I should be going as i've finally got me car sorted, just waiting for the insurance cover note so I can put some rent in the window next week, who will be camping there? I gotta find a tent! Also just got made redundant and given garden leave for 7 weeks from next friday, so I'm up for getting pissed on sunday too lol!!

Hi all, A while ago you might remember this; Well, now it looks like this, I've done most of the work I wanted there are still a few things to do but it's a cast improvement; And the interior is sorted now, I thought it looked good when I retrimmed all the leather, but now I think its look0ing much better, makes the before picture look a bit skank, what do you all think? Your thoughts? Bit of a DIY job, I made the BOSS, made the handbrake and gearchange, made all the silver changes etc, but its getting there now I think, just gotta finish the gear stick and a couple of other things. p.s I've already hooked up a new cradle for the cruise control switches that will sit nicely on top of the right black spoke of the wheel :D

Right, not of the Bruce Lee Kind but of the steering wheel kind. Recently ordered a new steering wheel, ere it is; Anyways, not to everyones taste I am sure, but, I have re-done the dial surrounds all chrome effect, and the driver console etc, centre console, right down to the near the arm rest. Also done the door inserts etc. The one i ordered is with the silver but where the blue is it is black leather. Anyway's now on to the question :p I ordered a Boss, now the chap I spoke to having only a few braincells advised me after I had stressed about five times, that the Boss he was sending me was for Z32, I told him about the Hicas etc many times he assured me it was fine. Although the price was suspect from the start 35.00 for a Hicas boss? I didnt think so anyway gave him benefit of the doubt. Turned up today and guess what NOT a hicas boss. Anyways I will be contacting them over the next week to call them a twat and send this one back, however, I need to get a BOSS that will accept hicas, I think they are about 80.00 but dont know where from. I really need a BOSS that has no mounting holes drilled already, so that I can tap my own to the pattern of the wheel. Any ideas? Also, might sound odd but has anyone ever used the standard one? I am sure the wheel / boss could be modded to fit a new wheel, even if its part of the old wheel I dont mind cutting it out. Thoughts? Cheers Steve

p.s if any one wants to ave a go at photoshopping one on be my guest hehe, I liked the veilside style wings, almost like an RX7 style one but dont know if it would go ok, the other options is a high wing which I think would look kak, or the poopra style ones which im not into. Your thoughts peeps? Im bored?

dunno mate, my bet would be to turn off system restore for a start incase its backed it up, then boot in safe mode and delete all temp internet files, or put an old windows boot disk in (floppy) if it wont let you delete it in windows, goto the temp internet folder in windows in DOS and then use erase comand on the infected file, or empty the folder completly. Reboot run AVG then put restore back on if its worked. Steve

i got 245x40 18 on the front i wouldnt recomend any bigger on an 18 than that that just rubbs the plastic trim, on the back i guess 275 as i have 265 and that is flush with the arch.

if your planning on changing fluids I would bleed the old stuff out completly, so in my case I just opened up the front valve and bled it all out, then the rear just to make sure none left in. Then close all valves, fill the resevoir up, then bleed one at a time, ensuring the res is always topped up as you sdont want to be dragging air through. Best to get a mate to pump the pedal while you open the valve check the fluid for bubbles etc and close it off. I wouldnt recomend mixing brake fluids, I heard if you use diff ones and if the old stuff has started braking down, it will have an adverse effect on the new stuff. Cheers Steve

yeh, just a bit or rubber on the end of the pipe suposedly stops air getting back in although I kept the pedal pressed when we were shutting the valve off to keep the pressure up to be doubly sure ;)

I used 4 because it's what's in the cars manual, although the higher the better. Bleed it anyway, its not a big job if theres two of you, and its better to be safe than sorry. When I got my car I was never impressed by the brakes, they were always a bit soft and spongy. Turns out I bled them all and the ABS unit and they are better than they have ever been. I guess whatever joe serviced the car before probably just did the callipers and not the abs unit. Cause the first time I changed to Brembos I didnt even know myself I had to do the ABS unit. Bleed the front callipers, then the rear callipers, then the ABS unit in the boot. Not sure where the nipples are on standard Z callipers as I have brembos on mine at the front, but they have a valve on the outside and inside of each calliper to do, I dont know if stock Z ones are similar. But the backs are easy enough, one nipple on each at the top of the calliper on the back. The ABS unit sits in the boot, looking into the car on your right there is a step, thats made of plastic that goes up to the higher bit near the speakers etc, undo 2 screws at the bottom of this (under the carpet) then pull it off (ooo err!), then the foam stuff underneath (should have a flap cut out) and then bleed the two points on that. Job done. I recently reconned the MS and so bled all the old fluid out and completly re-did the system, so I bled it twice round to be sure, but I doubt you will need that. Steve

I dont think it is standard stuff? all the rear quater windows and rear screen are clear that I have seen, the only tinted bit as standard are the black inserts in the door pillars that show as black on the glass.

hairdryer on it to warm up the glue then it should peel off, then use a bit of solvent on the glass to get rid of the gluey stuf or any tacky marks left.

Hi all, I want two new / recon turbos, Not fussed if hybrid / uprated although would prefer. Im down south, anyone know of a good place to get tubbies from at a good price for both above, and a place who would fit? I would have said MAS, a few months back my friends Z was spluttering and going lie an utter trolly, wouldnt go above 2500rpm either, we took the whole unit off of mine (from the elbow joins etc so the whole air filter etc came off) and just switched over to check, worked fine when we switched, so he picked up a second hand one for a bout 60.00 new tho they are about 300.00! You saying that it goes up to 4k tho and seems rougher when warm doesnt sound like this is your prob. Sound more like an poor ignition / over fueling problem to me, is there loads of unburnt petrol comming out? does it smell? ME

Hi guys, Not really into rear spoilers that much, i took my normal one of and flushed the tailgate, also put a skin on, it looked 10x better and thats how it has stayed for a long time. But now im getting bored and its time to move on lol, so i'm looking for a pentroof style one. All the spoilers on the Z specialists sites I have seen look pants, so anyone know of one that looks good on a Z, (please dont say supra style!!!) I just took the lights off the car, took them apart and primed/sprayed the inserts up with plasticote primer and chrome spray. Not as good as the propper thing but, IMHO it looks good, and only cost me a tenner. I tried that silver film you can buy first, but that just bubbles up in the heat so dont use that. Speaking of which what is the right level? everytime I service mine with oil filter change I do 4ltrs, but I heard it's only supposed to be 3.5lts recently? Another thing actually, (not that I am hijacking the thread its all on the same subject) every turbo specialist I spoke to recomends to use semi synthetic in our cars as the engine wasnt meant to run on fully, and fully can just cause problems, any one else heard of this one? Anyways, I drop the oil every 6mnths, and this time I used 10w40 semi, last time i used 10w40 magnatec. me

Hi mate, I was looking at trying to retrim the centre pads of me seats, but I dont know if I can get them out as one part or if the lot has to come off? Someone said youd recently re-trimmed yours, and its a fookin good job mate I just saw it so nice one :D Thought Id post it here asking as I have searched TT net and here and cant find any FAQ on how to ake the seat covers or any of it apart, so if you have got some good advice mate, y not FAQ it? I am sure there are loads of Z owners that want to have a go but dont want to wreck them pulling them apart. Cheers Steve
