I was getting a high idle of 1500rpm here and there when the car was warm. I cleaned out the idle control valve with some carb cleaner and the idle had stopped going high but the car did stall a couple of times. Now the car has gone back to idleing high again  I think the base idle is fine, when it's not high it sits at 750 rpm. Should i take the valve off and give it a really good clean? Would cleaning the intake / butterfly's help ??

My car is going in for a full respray, but the garage has suggested all new exterior trim. Does anyone know where I can get it? what the full list is? and how much it is likely to add to the total cost of the respray? eg: scuttle panel = £x.xx trim above doors = £x.xx trim below doors = £x.xx trim at the edges of the windscreen = £x.xx has anyone actually replaced it all?

I'm about to send off an intake plenum to Z1 as a swap for a chrome one. Just wondering how whats involved in changing it? What gaskets are required? Is it just a case of disconnecting all the pipes, unbolting the coilpack brackets, unbolting the bolts that hold the plenum on and removing it?

Hello all, Just recently I have noticed that my Z has got an oil leak, when I leave in the morning for work there is a small patch of oil about centre of engine. I had a look underneath the car and found that the sump has oil on it from about half way back and thus the clutch housing and g/box and d/shaft have oil down them. It appears that may be coming from up the side of the sump and running down it and therefor causing oil on everything over it. Could the sump seal be gone?? Any ideas would be most appreciated Cheers ZX_Steve PS will get piccies up as soon as I have got camera attached.

Having had problems with the zed blowing PTUs I've come to the conclusion that a bodged wiring loom is at fault (taped wires everywhere) and I inteded to bypass the loom between the PTU output connector and the coilpacks to avoid the 4 volt backfeed I've been getting blowing my latest PTU. After studying the wiring diagram I saw that the PTU output connector wires, according to the diagram, go straight to the coilpacks but I have found this not to be the case on my car. The output connector wires infact go back into the ECU. Does anyone on here know why they go back to the ECU? What happens to the PTU output signal inside the ECU? I've realised that it could mean that not…

At which temperature does an oil flow better? There is no temperature where oil suddenly starts to flow better. A 10W/40 for example will flow between -25C and 100C or more, but there is some difference in the rate of flow! (True viscosity at -25C is about 7000 Centistoke(cSt) units, dropping to 14 at 100C. ‘Viscosity’ is really just another name for ‘rate of flow’.) The correct question is at what (sump) temperature is an oil at a viscosity that suits a modern high-RPM engine? Present day designs are happy on an oil viscosity of 10 to 15 cSt. (But many are OK on less than 10.) 30cSt is too high at high RPM. It can lead to foaming, air entrainment and cavit…
