting nagged about putting 3 pointers in the back, can this be done???? any ideas on how mucho £££'s to get new belts in the front and if poss 3 pointers in the rear. many thanks in advance. murf

I bought some parts from Pete today and they were 100% spot on and I would like to thank him for sending them out to me. A very trustworthy guy and a pleasure to deal with its a shame there is not a few more like him when you read some of the complaints we get from members when they buy parts it can be quite shocking at times.

Ok today i fitted my powertrix tension rods and all was jolly.... the last of my suspenison mods are done, so it was time to take the zed to nexus for my rebuild woohooo. I arrive there just outside and say high to scott, "HI" I atempt to park the car and throw it in reverse but :eek: NOPE :headvswal doesnt wanna go in reverse now:( bugger.. scott says he will have a look at the box when its out, but we both know its buggered. So now im on the look out for a used manual box. I was a bit shocked and confused as ive not had any probs with reverse before and this was a first. all other gears are fine..... I have just finished fitting a new cam belt/water pump etc and when I started it up it sounds as though it is misfiring. When I checked the exhausts there was more pressure from the drivers side exhaust that the passanger side. No smoke or anything. I am going to put some new spark plugs on it to see if that is the problem but has anyone else got any ideas why it might be running rough. It was running fine before I did the cam belt.

Finally got the alarm sorted, new fuses etc. just put the battery back on after nearly 8 month an started first time:eek: all cylinders working at first then when warm up a bit went back to 5:rant:. so have come to the conclusion that the wiring on 5 cylinder (driverside rear) expands when getting warm causing no spark. all ready fitted new spark plugs, coilpack,coilpack connecter,series 2 ptu. ran it for a few minutes before the cylinder dropped off an there was a bit off smoke coming up from the passenger side down around turbo area am assuming this is because zed has been stood for so long:confused: all help greatly appreciated trying to get it bac…

help!! after hving my car get a little warm last week then when i stopped it made a kinda hissing noise followed by a woosh! (honestly, no hollyhocks tho) opened the bonnet and had a load of steam (smelt of coolant) come up from by the brake master cylinder, autobox dipstick area. I thought that the heater matrix hoses had failed so removed them, inspected them (they seemed intact but one had a large bulge at the end and the other was split on the end behind the jubi clip) and ordered some new ones from Mike. As you all know my car got keyed a few weeks back, im not sure if it will be easier to supply the paint myself or get the garage to use the paint they got. Am I right in thinking the stock plug for the antenna lead is a 2 pronged affair? Is there some kind of adaptor you can get for it to fit aftermarket headunits? My old headunit didn't have one and I found that someone hadn't plugged it in and had simply ran an earth from it to the body of the car. Cheers Si

Thinkin about fitting a set of coilovers myself this weekend, can anyone ive me any advice, they are k-sport ones. the springs already seem to be fitted in the shock, is it just a case of whipping the old ones off, and put the new ones on? or is there more to it than that? it looks a fairly simple job, can anyone tell me of any hidden obstacles i might face. any advice apreciated. cheers si

Thought i'd share with you my recent experience. When I got my Zed about 4 1/2 years ago it had a really nice (well i liked them) set of 3 piece 17" alloys in black with polished rims. Only problem was front nearside was buckled from a kerbing. After a few weeks the tyre started losing air and on inspection found that the inner rim was cracked. I quickly replaced wheels with a set of Fox Evo's and stored the old ones. Last November saw an advert for a wheel repair place in Scotland that could repair even severely damaged rims. Hi all. I am loosing cooling fluid again. This has only started to happen since I had the exhaust repaired for the MOT. I am not sure if that would make the car run hotter but it has also stopped the white smoke problem I was having. I had the matrix done 6 months or so ago and have had the plenum bypassed. I know for a fact that there is a hole in the overflow tank but have been told that it isn't really used. Is it likely to be the overflow tank or the radiator cap. I will go and get a cap tomorrow hopefully but am I likely to be waisting my time without fixing the holes in the overflow tank. Darrell
