Three new motering laws
I'm on the road for about 10 hoyrs aday, 6 days a week at the moment and I would say a good 40% are using their phones. I saw one lady going round a roundabout phone in one hand, e-cig in the other! How people can even think its a good idea I don't know...

Three new motering laws
The smoking one makes me laugh: "Cars with open sunroofs will still leave drivers liable to fines if there are under-18s aboard, however a 17-year old travelling alone in a private vehicle will not be fined." Surely said 17 year old should still be fined for smoking while underage and fined for illegally buying tobacco products?! I see so many people texting and facebooking on their phones, i think the police should concentrate on that before arresting people for smoking...

Building Cars Live
I watched the first episode last night. It was good, but I dont know why they did it live? A 3 part documentary would have been just as good. ill watch the 2nd episode tonight, but I thought that james spent most of the time screwing up/slowing down the work on the line and Kate humble is annoying and knows/care not even the slightest about cars...

Ebay Seller with scooby doo knowledge
Anyone that needs to write their description in capital letters and feels the need to use the word "Wow" should be shot. I also suspect "ALL OUR CARS ARE HAND PICKED BY THE DIRECTOR OF THE COMPANY!" is only because the guy posting the ad, is the director of the company!

My names Tom and I have an addiction...
So today a friend and I had a good play with the new red nissan. We have found a few problems and I need some advice. 1) It has white smoke at idle. Once its gets any type of revs (1000+) seems to be less smoke. 2) Idle seems rough, It feels like a big american V8 and moves the car around. 3) It seems to idle on 4 or 5 or 6 cylinders and seems to constantly switch between 4 or 5 or 6. However seems to run smoothly on 6 once under power. 4) Its got a stuck near side front caliper that got very hot! 5) Rust. Alot of rust. Driver side sill front to back gone. drivers side wheel arch gone. Passenger side sill going, both foot wells gone. Rear bumper supports gone. 6) The offside front indicator doesnt work, We changed the bulbs over and its not a broken bulb. 7) Rusty suspension. 8) Drivers side window switch doesnt work 9) passenger side front seat doesnt tilt forward/backwards. 10) Clutch is very heavy 11) brakes dont work. 12) Rear bumper not really attached 13) The upper radiator pipe is half snapped. The short pipe that attaches to that is barely being held on, but not leaking yet! 14) The last time it was taxed and on the road was June 2007 So the good points: 1) The interior is lovely 2) 80K mileage that is genuine 3) New Stainless exhaust that looks like it was more than the cars worth! 4) Paint is red and hasnt faded 5) Personal number plate 6) Doesnt leak 7) No cracked rear lights 8) Someone has installed dump valves and they do sound kinda funky. I may get bored of them later though. we will see! 9) seems to be the top of the range model and has heated leather seats and front light washers 10) targa roof blinds and targa bags, tool kit etc all there in great condition So this will slowly be fixed and hopefully on the road. The plan is to get it going for the monte carlo trip. Ill drive the red one and my wife will take the black one! Im putting it in for an MOT this week just for fun too! wish me luck!

Hello from Portsmouth
I used to have a GT4, it was great fun, but nothing compared to a ZX. I used a NA as my daily drive and have just bought a TT to do up and then have as a weekend car. As a daily car, its great fun and driving to and from work is no longer a chore. Mine drinks quite a bit of petrol, but I only do 12 miles per day. Looking after the cars is critical. You cant treat it like a Corsa and buy the cheapest serivce parts. Its worth spending the extra money (even the ultra special £1.34/litre go juice...) on parts. I keep both of mine in a garage to minimise contact with the wet and regular check for any issues. Treat a ZX like your grandmother, care for it, look after it and expect the unexpected...

Here are a few more pictures for you. As you can see, there is a bit of rust to sort out and then get sprayed, but it looks like a good clean car... Inside its in good condition and the outside except for the rust seems straight and very red still! The only issue is that my neighbours rang my landlord and complained that I had two cars in the garage and was doing car maintenance down there (apparently we are not allow to fix cars in the garage?!) so Ive had to park my black one on the road outside as this one isnt taxed and MOT'ed. oh and for you keen eyed out there, yes the tax disc in the window does say 10/07...

My names Tom and I have an addiction...
I'll be keeping the spoiler as its the same as the one on my black one. The wheels will be going and some OEMs going on. No body kits will be added so don't worry! It will be a long term project as I've just used 4months savings to buy it and get it home, but ill start saving to get it all welded and fixed. The brakes hardly work but I'm hoping thats where its been sitting. I'm hoping to get it ready for the Monte Carlo rally next summer. Fingers crossed!

My names Tom and I have an addiction...
My names Tom and I have an addiction... Ive bought another one... god help me, my black one isnt even finished yet! My "new" one is a red UK Twin Turbo model. Its been well looked after until the guy I just bought it off had it. It done 80K and the cosmetically its very good, mechanically (apart from brakes from where its been sitting) its good. Structurally is a bit of another story... It does have rust, part for the passenger sill is rusty, most of the drivers sill is rusty and the offside rear arch has a hole big enough for my fist... in fact it might have been my fist that made it! A friend and I went up to Yorkshire to collect it yesterday and boy was it a trip and a half. Choice took ages to get the van ready, got stuck on the M25 because two lorries decided that crashing into each other and dropping fuel over the motorway was exactly what was needed and then having to deal with rush hour traffic through Bradford and keighley. On the way back one of the straps holding the car to the beavertail decided to snap, so after taking the strap off on the hard shoulder and driving slowly to the services, we re-attached the strap to find the nearside outer rear wheel was completely flat! After spending 30 mins trying to get some air into it we were back on the road. Arrived home at 12:30am (5 hours after we expected to be home), woke everyone up offloading and parking the car in my car park and now im back up to to go drive some buses all day! Ill add some more pictures later, but here are a couple to wet your appetites...

A new retro treat for my 300
I use the JVC KD-R331. I like it because its got an AUX at the back of the unit and one on the front. The back one is designed to take a bluetooth dongle for connecting phones to make calls and play music, but I run a normal 3.5mm cable from the back, up the inside of the dash and out of the front windscreen vents to my phone in its windscreen mount. The stereo then plays whatever sound my phone is making (music, satnav, calls, even Cortana reading out messages to me!) This way there are no cables running around the cock pit especially as I have run the USB charging cable for my phone up the same route from the cigarette lighter socket. I have run a 5M USB around the dash, up the door pillar and across the roof to charge my dash cam, but at the moment the dual USB im using cant charge both at the same time, but im going to have to hard wire the dash cam into the ignition.

do you need a trailer licence to use a car trailer ?
Whats crazy is I drive 45' buses all day long, fully loaded they can weigh up to over 20 tonnes, but I cant tow over 3.5 tonnes! (I should also point out that the law says the trailer cant be more than 750kg) Its a pain in the arse, hiring a beavertail helps, but even then a 2 ton beavertail only leave room for a 1.5 ton car, so if you are wanting to stick a merc or bmw on the back, odds are you will be over the maximum 3.5 tons. A lot of people dont realise this and the majority of people you see driving down the road in their huge range rover pulling a twin axel caravan are over their license limits. The police (more specifically VOSA/DVSA) are very strict on it because you are driving without the correct license, you wouldnt jump in a HGV on a car license and go for a drive, so why would tow over your allowed weight? If you have to bring a car home that you have just bought, its safer for your license to drive it home with no MOT or TAX than it is to tow it (if it would be over the 3.5 tons), its a crazy world...
