How would people feel about starting earlier to miss the traffic? Maybe meet at 8am. Last thing I want is for us to follow Sunday drivers everywhere....

So that black plastic box is now silver metal like the main ballast and the total length is about 8 inches. I could get the main ballast behind the nose panel but the placement of the new silver box was directly where the bonnet slam panel is. I couldnt thread/place it anywhere. If you find them and and want to sell them, please let me know!

Meetup and Drive 30th October 2022
We are planning a meetup and drive on Sunday 30th October 2022. This will be the last one of the season, so dust off your covers, pull on those clothes, start your car and get your arse in gear....! We are going to meet about 8am on Eastbourne seafront for a meet and greet, then set off on a little route I have planned on some nice roads to Rykas Cafe in Box Hill where we will have lunch. People can then drive home at their own leisure. Parking on Eastbourne Seafront can be a pain, but 8am on a Sunday should be ok if we meet more towards the western end past Western Gardens and the Wish Tower. Ill try and get there early and nab some spaces for us.

https://www.hids4u.co.uk/H3-HIDS4U-Stealth-55W-Xenon-HID-Conversion-Kit.html I bought these last month and seem ok. Ballast cables are not long enough to hide under the nose panel though. Haven't looked properly at hiding elsewhere

I havent seen the car before, but I would hazard a guess that the previous owner has painted the bonnet....! I think its had its doors replaced as well, the red on the doors looks slightly different. Welcome to Zed ownership and the club! We are all helpful and some of us are even knowledgable! These cars are not cheap to run and maintain and the biggest killer is rust. That is the first thing you will need to spend all of your money on and then the bank loan you will be applying for.... Im not sure if its the picture, but the nearside arch looks like it has already gone. You will need to check other places such as all along the sills. Under the battery in the engine bay. The corners in the engine bay where the suspension turrett moulds into the wheelarch. A lot of rust can be prevented if caught early enough, but if you can see it on the arch or sills, normally its too late due to the design of the inner sills. Also check that the TeeTop drains are not blocked and not draining into the sills as this is a very quick way to rust out the inner sill and flood the fuse box by your feet. If you need anything, dont hesitate to ask! P.S well done for buying a red car, we all who are in the know, know that red cars are the best and fastest....??

Winter storage advice
Mileage on engines is important of course, however the heat cycle of an engine is more important. That is how many times an engine has heated up and cooled back down again. A little old ladies fiesta that is driven to the local shops and back everyday will do more heat cycles than a taxi driver and could suffer an earlier failure. Have a look at those remarkable stories of ford mondeos or toyotas in america doing 1 million miles and the common denominator is that they are taxi drivers or salesperson, so they start the car in the morning, drive 1000 miles and then turn it off. Yes that's 1000 miles, but its only one heat cycle and less damaging to the engine. If you are starting the car to let it idle and turning it off, you are doing a heat cycle for no reason. If the conditions are nice, start it and take it for a drive. not 2 miles down the shops but a proper drive to get it up to temperature and hotter. Get all the fluids moving around, get the turbos spinning and get some nice fuel in it. Most important though, get that grin on your face. I don't start my car unless I need to, sometimes its in the garage for the whole winter without moving, I just disconnect the negative on the battery. I have no power in my garage for a trickle charger, but that is only if I know it's going to be a few months of not driving it. During spring, summer and autumn, I park it up and just leave it as is until I next need/want it. If I do disconnect the battery all I have to do is re-do the settings on the stereo, but it's not a complicated one so it takes 30sec.

Twin Turbo Manual Conversion Help/Assistance
Hi all, My car is (hopefully) being converted to a manual this winter, along with a few extra bits. However Im really struggling to find all the bits I need. A couple of ebay sellers I have been in contact with are selling conversion kits for £2500. I messaged them to see what they would sell the kits to me minus the gearbox and propshaft (I have sourced these already) and one refused and the other said £1500. £1500 is a lot of money for a bunch of old rusted parts, so I went on Z1 to look at their conversion deal. Without the gearbox and what-not, theirs comes to $1400, already cheaper than the greedy ebay sellers over here as thats $1400 for brand new clean parts, but there is a catch: it is currently unavailable. I have messaged them to see whats happening, but Im not having much faith. I have even been looking around for a tatty manual car to use as a donor, but the cheapest I can find is a tatty red one in Wales for £4500. Gone are the days of cheap donors cars... So, I am looking for help. I need to beg, borrow (permanently), buy and steal (preferably not of course!) all the bits I need for a conversion. Please can you please raid your garages, lock-ups, cupboards and brains for the knowledge of any good quality parts you know would be sold to me (for the right price ofcourse!) Here is my list of items I need for a conversion: Gearbox = sourced TT flywheel = sourced Flywheel bolts Pressure plate bolts & washers transmission plates Propshaft = sourced Clutch booster, lines and vacuum canisters Clutch master Clutch slave Clutch lines Clutch pedal Brake pedal Shifter and linkage Shifter brace 2x rubber shifter boots Shifter boot Shifter boot retainer Shift bushes Gearknob Wiring harness I believe that is everything I need, I compared various online sources to create this list, but if you see something that is missing, please let me know. If you have any of these parts, I will get on my knees and pray to The Great God Zed that you say "here Tom, have it for free, ill pop it in the post"..... Failing that, money will exchange hands...
