  1. I cant argue with that. lol. I did think about getting a STI Type R myself originally or an Evo but couldnt afford it. Evo's are great cars too. Evo 2's are the best of the early Evo's IMO. Ideally though the Evo 6 and above! An Evo 2 would cost £4k ish. However, a Subaru Turbo 2000 is probably less likely to be thrashed and they are not that old. I think a 1998 P reg would only set you back around £4k, which is good going.
  2. The only scooby worth going for is the STI Type R in my opinion. But you're looking at £7k + for a good one. WRX and Turbo 2000's start from £3k+ plus, but its like going for the Skyline GTS rather than the GTR. Why go for second best?
  3. I know, 250bhp in a FWD car is stupid! It was on top gear a few months back and they did say that Mazda spent millions of pounds on research and development to get the car to hold down that power!
  4. How much is your classic insurance?
  5. It is the quickest front wheel drive car out at the moment, that is true. Type R's however are an awesome bit of kit. 200bhp in a NA 2.0l engine is very impressive! However, I will stick with my zed any day :) However, soon the new Mazda 3 will be out, which delivers 250bhp in a front wheel drive car. I dont know how it will hold down the power http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/spyshots/200096/mazda_3_mps.html I think the Type R is 0-60 in 6.6 but they are only numbers. Again your NA zed would still whip it mid range. In a drag race I still think your NA zed would win mainly because a zed being a rear wheel drive would get better grip than a Type R. Thats my opinion anyway. My last car was a Nissan Almera GTI, 2.0l 16v 150+ bhp and front wheel drive. I had yokohama tyres on it and it would wheel spin a lot of the time when using a lot of acceleration from a stand still. It annoyed me so much. I get a lot better grip in my zed :D
  6. Your Zed would win hands down as the Civic Type R is shite until it reaches VTEC, which is around 7k revs then you get a tiny burst of power then it all happens again in the next gear. lol.
  7. This maybe true from a stand-still as they have 4 wheel drive and so better grip. However, mid range they have no chance. I was going about 60mph, I put her into 3rd and floored it. The Sabaru just lagged behind. My car performs best in 2nd and 3rd. Nobody has beaten me off the lights so far. However, the only people silly enough to attempt are chavs in their civics, mg zrs and alike and the odd businessman in a Saab Turbo or Mecedes.
  8. Im not on Classic insurance but my friend is. He has a GTR32, however his policy states he cant do no body mods at all. Not even change the wheels. However, he can do whatever he wants under the bonnet. He is 28 now, but even when he first got the GTR32 4 years ago, his premium was £250 on classic insurance.
  9. I was coming home from bluewater yesterday about 1am and as I was joining the A2, a Sabaru Imprezza WRX pulled along side me. It was proper pimped out with vinals down the side of it - great big wale fin spoiler. I couldnt resist but show him who's boss and put my foot down. He tried so hard to keep up, it was pathetic. Loser! :D I really love my Zed.
  10. The auto activation of the immobiliser is Clifford's default. I think there is a setting to enable the alarm also but dont know what it is!
  11. I thought trackers were hidden behind car trims or in other hard to find places. How would they where to look for it?
  12. No reason really, just a bit more security :D
  13. Perhaps im thinking of the wrong feature. If I dont have the keys in the ignition after 30 seconds the immobilisers activates, not the siren. What I would like is for the siren to be activated too. So the doors dont auto lock, but if someone opens the door after 30 seconds then siren sounds. I had this feature on my clifford concept 300 on my last car.
  14. Hi guys, I have a clifford concept 650 and would like the alarm to auto arm automatically. How do I do this? At the moment just the immobiliser auto arms but I would like the siren to sound as well if doors are opened when car is not locked.
  15. bump, any ideas anyone? I think it could be the relay? Can anyone verify this?
  16. I got Antec Power supply too. Their cases are fab, mine came with 2 system fans and quick release removable hard drive bays. Quality!
  17. I third that :D Loved the film! Its not an oscar winner its true but was very entertaining and put a smile on my face!
  18. Hi mate You cant just get any clifford key fob. You need to go to an authorised Clifford dealer and they must order you one. There is a code in the manual that determines the frequency of your key fob. I dont know why both your key fobs are not working, the first thing id try is a new battery! Approx £3 each. Clifford do recommend getting your alarm serviced every year, which costs about £40 if no faults are found. You could book yourself one of those. HTH
  19. I know where you're coming from bud. I hate it when I have to park my car somewhere I dont know. You cant trust anybody these days! Bloody chavs!
  20. The engines in Nissan 300zx's and Nissan Skylines are perfectly balanced, which reduce vibration and other stresses, which improve performance, effeciency and reliability of the engine as wear is reduced. The benefits of having a balanced engine is that they should maintain their BHP even with a 15 year old car as long as the engine has been kept in good condition.
  21. HI Mark, Thats good advice. Many thanks. With these plugin ECUs though, I thought most are mapped to cater for cars that are decatted. Can you recommend a chip that will cater for a car that has the cats still in place and would cater for a boost controller and induction kit? Also, would would you recommend to do it? Many thanks
  22. Ive been looking at obtaining 380 - 400bhp myself! It appears that turbos and injectors are good for a maximum of 400bhp. Any more than that you will need new 555 injectors, uprated intercoolers, uprated turbos, new oilcooler and an uprated fuel pump. All this will probably set you back about £5k. However, with a good ECU, im looking at Apexi Power FC, a boost controller running at 1 bar, and a good breathing induction kit such as Apexi and a decatted sports exhaust you should be able to obtain 380 bhp! With an Apexi Power FC, boost controller and Apexi induction kit, all this would cost about £2k as the Apexi Power FC is about £1600 fitted. It all depends on where you plan to go with you car. If you know you will end up with 600 bhp in the next 2 years then Apexi Power FC or alike it must be. However, if you want a max 400bhp then look at JWT that has a map on it already. This is about £100. So the cheap route of obtaining 380 bhp would set you back about £1k if you pay someone to fit boost controller and ECU. Or about £500 all in if you do it yourself! However, I plan to leave my cats in as if those turbo seals go, thats £1500 repair job! HTH
  23. This should help too http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=74739
  24. Im VCR'ing it ;)
  25. Hi everyone, On the way home from work today I was feeling a bit cold as its a bit damp and wet outside. So I decided to turn my interior heater on. Anyway, after a few miles I could hear a strange clicking noise. I turned down the radio and it was coming from the fan. It seemed to be switching itself on and off very quickly. I suppose this could be due to the damp weather! Could anyone shed some light on this for me? Would it be the switch or a bad earth somewhere? Any help would be appreciated!
