Im Partway through rebuilding a set of Standard calipers for my car. Just making sure there isnt anything ive missed or should do, so far ive popped the pistons out, cleaned everything up and im about to replace all the seals (using a kit). Should i pre-oil the seals or anything fancy like that, or put it all together dry and let the caliper fill up with oil when i fit them to the car and change the fluid? Never done any before so just looking for some handy hints if anyone has any experience. Thanks

What's the best stuff to use on exhaust joints? Got one of those japspeed ones with metal gaskets. I was thinking maybe using 1600 degree high temp RTV? Good or bad idea?

  10. ....your Profec B Spec II On idle I get about -80 to -85 and when driving, decellerating in gear with no throttle I get -99. I presume that is in PSI as I have set the Profec to PSI, does this sound about right ? CheerZ Paul

  11. Next on my list after my engine will be a set of bigger disks but i dont think they will fit under my wheels as there is already a big spacer on the front and the calipers just skim the inside of the wheel spokes. was wondering if there is anyone on here with the same design wheels who have bigger brakes or if there is anyway to calculate them fitting? is it just a matter of trial and error? Thanks in advance.

can anyone explain this one to me? first thing in the morning when its quite cold, the Z will run at temperatures between 190 and 200 degrees F (87-93 C) after she's warmed up on the way to work. when its the evening, and recently its been quite warm and pleasant, the Z will run between 180 and 190 degrees F on the way home (82-87 C) ...being read from an aftermarket water gauge. is there anything weird going on here or not?

Started to removal or attemp to remove the heads on my N/A and got stuck removing the intake manifold. I have removed the bolts ect but when trying to remove the part of the manifold closest to the rear of the engine wont budge. There are two pipes that are moving when trying to remove the intake, I expect these are connected to the intake manifold and that its these that are stopping it from coming away. If this is right how can you remove these pipes, and any other help on the removal of the manifold will be very much appreciated.

Hi all, I have 18" alloys on my zx with 245 40 18" tyres and after getting a slow puncture on front nearside tyre I found a large rip on inside of that tyre. It must have touched some part of the suspension and I would like to know is 245 wide tyres to wide and would 225 be better for front tyres.

THIS IS NOT A FOR SALE THREAD YET What a dilemma!! In the last 24hrs, I have been offered a 'buy back' into a small business I was part owner of (70's-90's Classic Porsche Spares). I sold my share last year when turnover started falling suddenly.. Business is back on the up  BUT.. it will mean having to release the money sat in my zed  It's a good opportunitiy, and something I enjoyed doing.. Driving all over the country buying up all the old unwanted/unloved/broken down Porsches, and taking them apart :D Next dilemma is, if I do sell my zed, do I sell it 'as is', almost as I bought it back off spongey last year http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/sho…

...I know this has been covered, but I'm trying to work out which bungs I need to remove in order to run a powercable up to the battery. Now, take off the lower part of the arch liner and there's a grey bung at the bottom. I popped this off and sure enough, it does go someway into the bulkhead...but to where? I took up the carpet and took off the ECU kick plate, shone a torch through from the outside to see if I could see where it went....darkeness. Am I going in through the right place? Or is there another bung elsewhere? Cheers

Hi This started happening today. When cruising and have my foot on the accelerator lightly the car judders like it’s struggling. Only seems to happen at 2-3 k rpm. When using the accelerator aggressively or keeping power on it’s fine and boosts normally. Also if I take my foot completely off the accelerator its fine. It just seems to be when having it lightly pressed to keep speed constant and at about 2-3 k rpm. What could it be? Car is not misfiring under normal tick over etc and no fault codes. Cheers Paul

Has anyone got pics of the wiring or anything that i could go by???? There is an issue maybe with the alarm immobiliser might just take it out and try again.. another question should the fuel pump always come on and stay on everytime you start the car?????

  25. Is it possible to start the engine without the underdrive pulley or any of the belts in place ?. The cambelt is obviously in place but with no underdrive pulley to power the PAS, water pump fan and AC, Can you start the engine briefly without any problems even if you don't connect the pulley itself let alone the belts ?
