New Zed
The wheels and the front spoiler are going but not yet as funds are limited! I changed the fuse, lights worked normally until I drove away and it blow the fuse again. I'm guessing some kinda of short somewhere?

New Zed
So after the disappointment of failing to fix my first red zed, I came across one on ebay a while back. After a bit of haggling, I was the proud owner of a rusty, smoking red zed! First thing was get it welded, My welding friend is a wiz, so he spend 3 weeks welding it up, making sure it was perfect. He has worked on these cars before, so knew exactly what to cut out and repair, he then waxed it, oiled it, protected it, etc. As long as I am careful, it should be good for many years he said! Next bit was getting it to quit smoking, as a smoker myself this is not easy! After buying several 50g bags during a Spanish holiday, I set to work. The block was fine, the heads were fine, but the turbos were trashed. Bent and missing blades, oil running everywhere. Two re-furbed turbos later and the car had virgin lungs, something I haven't had in years. There is still a list to go: front passenger seatbelt doesn't like to retract, front bumper needs changing, wheels need changing, headlights stuck on full beam, passenger door isn't hung right (it clips the body when shutting), driver door lock just spins and spins, central locking doesn't work, but alarm and immobiliser work when ever it feels like it! But it has an MOT and I can drive it to work with a big grin! As you can see I have a long list of things to plug away at and keep me out of trouble for the winter! Enough writing now, I can hear you all screaming "where are the pictures, damn you!" so without further ado... and finally I have my two car garage!

Over fueling , bogging down under load
Before I fixed it, one of my coil pack pig tails was loose as hte clip was broken, over 6000rpm the engine used to shake the plug off and it would be a V5 and run really badly. I used to have to get out, lift the bonnet and push the plug in. I didnt go over 6000rpm very often, so wasnt too bad, but i did fix it. Might not be your problem, but give all the plugs a wiggy just incase

Lancaster Insurance - A Warning
I was with Lancaster insurance for one year, they sent me the renewal letter, so I rang them up to barter with them a bit and when i told them it was a 300zx, they said sorry we dont cover that car! I said you do as ive just been covered for the passed year! They said they had changed what cars they covered and they wouldnt cover me. she then said "is there anything else I can help you with?" I rang up footman james and havent looked back since. I have a classic 5000 mile policy with drive to work added, its got an agreed valuation and if the car is written off, they give it back to me for free. I can do the occasional track day too, all for £261/year... bargin!

European tour - 7 days and 1950 miles
Excellent trip guys! Reminded me of the trip I did this time last year! We need to plan something similar to this for the big 30 and get lots of people involved. More trips like this need planning anyway! Great pictures and is that a fake horse in the garden of your italian hotel (day 4)?

Any club members been to Japan? Advice needed
I have never been to Japan, my one biggest regret after living in China for 10 years! I have had several friends go travelling there, first thing they said was how expensive it is! I had a train nut friend who went on the bullet train and after he had calmed down and stopped saying likes it "It was awesome" he told me that the tickets were bought in the station on a machine much like our trains, however he did say there was no english on the machine. This was getting on for 8 years ago though. Driving out there is easy, I had a friend whos father was station out there and he had a car. He said driving was a doddle, the only problem was people are not great at driving, they dont really practise on the roads, they learn in a legoland style playground, then pass, then go on the road. He did say roadrage was non-exsistant as its illegal and that GPS doesnt always work in the cities because the buildings are so tall! The expressways are expensive, most people have a card, like an oyster card for cars and some exits only accept those. I wouldnt know how to get one of them or if a hire car needs them? Everyone I know who has gone to Japan has absolutly loved it, but all said the same thing. They cant speak English. Dont assume that because its a tourist place or a hire car shop that they will speak english! Im very jealous, you are basically doing what I want to do! Have a great trip and post lots of pictures please!

Turbos in good condition.
I need to find two turbos to replace mine that are smoking (underage ofcourse, not sure who is supplying them with fags, but nevermind...) Depending on price I wil consider stock or upgraded. The car has stock everything, but has been mapped already. Im also looking for a boost controller and a turbo timer Thanks in advance!

It's all gone terribly wrong in France!!
Mine did a similar thing last year in France at a toll booth. Started making a funny noise as we approached, then cut out as we were slowing down, then lots of steam. Turns out it was a 3 inch pipe at the very back of the engine that has split and dumped coolant everywhere. AA saved us and got the car home 3 weeks later. £80 to fix and check compression, and its been fine since!

Day running lights
Or just fit LED bulbs to the side lights and turn them on? much cheaper and easier, thats what I did
-
Turbo Question(s)
Wow, I thought I was pretty mechanically minded, but I struggled with that! So it would be better if I got some upgraded turbos?
-
Turbo Question(s)
If a twin turbo starts smoking when it gets up to temperature as apposed to smoking straight from starting is that just as bad? Worse or better? I'm assuming they need replacing regardless, I'm also guessing this is an engine out job. So my last question does anyone have stock turbos or upgraded ones sitting around that are good condition that they want to sell? I would want good ones or new as I don't want to pull the engine out more than once. Also while its out, I was planning on cleaning up the engine bay and I've heard there are a few mods that can be done, what are they? I know this is all a bit vague, but trying to work out the best step forward.
