Check the fuses down by the drivers footwell, then check the bulbs are not blown. I had two main beam bulbs died on me at the same time once and spend hours tracking around the car trying to work out why. First thing my mechanic did was change the bulbs and they worked fine! I would then start checking voltages with a multimeter

Mtec brakes do some excellent discs with your choice of grooves/ drilled/c-hooks and a good selection of pads including red/green/yellow stuff pads. They also do a stainless braided hose kit that makes a difference.
