My train adventure!
I got home late that night; very late. What could I say to my wife? "Darling, I've been beaten up again"... ... let's face it, she's credulous as hell. A punk stopped me in the street. He said "You got a light, mac?". I said "No, but I got a dark brown overcoat."

15 years, 3 Zeds, 2 forums (or was it 3?) and 208,000 miles
Thanks chaps, what goes around comes around especially in the Z world so peace and karma on you all - and see you at Beaulieu if you're coming :)

What did you do to your zed today?
Lazy git time again - drove it somewhere else so that someone else could service it for me :) Thanks Rachel, Ben & young chap I'd not met before. Should get me to Beaulieu on Sun. Will I find time to wash it after tomorrow's rain?

15 years, 3 Zeds, 2 forums (or was it 3?) and 208,000 miles
Must be mad. Just looking up service history ahead of visit to Eurospec on Thurs and noticed I bought my first Zed 15 years ago today. 208,000 miles later I'm on my third. If I'd topped the bloody salesman back then, I'm sure I'd be out by now. There are so many people here and in the ZClub who've kept my enthusiasm (and Zeds) going over the years - too many to thank individually but you know who you are so thanks anyway. Apart from that, why do I bother? I still can't find any better looking sports coupe/GT which looks this good, drives so well and had so much load space for when I need it. What don't I like? The mpg is too old-school and it sometimes bugs me to be using it as a daily commuter. Deserves better care, really. Still cars are built to be driven even if it is just round the NCR. Hopes for the future? Wish I could give up the London commute so I could go back to a TT manual! More likely, keep it stock (someone has to) and keep it well looked after. Get the slight rust spots done and that ding. Oh and replace yet another bloody passenger window switch trim. If I'm still Zedding in 15 years, you have my permission to shoot me/get me sectioned. Looking forward to Beaulieu - Happy Zedding one and all.

Thanks Lexx
Been waiting for inspiration for witty yet unsexist and inoffensive knob gag I could slide in here but just couldn't toss one off. Arrived in the very prettily decorated envelope. Thanks, much appreciated. Oh wait, memory stirs, here's one from the 1977 University of Surrey Rag Mag:

The end of an era ...
There you go, get 'em in the classifed ads quick, retro's back in fashion (at least that's what I keep telling myself when I see my haircut in the mirror).

Shame you'll be Zedless for a whille - but it's good it's found a good home and will get some use. And welcome back el presidente. Does this mean we can have the proper forum colour scheme and log back now?

Aircon pod slider knob
Morning All, it is with a heavy heart I have to admit my knob crumbled and fell off. If anyone has a spare, it might help stop FunkySi taking the p*ss out of my non-standard trim at Beaulieu. Ta.

dangerous water temperatures
Using ECUtalk today coming round A406 into Hanger Lane stop start in usual bloody traffic jam, water temp topped out at indicated 96C. Aircon on, no airflow, very slow / static. When eventually got going at 70 ish (on M25 after the usual A40 hell), dropped to 94 then 92. Got off the Mway and ambled to pub at 30 ish, dropped to 91. Stopped for 20 mins, got back in car, up to 92 (yes engine off but no fan). This is NA Auto unmodded. In the winter, it sticks at 80- 82 so I was suprised to see 96 but it was f hot ambient and NCR traffic jam. Oh, and all the way through, the OEM temp needle just pointed left to mid range as it normally does (whether winter 80 or summer 96). So that seems to confirm what someone told me here years ago that the OEM guage does NOT show actual temp, it just shows "in normal range" - i.e. it the real temp is within what it "should" be, needle stays horizontal. When it starts to climb, be worried as that means "hotter than it should be".

What did you do to your zed today?
Well, if yesterday counts, took a pic of the odometer That's the 4th time I've seen the 6 figure tickover (km) in a Zed! :surrender:

Monumental cock-up, hugely pissed off - I might miss Coventry!! :(
Oh, crap - sorry for you Si. Take a deep breath and chalk it down to experience. As an ex work mate of mine used to say "does it matter?... And even if so, does it really cosmically speaking matter?". Just remember that you're standing on a planet that's revolving and evolving at a thousand miles an hour....

99 spec front head light info
There are 2 types of 99-spec lights: factory HID which have the silvery finish and non-HIDs which are as far as I can see the same as normal.

Minor starting issue
Oops just read this (must have been distracted by FunkySi's French spelling) - never bothered to check mine, didn't know late models didn't have a diag ligh on the ECU.

Minor starting issue
It's not OBDII as I posted on the other thread. Most it might be is to have an OBDII connector but should have Consult behind that. At least that's what ECUTalk say and my Series 6 has both normal 300ZX Consult and normal consult connector. So a normal Consult/ConZult/ECUTalk whatever should do. It also means you can use the normal ECU flashing led error code check if you don't have easy access to one of the gadgety things :)

99 Spec 300zx
Hi Baz, it's not actually OBDII. It might have the OBDII plug -mine doesn't, just an ordinary Consult connector. Link to the ECUTalk site http://www.ecutalk.com/consultlcd.aspx Welcome to the '99 club :D
