Is this what you bought from Smithy? They're £255 for the fronts. What about the rears as I am getting wear there too. I know Smithy's products are of high quality but are there cheaper adjustable upper arms as I dont really want to spend £250 for new upper arms front & back.

Hi, I have Tein Coilovers and the ride height is adjustable. I have just replaced all four tyres and have noticed a lot of wear around the inside edges of all four old tyres. I suspect this is due to the camber or incorrect suspension setup. I have rang Abbey Motorsport and am awaiting them to get back to me. They said they are not sure if they can help as they specialise in Skylines, however they said I might need new upper arms and bushes to get the shocks back in alignment. Does anyone know what this means or whats involved? Can anyone advise me on this matter and whether coilovers can be re-calibrated or aligned. Thanks

Yes, he said the tyre profile is % of the tyres width. It didnt help much as it still went over my head but im happy that the tyre sizes are correct.

Thanks bud. I rang Falken tyres today and they cleared this up. It is because they are wider :) I have ordered 4 Falken 452's. Came to £315 included P&P, which is about £30 cheaper than mytyres.co.uk Should be here 2moz :)

Owning a zed is cheaper than running a zed and a run around. I love driving it and its there to be used :)

K&N and Stillen claim that their induction kits will increase a N/A by 6bhp and a TT by 20bhp (sounds a lot to me - but you should certainly get 10 bhp from a TT)

I have decided to buy new tyres. The tyre sidewall markings are as follows: Front: 235/45/R17 Rear: 255/40/R17 My question is, why is the front aspect ratio (45) bigger than the rear aspect ratio (40)? Should this be the case? At the moment they are all Bridgestone Blizzak winter tyres which came with the car. They are fine in the dry but are darn right dangerous in the wet. They aquaplane really easily. Also they have a maximum speed rating of 99 mph Toyo Proxes seem to be the number one choice. MyTyres.co.uk have quoted £335 for 4 tyres. Does anyone know of anyone cheaper?

Yours is UK. Imports are much more expensive to insure :(

I have only just turned 24, I got insured with my 300zx TT import, fully comp with A-Plan when I was 23. However, I did pay £1600. Ouch! That was the cheapest quote I found. The price depends on the area, the closer to london, the more expensive the quote!

Agreed, A-Plan was the cheapest for me and they cover all modifications. Many insurance companies don't cover all mods. In my experience, coilovers are the worst mod to cover coz most dont know what they are. Most people that have coilovers seem to insure them as just 'lowered suspension', which is wrong.

Hi, I found out last week that the 300zx came with t-top storage protectors. How do they work? I know there are some straps in the boot, so I assume they are used to secure the t-tops down? Is it worth buying the covers? Any for sale?

I was wrong. 1996 was the last year for the zed in America and Japan carried on making zeds until 2000 :) I wonder how much a 2000 reg would cost now?

I've got the 300zx-350z book at home and am pretty sure it said Jap stopped in 1996 and America stopped in 1999. I will check tonight :)

If your mate dont tell the insurance company, they will be in the right not to pay out if he has a claim because they do ask you if you have had any convictions etc. I would expect the premium to go up but I suppose it depends on your age and the insurance company.

I believe 99 spec means the 1999 model. In America they made 300zx's up to 1999. I think air bags were an option after 1993 The earlier 2+2 zeds (series 1) only had 2 point seat belts. The series 2 like mine has the 3 point seat belts, which does look a lot safer!
