  1. Hi guys, I have about £1000 - £1250 max to spend on mods for my motor! At the moment I have the standard filters, so am interested in an induction kit that wont cause MAF problems (Maybe Smithy's dual cone system). Also, I am interested in a boost controller, which would mean updating my ECU. What can I get for between £1000 - £1250? Also, any recommendations of makes & models and places where to get installed. Thor Racing look very good! I have looked at Thor Racing's website Thor Racing and I can get an Apexi Power FC and commander unit for £675 + fitting and remapping an extra £412 + £280 for a boost controller + £300 to fit boost controller. (I think thats correct!? ) So thats a total of £1667 + i'll need an induction kit too! Sounds mega expensive! Thor Racing did recommend Link XLEM ECU, which is even more expensive! Anyone heard of them? Anyway, what can I get for about £1000 - £1250 for ECU / boost controller / induction kit? I dont fancy getting a plug in chip as I have my decats in place and most preloaded maps are programmed for having cats! Plus I kinda like the commander console idea with the Apexi Power FC or alike!
  2. Brake fluid does wonders to paint work :x:
  3. Something similar happened to me. Makes me so mad! I had just parked up next to a Vauxhall Astra at work. Two people then got into the Astra as they were leaving, the passenger doesnt own a car, he cycles everywhere. Anyway, he swung the door open and hit my car. I shouted him, I said "What is your problem?". I dont think he did it out of spite, but he is a bit of a a**ehole and is careless. As he works in same building as me and I work in IT, I put all his requests at the bottom on the queue! Way way down under the carpet!
  4. This is freaky! click to watch
  5. Just worked it out today, been averaging 12mpg around town  And most of that is just sitting in traffic  Just thought you should know
  6. Get Smithy's twin cone Apexi filter! :D
  7. Can you confirm if one was sent to me? I did PM my area rep a couple of weeks ago but got new reply!
  8. Hi Guys I def need new tyres. My current tyre speed is Q, which is max of 99mph. Plus they're snow tyres :( Been looking at the Falken FK452's from falkentyres.co.uk Has anyone bought from them? Also, they dont seem to have a rim protector! Can anyone verifty this or recommend a good tyre that comes with side wall protector?
  9. I dont think spacers will be a problem as the nuts would hold the wheel in place. I think spacers are a waste of time personally, they just help to line up the wheel on the hub. I would personally check the wheel balancing first. Its the cheapest option to check first at only £5 per wheel at Quik Fit or alike. Colin
  10. Thanx, that'll be cool! My next job is to get new tyres as im currently running snow tyres. They seem to be perfect for drifting as thats all my car wants to do in the rain. lol Then I want to get a boost controller and ECU mapping. Thinking of going with Thor Raciing and get an Apexi Power FC stage 1 tune. That'll be cool.
  11. Two chavs in a Saxo 1.2 wanted to race me last week. It was late at night, about 11:30pm. I didnt even put her into gear until the lights had gone green for about 2 seconds. I couldnt be bothered with them. They actually waited even though the lights were green. They started moving when I started moving. At that point they were mucking about, swirving near my car, so I just slammed the pedal to the metal. They might as well have been going backwards as they dissappeared from my rear view mirror in about 2 blinks. lol
  12. I was there in the waiting room, so he couldnt deny taking it out. I think he thought I was born yesterday as he said he was checking if there was any wheel shake. :xxx: I said you dont get wheel shake from tracking, the only problem it causes is tyre wear, which is how I knew my tracking was out. He then said "Ive seen your car out and about, where do you live?" I had to tell him for receipt purposes, But I didnt tell him where I keep it, which is in a locked garage! As I said, I hate monkey men! Who do you trust nowadays? Im scared of taking my car to anyone! I do try and do as much as I can myself. Perhaps I should enrol on a mechanics course
  13. Hi guys, Just had the tracking done on my Zed! They took it out on the road twice. Was it necessary? If they have electronic re-calibrating systems, surely that will tell them when its inline again? Makes me so mad. If they want to drive a Zed, why not go any buy one for themselves  I hate monkey men :smw:
