  1. I have a suspicion that, like many things on the MOT test, it will end up coming down to the testers opinion. Such as exhaust loudness, non-dangerous corrosion and certain other vague points. The reason I say this, I spoke to my MOT tester and asked him outright about my HIDs. The ballasts are plain to see in the engine bay, he said to me it would fail, but if i hide the ballasts somewhere, he would never know and the car wouldn't fail. However another MOT tester I used a while ago failed my car on it being too loud, its never failed for that before or since. It really does depend on the tester and much like police officers, if they are having a good day or bad day...
  2. Selling a leather rear bench seat, the seat and the backrest. It came out of my black Nissan years ago with the plan to get it re-done, however I since have betters ones. These are in pretty good nick except a few marks and a large worn patch from the rear shoulder seat belt. Again these will be listed on ebay, however people here get a lower price and first dibs. All money going to "Get Toms red nissan to pristine condition". Its a wonderful cause with hard working volunteer!
  3. I am selling a bonnet from a car I broke and a bonnet that was on a red car I bought last year. The bonnet is a little faded and as its been kicking around the the garage for a while its quite dirty and has a few scratches. Ideal for someones rebuild as it can be resprayed The bootlid is good, no rust, however the previous owner of the car I bought had changed its colour from white to red using a rattle can. Again great for a project thats going to have a respray. Both would be collection only and both are £25 each. both are on ebay, but people here will get priority of course! All funds will be going towards the "Get Toms red Nissan ready for Beaulieu" charity. Its a charity that's lesser know, but hardworking and well worth donating to!
  4. Yes, especially that moment when you see the problem and think "oops i have been driving on that for the past 3 months!"
  5. This. I had to replace both arms a while ago on my black nissan due to this problem. I thought it was brakes for a long time, but the lower arm had fractured around the tension rod mountings and wasnt even connected :whistling:
  6. We always go to the mini meet at the Tescos on the edge of the New Forest and leave Eastbourne about 5am-ish (depending on who gets out of bed on time), so would be around Arundel about 6am-ish.
  7. That sounds good. Nearer the time we can organise a place to meet
  8. Where in East Sussex is he, does anyone know? We are in Eastbourne and should have four cars, he is welcome to join us at the Polegate Roundabout services...

  11. Red Nissan normal insurance with Admiral = £620 Black Nissan classic insurance with Performance direct = £189 All mods declared, both policies fully comp. Admiral allows NCB earning. Classic allows me to drive to work, agreed valuation of £2000 and I get the car given back to me for free if written off.

  14. This may not be of help, but My red car kept blowing a fuse and I would only have full beam, no tail lights and no dipped beam. This went on for weeks, some times it would last a few days, sometimes it would be 20 minutes. I could not for the life of me work out what was doing it. Then one day I was changing some interior trim and found the spade connector that connects to the underside of the cigarette lighter socket was broken and was moving around and would occasionally touch the metal handbrake mounting and boom, fuse blows. I did a couple of tests to prove my theory. I changed the connector for a new one, and its never blown a fuse since. All I can say is use that diagram to check everywhere there could be a fault, It could/should/will be the weirdest thing you can think of and stick at it. It drove me crazy not knowing what was wrong and not knowing if I would make it home in the dark with tail lights! I know nothing about Zeds really, but I would be looking somewhere that has been fiddled with in the past by a previous owner, back of the radio, see if any wires have be cut/soldered/insulated incorrectly. then just work you way back to the fuse box shaking and moving things around until it blows again.

  16. When I bought the car, most of it was filler. I've spent the past three years trying to get rid of it, but as I can't shell out thousands to get it done in one go it's a work in progress. The arches have been cleared out and treated, I have the pictures. My mocking comment was a little harsh I will apologise, however I feel that unless you are part of the little clique on here, you are not taken seriously. I am here not to own the best car or the prettiest car or spend the most money on car (god knows I can't when my mortgage is £2400/month) I am here for the love of Nissan's, that what ultimatly brings us together. We need to remember that. I am happy with the workmanship as the company I am using do work on all manor of classic cars and I had to wait four weeks for an appointment. Maybe it's not as good as your local welder but they are becoming like hen's teeth down here. Maybe the work isn't up to your standard, but this is my car and it is the way I want it. I respect people's alloy wheel choice or bumper kit because at the end of the day being different is better than being the same. My car has about 3 years left in it due to previous owners lack of maintenance, I have accepted that and am trying to make it the best I can with the funds I have. You are all entitled to your views, although I may not agree with them, so please reply away...
  17. The plate was on there when I bought it. He has sorted that. The sills were completely opened up and internal rust cut out and replaced. The arches were also derusted and repaired. He sent me over 100 pictures of everything he did, I just added a few select images here for people to look out (and as it turns out, to mock). I know it's been done properly and will last long enough for my plans with the car. No car lasts forever especially if the previous owners mistreated it (in this case didn't do anything) and you are trying to rectify the problems. It's taken me nearly three years of saving, working on the car and paying people I trust. Sure it's not spotless like some of the cars on here and never will be. I have accepted that. Mocking people for their hard work and love for a car does seem unfair especially as none of you know anything close to the full story or state of the car and doesn't give off a good impression for this club.
  18. Had a call and the welding is all finished and its painted! The poly bushes have arrived, the new suspension is here, just waiting on the brakes now!

  24. Rockauto is who I use. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/nissan,1990,300zx,3.0l+v6+turbocharged,1209664,engine,timing+belt+&+component+kit,5759 Import tax along with a couple other bits was £22 in the end...
  25. Damn and blast. I was driving during the match, but some of the customers were streaming the match via the bus free wifi, so I heard sections of the match. Sounds like we let everyone down by some poor kicking choices. It sounds like Ireland played very well and would have won anyway... Yet again England have proven we are useless are sport and under pressure. Congratulations to Ireland and may your celebration be better than some of the "celebrations" I saw last night...
