ffs it seems to be taking forever to run my engine in - although its been off the road for long spells over the last few months. that strange AIV gurgle sound coming from below the engine seems to have gone and the running temp has dropped by a few degrees so it sounds like it could have been an airlock like some of you suggested in my thread. she's now running 184-200 deg f (84-93 deg c). apart from the fooked rear wheel bearings that are going to fail me my MOT if i dont get them sorted, i need to get my suspected manifold boost leak sorted. give it another 2 months or so then it's 17psi time :duffer::dance::hurl::nana2:

I would be very very grateful if someone could help me with the following: I am considering buying a car and was told it was once a 300zx members. It is a UK twin turbo in blue, auto (1994), registration : L26 VOY Its a nice car, however when i took it for a drive i was quite disappointed, it didnt feel as fast as i think it should be. A friend of mine had a non-turbo ZX auto, this car i went to see was probably only a little faster than my mates or even about the same, or so it seemed (but it was a couple of years ago that my mate had his car, so not sure if my memory is serving me correctly). The car is low mileage (70,000 genuine), in good condition, no …

Peeps, Ive come across a little problem. With the combination of being poorly fitted, someone nudging the spoiler in a carpark and lots of speed bumps, my high level bomex spoiler has managed to work itself loose. To be honest im pretty appauled to the standard it has been fitted, with a combination of self tapping screws and double sided tape, see below. It has always been 'loose' since buying the car and has always wobbled a little bit. My question is to those who have high level spoilers, HOW have they been fitted? Has your been subjected to the same treatment as mine and been attached with a combination of screws and tape, or has it bee…

Sold my Zed, will probably get another or maybe a skyline in a year or so (after college and other projects have finished) but am left with a boost leak tester-not the home-made pop bottle thingy but the circular aluminium plug with the tyre valve in the centre that fits into the induction intake. ...Now... what I was thinking, rather than sell it, I thought it would be good to sorta donate it to the club/forum members as way as a thankyou for all the help I recieved when things didnt go right with the car. I propose that a mod take possesion of the tester and put a 'sticky' in the help/advice forum-*boost leaker tester for loan to members* that sorta thing.LoanEE to pa…

Hello, i have a some rust which is on the top of the windscreen, under the rubber seal. Its now pushing the rubber away a bit, and is probably about 3cm along though only about 2mm(visable) into the metal on top. It needs work. I'm assuming that to get this bit chopped and cut out the windscreen has to come out? Does anyone have any recommendations for somewhere to do this around Cambridge area? Any ideas what kinda costs I'm looking at? Many thanks.

There is a black electrical connector block to the right of the TPS. Does anyone know what this is for and what is operates? I ask, as my idle is a bit dodgy (intermittent) at the mo, but when I push the two plugs together (as there is a bit of play and it doesnt clip properly with age) the revs settle to how they should be?

Just got back from taking the z to the bodyshop and I aint happy. They wont replace the wing, they wanna knock it out and cover it over with something similar to filler (ment to be twice as strong as filler) This is not what I want, the car has gone this long without some muppet bodging it (thats my job:nelson:) Where do I stand in relation to insurance money, can I just ask for the money and do the work properly myself?

  17. Hi all, I'm having a weird problem where my zed's level 1 shock alarm keeps going off for no apparent reason. The alarm doesn't actually sound fully, it's just a quick 'beep beep beep' warning alarm for if someone knocks your car. At first I thought that someone was messing about near my car (many instances of me jumping out of the chair and running to the window!) then thought it might be a cat or something, but there never anything about (and no, it's not just the wind!) Anyone got any ideas? It's bloody irritating when it happens just as I'm going to sleep at night...

  18. Its a weird feeling when reversing and its like it changes into a lower range of reverse ?? wtf ?? I havent driven the car at all in the last 4months (due to panelshop) and not a great deal in the last 12months. And the p/shop also pointed it out, i had noticed it before then as well, when i would reverse down my driveway  [/img] Is this a common occurance with the auto Z's ?? :o

My son bought a Lexus last month. The radiator went pop yesterday and it got very hot. It don't look like the head gasket has gone but its running rough as fook. I am going to renew the sparkers but does anyone know if the coil packs could be damaged from over heating? The funny thing is that the TRC (traction control) light has come on along with the engine management light??? I have had the rad off and it is proper shagged. I know it ain't a Z but its jap so somewhere along the line there must be similarities? Thanks vini:cool:

hi all firstly let me say what a good site! ok now to business! yes i am seriously thinking of getting one of these supercars as i will be doing little milage soon. for you a few queries. 1 i am losing my company car so have no bonus and am 43 so what is a guess on the dreaded insurance. i have no convictions... 2 i am a competent amateur mechanic with a garage full of idle tools and in 25 years have split and rebuilt more bikes and cars than soft-mick. however the under hood situation looks daunting to say the least. are they reasonably reliable even though they look complicated? 3 the 300zx does not seem to rust or am i being wishful in my think…

After having a full stainless exhaust fitted, down pipes and cat back, its still too boomy at about 2k revs. Sounds great when floored and nice gurgle when coasting, but for normal driving ie: 35-40mph too boomy in the cabin. What have you done to combat this problem? Do you just put up with it? Or have you just got cat back only. I feel the cats helped quieten the engine and dont really feel much difference since decatting, performance wise, Any suggestions ( sensible ones) Cheers Graham
