  1. Sudesh sold me a great Zed a few years back and she's still my daily driver. If a Midlands member can help him out, then karma will be working :)
  2. Compliments of the Season, Stephen & Gary. Ferry terminal, yes: Southampton, no :)
  3. Hallo all, and Seasonal Greetings all round, I have been conspicuous by my absence but am still driving my Z. Now the argy-bargy of house-hunting, selling and buying is starting to settle down (we hope to evict the decorators and move in Feb) I may have a tad more time to be grumpy in this forum! Here we are on the way - can you spot where it is and where we've gone? Cheers - Merry Xmas and Splendid New Year, Gio
  4. Thanks Si, Sibyl has got a whole new lease of life and is just waiting for her 6pm kangachunks :). She says "hi". Would be nice to get out again and meet up. Fingers crossed. @ AndrewG - yep, had one of those :)
  5. You too. Not so bad, thanks. Spent more on the cat than the Zed this year :)
  6. Found my old cubby hole thing. I covered the inside in felt to make it less rattly. Anyone want it? £5 just to cover for postage.
  7. Cheers chaps :)
  8. He helped me out a lot with audio on my first Z. Helpful and knowledgeable chap. Farewell, Bob & thanks.
  9. And to finish off the story (I hope) [video=youtube_share;69ux99x1o-A] Thanks JeffTT for spot on diagnosis as usual, Thanks ConceptZ for rapid delivery and thanks Eurospec for fitting. And the 24,000 service, rear pads and MOT. Hope that's it until October... (Next to the yellow sticker from yesterday, I'm pretty sure that's the timing belt sticker from JeffTT on import back in 2011 :) )
  10. Missed it but Happy Birthday anyway :happybday:
  11. You win the prize! 67 miles (according to google) in 38 mins  I thought that would have been pushing it a tad.
  12. To avoid the plenum pull, you could relocate the knock sensor (search relocate knock sensor 300zx and you'll find loads of info). I had this done on my first silver TT http://www.angelfire.com/geek/vg30dett/DSR/DetSenRel01.html and there's other options http://twinturbo.net/nissan/300zx/forums/technical/view/786419/TECH-Detonation-Sensor-Relocation.html It's true that the OEM position is where Nissan wants it, but the above might give you some other options.
  13. Order completed at 17:40 on Friday night. Arrived 15:36 Monday. That's less than one working day from Phoenix Arizona to Berks! Usual excellent service from ConceptZ. Now, as a trivia quiz, what's odd about the extract from the UPS schedule? Cheers All, Gio
  14. No. It had a normal belt change by JeffTT on import May 2011 (precautionary because that way, you _know_ a timing belt change has been done). Then after 90,000km in May 2015 (I'd done a lot of miles) Eurospec did the "2nd time around" which included pulleys and the tensioner as it should. So either it has failed, or wasn't adjusted to spec or something else. Just one of those things that Zed ownership throws at you. At least it was caught in time so I'm relieved more than anything else.
  15. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you :detective:
  16. Bullet dodged, thanks to Jeff. Which is kinda fitting since he did the UK thing on this Zed a few years back. (And looked after my other 2 Zeds.) (Also thanks to Lymon for the ConZult and Eurospec for fitting in the inspection so quick.) Floppy belt as suggested by Jeff. Possible failed hydraulic tensioner. Parts ordered from ConceptZ. And I'm back home giving thanks no disaster when we went to IoW last week or last month ferrying sick kittys about. Oh, and here's the Zed back in 2011 freshly prepped for UK registration.
  17. I prob leapt in too quick  so belt must be removed and therefore changed? Gio
  18. Thanks Jeff. Just to clarify, can this be corrected without taking the belt off? Or if it needs taking off, you say it needs new belt because you mustn't re-use belts? Cheers
  19. It's similar, here's mine Mike
  20. @ dutchgold92 - pretty sure Eurospec would have spotted that, doesn't sound like it to me. @ Jeff - thanks will pass that on.
  21. Happy Birthday El Presidente
  22. It's there without any throttle so 1,000 - 1,200 on immediate cold start, and remains when down to warm tickover say 800rpm. Haven't looked for the upper limit yet. (PS Hi Jeff)
  23. @ Gaz_300 thanks mate @ groover thanks also - no, haven't changed the springs but they are mentioned in that link I posted. Been swopping emails with "incredibly helpful Nick" at ConceptZ and getting more suspicious about the gears. Just got the full version of ConZult (Hi Eric) because that has a solenoid on/off test and will see what transpires in the am. Still interested in hearing other experiences of same thing. "Knowledge is power". Cheers all :)
