  1. Fairlady = Import SWB = 2 seats LWB = 4 seats (slightly slower than SWB due to the extra weight) Major service/cam belt = 60k miles Common problems = detonator (knock) sensor. Mine has just gone :( Manuals are faster than Autos (I think auto = 280bhp and manual = 300bhp but correct me if im wrong) There are more autos than manuals I believe you can get some that are hard tops (not t-bars) but are very rare!
  2. Anyone going to the British Motor Show in Excel, London this year? http://www.britishmotorshow.co.uk/
  3. Origin B2 are the best on the market! I have it and is brilliant! It has won many awards! http://www.originb2.com/ It covers: approaching safety cameras mobile/hand-held laser speed cameras accident blackspots schools congestion charging zones Either that or get a Tom Tom GPS system for about £300 for the basic version. For about £20 a year I think from Tom Tom's website you can download the camera locations and it will notify you when you approach a camera! That way you will get home without getting lost and wont have any unexpected speed tickets ;) Do bare in mind with Origin B2 and Road Angel you must pay subscription charges of £50 a year so Tom Tom GPS is cheaper option! I have both but the camera download wasnt available when I first bought it - damn!
  4. If you plan to do some DIY on your zed, I suggest you buy the 300zx workshop manual. They go for about £5 on Ebay. HTH
  5. Mine dont chatter, but my friends Evo does but then he's running 1.6 bar
  6. If a boost controller was fitted, which would also mean a new chip i.e. JWT. I take it the ECU no longer can control the boost, thus a detonator sensor would become useless as the ECU cannot put the car into safety mode! Am I correct?
  7. I saw a blue Zed in Erith. I was just entering the Erith shopping centre near Erith High Street. I was in a black zed!
  8. I checked detonator connector at top of engine and there is no corrosion inside. The contacts are in excellent condition, like new!
  9. Thanks for that  Mine needs to be replaced. I get intermittant boost. To start with I get 0.7 bar, when the engine gets hot it runs 0.5 bar. My ECU gives the error 34. From what I have read, these are the symptoms of a faulty dett sensor. However, what is there to go wrong in a dett sensor? If it is faulty, surely I should be getting 0.5 bar boost all the time?
  10. Hi guys, How does a detonator sensor work? I cant find any detailed information about it. All I can find in the 300zx manual (cd) is a small paragraph on knock sensors. Is a knock sensor and dett sensor the same thing? What is the dett sensor actually sensing? Is it heat or knocking? Also, how much is it to buy a new sensor?
  11. Yes you can but I would expect problems or bad body work for that price. But you never know. I suppose it all depends on its age. I paid £6200 for mine. I recommend the trader 'Import-ance'. He does some lovely zeds, which have some very expensive, top quality mods like mine but they are going for a lot more than £3k. HTH
  12. I have defi guages. They are the dogs danglys
  13. What sort of temperatures do you get? My water temp normally goes no higher than 80 - 90oc and my oil temperature is about the same. The max the oil temp has gone is 105oc! Is this about right?
  14. Would it be worth giving the sensor a clean first before attempting anything drastic? In another thread it states that it can cost as much as £600 to replace sensor. Is this correct?
  15. Yes I am in safety boost most of the time! How much does it cost to get det sensor fixed/replaced? Who in the London area can do it for me?
  16. Hi guys I got the error code '34' which by the looks of it means 'detonation sensor circuit'. What do I need to do now?
  17. Are you gonna press charges?
  18. Oh no, what happened mate? Cant you claim on insurance?
  19. Why do you want to replace your windscreen mate? If there is a problem with yours, autoglass should replace it with a new one for free through your insurance company as long as your fully comp. And it doesnt affect your no claims!
  20. Im am getting 0.5 boost more often than I should be! All I need to is drive my car a couple of miles, turn it off and back on again and the car runs at 0.5 bar. Could this be due to blocked intercooler(s)? It might be worth a check, how could I check for blockages? Is there a way to unblock them i.e. a unblocking solution if there is such a thing?
  21. Could the loss of boost be due blocked intercooler(s)? If so, whats the best way to unblock?
  22. How do I do that mate?
  23. This morning it was reasonably cool and I was still running 0.5 bar! It seems to be running 0.5 bar more often but I do still get 0.7 bar quite often! What should I do?
  24. I have recently had a £500 sevice and am running fully synthetic oil and Platinum plugs! Also, I always use BP Ultimate! I also thought safety boost was around 0.3 bar?
  25. Phew! Thanks Chris. I can sleep easy now ;) lol
