new new surveillance laws, good or bad ?
It is too far, They dont need to store a whole years worth of stuff (although mine consists of only 300zx.co.uk, and google searches for "my 300zx is broken"!), surely the money needed to store all that data could be better spent on the NHS or the police or poor people or education or anything else this cirrent government has destroyed/about to destroy...

Compression help
throttles were wide open, balance bar was off, engine was warm. i followed the walkthrough on here. only thing i didnt do was wet the cylinders with oil, but i read that was something to try after...

Compression help
cool thanks jeff. It does smoke when at idle, but not when under power. Im not driving it at the moment though for obvious reasons! Its not using oil, however we think it might be using water. After warming it up for the compression test it took another 1/5 litre of water in the rad, but its not dripping on to the floor at all. Is that a head gasket on the way out?

Compression help
Yes I am. I'm going to borrow a better one from a mechanic and do it all again. Hopefully its my gauge being annoying and cheap

Compression help
So yesterday I did a compression test. I found a guide on here and followed it to the letter and this is what I got: Cylinder 1 = 70 (drivers side front) Cylinder 2 = 65 (drivers side middle) Cylinder 3 = 50 (drivers side back - closest to cabin) Cylinder 4 = 10 (pass side front) Cylinder 5 = 25 (pass side middle) Cylinder 6 = 0 (pass side back) We were confused about this because a TT should be 171PSI with a tolerence of 10% (14-ish psi), so we checked my Black NA: Cylinder 1 = 100 (drivers side front) Cylinder 2 = 100 (drivers side middle) Cylinder 3 = 99 (drivers side back - closest to cabin) Cylinder 4 = 100 (pass side front) Cylinder 5 = 100 (pass side middle) Cylinder 6 = 100 (pass side back) Thats still not right and we know that my Black NA is in pretty much perfect order mechanically, so we tested my wifes Celica ST202: Cylinder 1 = 105 (drivers side left) Cylinder 2 = 100 (drivers side middle) Cylinder 3 = 98 (pass side middle) Cylinder 4 = 100 (pass side right) That isnt right either. We then worked on the assumption that my gauge is 80PSI off being accurate, the Celica and black car would be correct and the red one would be at: 150, 145, 130, 90, 105 and 80. Now its obvious that the red one has a problem of some kind, but is it really possible for a new gauge to be 80psi wrong?!

IT Question E-mails
Do you know what the error code is? Because temporary errors (which start with a 4.x.x) are known as soft-bounce errors, and permanent delivery errors (which start with 5.x.x) and are known as hard-bounce errors. Temporary errors will usually be re-delivered, while permanent errors will be returned or bounced. From there you might be able to guess if its the receivers blocking the emails or they are fake? One other thing I know is spammers use non-delivery reports as a way of hiding their real email address. Have you checked all your settings? Some where in outlook there is a test connection setting, that might be able to shed more light on the issue?

Three new motering laws
The highway code states that it is illegal to drive on the pavement. full stop. However its not yet illegal to park on the pavement. some cities/towns/councils will put up sign in certain areas to ban it and london has a law. However if its illegal to drive on the pavement, then to park on the pavement, you must have driven on it at some point!

Car Bucket List
Mine: I've loved them since I had a go in my 1st gf fathers car. Im saving up for a replica kitcar... Ive always Loved lambos, I had a post of a Countach and Diablo on my wall when I was a kid. Last christmas my wife got me a thrash around Brands hatch in a Gallardo, but if I was to own one it would be this beautiful box of madness. I watched an early Clarkson dvd (video back then) with this in it and when he said it looked like Katie Hill (from Blue Peter) I was sold, always had a crush on her... i see one and I drool, the lines of the car, the 80's square-ness and the noise....shame about the price really... My stepmother had one of these in the early 80's, shes from Seattle (I do forgive her for being American ) However I have never forgiven her for writing it off by crashing at a turnpike sliproad, she was trying to light her joint... Lastly the cheapest, one I will get to own realistically. It has to be in red and must be manual turbo...

Three new motering laws
I'm on the road for about 10 hoyrs aday, 6 days a week at the moment and I would say a good 40% are using their phones. I saw one lady going round a roundabout phone in one hand, e-cig in the other! How people can even think its a good idea I don't know...

Three new motering laws
The smoking one makes me laugh: "Cars with open sunroofs will still leave drivers liable to fines if there are under-18s aboard, however a 17-year old travelling alone in a private vehicle will not be fined." Surely said 17 year old should still be fined for smoking while underage and fined for illegally buying tobacco products?! I see so many people texting and facebooking on their phones, i think the police should concentrate on that before arresting people for smoking...

Building Cars Live
I watched the first episode last night. It was good, but I dont know why they did it live? A 3 part documentary would have been just as good. ill watch the 2nd episode tonight, but I thought that james spent most of the time screwing up/slowing down the work on the line and Kate humble is annoying and knows/care not even the slightest about cars...

Ebay Seller with scooby doo knowledge
Anyone that needs to write their description in capital letters and feels the need to use the word "Wow" should be shot. I also suspect "ALL OUR CARS ARE HAND PICKED BY THE DIRECTOR OF THE COMPANY!" is only because the guy posting the ad, is the director of the company!

My names Tom and I have an addiction...
So today a friend and I had a good play with the new red nissan. We have found a few problems and I need some advice. 1) It has white smoke at idle. Once its gets any type of revs (1000+) seems to be less smoke. 2) Idle seems rough, It feels like a big american V8 and moves the car around. 3) It seems to idle on 4 or 5 or 6 cylinders and seems to constantly switch between 4 or 5 or 6. However seems to run smoothly on 6 once under power. 4) Its got a stuck near side front caliper that got very hot! 5) Rust. Alot of rust. Driver side sill front to back gone. drivers side wheel arch gone. Passenger side sill going, both foot wells gone. Rear bumper supports gone. 6) The offside front indicator doesnt work, We changed the bulbs over and its not a broken bulb. 7) Rusty suspension. 8) Drivers side window switch doesnt work 9) passenger side front seat doesnt tilt forward/backwards. 10) Clutch is very heavy 11) brakes dont work. 12) Rear bumper not really attached 13) The upper radiator pipe is half snapped. The short pipe that attaches to that is barely being held on, but not leaking yet! 14) The last time it was taxed and on the road was June 2007 So the good points: 1) The interior is lovely 2) 80K mileage that is genuine 3) New Stainless exhaust that looks like it was more than the cars worth! 4) Paint is red and hasnt faded 5) Personal number plate 6) Doesnt leak 7) No cracked rear lights 8) Someone has installed dump valves and they do sound kinda funky. I may get bored of them later though. we will see! 9) seems to be the top of the range model and has heated leather seats and front light washers 10) targa roof blinds and targa bags, tool kit etc all there in great condition So this will slowly be fixed and hopefully on the road. The plan is to get it going for the monte carlo trip. Ill drive the red one and my wife will take the black one! Im putting it in for an MOT this week just for fun too! wish me luck!

Hello from Portsmouth
I used to have a GT4, it was great fun, but nothing compared to a ZX. I used a NA as my daily drive and have just bought a TT to do up and then have as a weekend car. As a daily car, its great fun and driving to and from work is no longer a chore. Mine drinks quite a bit of petrol, but I only do 12 miles per day. Looking after the cars is critical. You cant treat it like a Corsa and buy the cheapest serivce parts. Its worth spending the extra money (even the ultra special £1.34/litre go juice...) on parts. I keep both of mine in a garage to minimise contact with the wet and regular check for any issues. Treat a ZX like your grandmother, care for it, look after it and expect the unexpected...
