  1. Indeed so - Happy Birthday Mr W
  2. Found info from Nissan http://nma.nissan.com.au/PublicWeb/content/microsites/ServiceReplacementParts/coolant.html
  3. Yep. If anyone else fancies a swift half, feel free to join in. I'm in the Percy right now as it happens and can report the choice of Mr Chubb's, Guardsman and Doom Bar. See you tomorrow, Col, Rich.
  4. Very apt for an elderly Italian - not from the Vatican was he?
  5. Welcome Mario. I'll leave experts to comment on the dash (being LHD, I'd guess they're km clocks so no converter to mph would have been needed). But the wheels are on the wrong way round (damn, not fast enough, beaten by Gary again). You should look at the part number stamped on the wheel itself and look for L = Left and R = Right because I don't think they did D and S.
  6. Three times would you believe arf arf once in the blue one and once at Beaulieu and again a few weeks after that. Good grief. Yep, me too. Good idea if anyone else wants to join in (even if their name is Richard and they've got a blue one :devil2: )
  7. Yep, need to check with mine also. But looking on the bright side how about http://the-perseverance.co.uk/ about 1 ish. It's about 5 mins from J13 or J14 M25. Quick drive round and then some refreshments. Well, that's what I normally do on a Sat lunchtime anyway :) And here's the proof...
  8. Sure, could help out next w/e (prob Sat) if no-one comes up with anything closer than Wraysbury.
  9. Unless you're going to have a set for winter and then change in the spring and back again in the winter, just get a good ordinary set. I've used Avon ZV5s on both my NA Autos (stock) and very happy with them for everyday grip and longevity. Current set (just coming up for change) 33,000 miles on the front and 26,000 miles on the rear - still got 2 - 4mm tread left. Available in stock 225 / 40 R16s for around £75 - £80 each. Guess what I'm buying for my next set?
  10. Go to the back of the grid, do not pass go until everyone else has, do not collect £200 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/30161617 Shame for Daniel but serves the other cheating smug gits right.
  11. I was intrigued so I looked it up. 10 years ago, blimey. Full stories and part fiches http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?143981-propshaft-from-a-2-2-fit-a-2-0-coupe and http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?36401-Propshaft-for-TT-2-2-Manual&p=304116#post304116 I quoted every chassis no, details, Japanese car etc etc, and specified a propshaft for a TT. Look what I got: Because they never did TT LWB in the US, the only part he had for the TT was for the SWB. So who was right and who was wrong? Nice guy, he offered to refund but shipping meant not worth it so I modded in UK. Result and I still saved money (as well as providing some laffs :D )
  12. If you want to rely on the Consumer Contracts Regulations (which replaced the Distance Selling Regulations in June this year) you need to buy from a vendor covered by those regulations (i.e. in the UK - or the rest of the EU as applies). These regs do not apply to US or other worldwide consumer contracts.
  13. They may have changed their website but right now, it says To me, that is not claiming "direct replica". And, under the liability section You ordered and received a set of rear spats which would fit a SWB. You got that. Is it an exact copy of the OEM for SWB? No. Did you ask them in your communication if it was? Clearly there's a mistake in the communication between you and vendor. In law, I regret to say, they have done nothing wrong (caveat emptor). They have been OK in offering a purchase price refund which matches what they would have been liable for if they were a UK vendor and you claimed your legal (UK & EU) rights under Distance Selling Regs. Looks like an honest mistake both ends. Learn from it and move on is what I'd do.
  14. You're both "right" and you're both "wrong". Mistakes happen, no-one died or lost their house. Disappointing, OK; "gutted" - well, not like a kipper, anyway. Are these exact copies of the SWB OEM ones? No. Different shape and different material (fiberglass clearly stated). Will they fit the SWB and not the LWB? Yes. Is the vendor under any legal obligation to refund shipping? No. Would the vendor be under any legal obligation to refund shipping if they were in UK? No (see distance selling regs - purchaser is liable for shipping) Would a US vendor be under any legal obligation in the UK to refund a UK puchaser? No. (Unless you want to report as criminal fraud and get plod on your side). US vendor has offered to refund price ex-shipping and FunkySi has offered to take back on your behalf. OK, not ideal but pretty good compromise. I speak as someone who bought the wrong propshaft from the US because I did not check part nos and turbo/na carefully enough. Was it the vendor's fault? No. Think of it as an educational bendy thing (thanks, Terry).
  15. I dimly remembered that from yonks ago so will have a dig round. You're right, Stephen, that is a relief! Thanks.
  16. If you're the seller, and you haven't notified DVLA, you will still be responsible for the car / tax etc. If you're the seller, you should give the buyer the V5C/2 or the buyer has no official doc that you have transferred the ownership. If you're the buyer and you haven't got tax (which means notiyfing the DVLA), you'll be liable for not having tax. Under what circumstance would a seller wish to remain responsible for the car having sold it? Under what circumstance would a buyer want to be driving a car without insurance or tax or being able to prove he hasn't nicked it? (other than some feckwit who shouldn't be allowed on the road anyway) And your reg no / MOT / insurance / tax is checked every time your plate is clocked by an ANPR camera so you don't have to wait for an accident before your tax is checked...
  17. Well maintained Z brakes are fine for everyday road use - especially with good pads. I track day'ed my OEM NA at Thruxton and the instructor was quite happy. Yes, after a few stonking laps, they started to go off a bit but you'd get that from most non-track-prepared cars. There are many upgrades incl pads (MJP's and Pagid are ones I find are better than OEM for road use) which improve performance before going to disc/caliper changes - but the most important upgrade is to make sure your brake system is well maintained. Or get a real 1999 ;)
  18. Good pads as well - MJP's metallics are better than Nissan as are the ones I get from Eurospec (Pagid). Don't know if anyone has fitted '99 brake system to earlier cars http://www.nissan-global.com/GCC/Japan/NEWS/257a.htm But I can certainly confirm that '99 brakes on my NA are better than earlier ones (OEM). Having said that, brakes on my earlier S1 TT and S3 NA were fine and as has been said here should be fine as long as properly maintained.
  19. You're right - that's not right. Even on a track day at Thruxton in my OEM-spec NA, that never happened. Brakes went a bit off (natch) but pedal didn't go right down.
  20. [video=youtube_share;z4ZxxHbJGbY]
  21. I was going to do a grid with all NA/TT LWB/SWB variants but thought of a better solution - just ask you next time it comes up :thumbup1:
  22. Really? Would you like to re-evaluate that statement before I get all nitpicky? (Don't mind me, FunkySi, I'm just jealous of your recent trip. Git. :D )
  23. Yes - leaky heater matrix is relatively common. It's a really difficult job which is why people bypass instead of replace. But it can be done.