  14. Whats Ronin about? Dont think ive ever seen it! :x:
  15. Is the wheel shake all the time or only at certain speeds? It could be something simple like wheel balancing?
  16. You assume correctly, no warranty was offered. However, this is not the point as I have done nothing wrong. I have contacted Ebay explaining the matter but not as detailed as above! Ebay suspended my account straight away! I thought they had to give 10 days before they could do this. What if I had bidded on something or what if I was selling other items? I think Ebay has made a mistake!? Here is my original Ebay listing: Ebay Listing
  17. Hi Guys, I would like to ask for your advice regarding a very serious Ebay matter. I recently sold my previous car on Ebay. It was in excellent condition, I had it serviced 5 times I think whilst I had it, which was only 2 years and 4 months. The car also recently had 2 new front tyres fitted and the tracking done at the same time. I had the receipts for this too! I also had the AC re-gassed last summer and all was working fine. I had lots of receipts to show what work was done and he himself thought it was impressive! I was very sad to see it go, but it had to let it go in order for me to afford my 300ZX. I had many bids on the car and a lot of interest. The winning bidder came out of the blue, he was a new bidder in the last 5 minutes of the auction. He didnt ask me any questions about it on Ebay or come to see it. He wanted to pay cash and pick it up the following day, which he did. When he arrived, he was with 3 other people. He wanted to check everything, which I agreed too. He checked the brake lights, reverse lights, fog lights, indicators, hazzards, electric windows and all the other electrics. He also checked the AC and he confirmed it working. He then wanted it to just idle for a few minutes to see if it revealed any unpleasant secrets, which it didnt as the car was faultless. He DIDNT ask if he could drive it and I DIDNT offer as I assumed he wasnt insured as he didnt know the cars registration number! I took him out for a good 20 minutes ride, including on a fast dual carriage way. Upon arriving home, he wanted me to leave the car running to see if it over heated. Again, he found nothing as the car was faultless. He paid the full amount of the car, but requested a discount. This goes against Ebay's policy. I said NO as the car only met my reserve and I want the full price. Anyway, OVER A WEEK LATER, he contacts me saying the AC is not working and the wheel shakes at 60 mph and wants to know what I will do about it. I responded with a polite email, stating that as a goodwill gesture, I would pay for the front wheels to be re-balanced as this could only be the cause of it. As for the AC, this was all working and so was not prepared to do anything. And as a result he has now given me negative feedback and has contacted Ebay, who have now suspended my account as he told Ebay that the description was 'Significantly Different'. I have a good feedback with never having recived a negative before. This bloke desperatly was seeking a discount from day one and I feel that this is a way he thinks he can obtain it. What are your thoughts on this? Please help as I feel victimised!
  18. Thanks for this Marty. Much appreciated! ECU Map One sounds the best for me, however I have opted to keep my cats. Can the map be adjusted accordingly to accomate this? Also, how much am I looking at for all this fitted? Is the actual chip included in the price? Many thanks Colin
  19. I wasnt aware of a third Fast & Furious film other than Tokyo Drift. Are you sure? I know the makers of Fast & Furious released the film 'Torque', which was all about bikes. That was pretty good. Im def gonna see the new F & F film. Its all about the cars
  20. FAO v6Power & John Dixon Mapping will be a concern of mine soon. At the mo, my car is pretty much standard apart from the cat back exhausts. I have decided to leave the cats in due to the POSSIBLE problems they could have on the turbos. I am however interested in a boost controller and induction kit. In order for a boost controller I know I need an ECU upgrade. Most people seem to get fitted an 'off the shelf' chip, which sounds dangerous to me. My question is, should I fit an induction kit and boost controller first then seek an ECU upgrade/mapping. As if I get an ECU upgrade first to accomodate the boost controller etc, the mapping will then be out of date. I know ECU's will learn, but how good are they? Surely a custom map is better? Also, what should I go for? JWT seems to be the most popular but they are an 'off the shelf' chip and dont have a safety map which sounds dangerous! What are your recommendations?
  21. Dont take it to Nissan. Then charge about £120 + for it. I took my last car to RSR and they charged about £80. HTH
  22. Yep, I have bought one now. And a proper minter it is too ;)
  23. It worked for me at work but not at home. So I updated my quicktime and then it worked. Give that a try bud ;)
  24. Yes its Engine management Anti lags works by the turbos always running, hence all the pops and bangs. Doubt it does your turbo(s) much good if running for longs periods of time tho. He only runs it on special occasions and is awesome. It blew all the sponge stuff from inside his back box. lol. I was following him and all these bits of sponge was hitting my windscreen. lol He then had to get it all out with some pliars and is now MEGA loud!
  25. Im not sure the technical but I could find out. I know he has a switch so he can turn it on and off :) I've been in it loads of times and its insanely quick. Quickest thing ive ever been in, it rips your guts out. lol. He did a 1/4 mile at Santa Pod in 12.7 which is pretty impressive
