  1. Hi and thanks. :) My head unit is an older Alpine unit. It's about 6 or 7 years old now and at the time, you had to buy additional packs to increase the main headunit's functionality. You can add a reverse camera, satnav and TV, but currently, mine doesn't have it, but the menu option is there. If I bought the accessories, it would. I am considering getting a reverse camera actually, if I can find one small enough. I have hidden reverse parking sensors too, but it would be nice to see where low curbs were etc. The newer Alpine double din head units are all integrated now. I am considering replacing mine at sometime in the future with an all-singing-all-dancing head unit as I'd really like bluetooth also. Likely to be another Alpine unit as I consider them a premium brand. You could look at getting a used one too as they seldom go wrong. Mine has been fault-free ever since I've had it. This is a good unit here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alpine-ICS-X8-App-Link-Station-Double-DIN-Multimedia-Unit-DVD-CD-USB-Bluetooth-/281196838694?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item4178a33f26 You'd need to buy a GPS antenna and a reverse camera, but neither are expensive.
  2. I don't function well at these temperatures. Z stays WELL AWAY from grit/salt! Sodium hydroxide anyone? lol
  3. I had my rear screen removed for repaint and had the pros do it and had it replaced with blue tint glass. Unsupported, the glass is not that strong and can easily shatter, not something I'd want to do myself. I had a new lower seal to go on. Correct, top trim is about £170.
  4. I probably would too, but the car is SORN now. Make the most of it, give it a few weeks and there'll be salt and grit everywhere.
  5. I can't say I like the styling on this car, but I am aware of its pretty impressive spec list! :)
  6. Actually, the 350z is quite an accomplished little sports car. I've driven a few of them, one of which I took across 3 states and they're a really nice drive. My only criticism is their lack of power in terms of driver experience, but this is really only on the early models. They have pretty good little chassis; when the rev-up engine replaced the earlier engine, it made the car far more punchy (again, I've driven both). That 3.5 is a decent engine actually and responds very well to turbo charging and super charging and even to lesser modifications such as modified intake, throttles and some head work. For those that like NA units, it's better than a lot of cars in its class IMO. The 3.5 is strong, sounds good and doesn't really go wrong....now the gearbox on the other hand, chocolate. Driving position is good and the interior is quirky, a very different beast to the 300zx and appeals to a slightly different market and is designed and targeted at a different market. It fulfills its brief pretty well. I am a big Z-car fan and ALL have their merits. When the 350z was launched, I didn't think too much of it, but as time has moved on and I've had chance to drive a number of them, I've learned to appreciate them as a drivers' car and their appearance has really grown on me. I would actually quite like one. With a NISMO bodykit and a choice set of wheels, I think they look better than all their direct competition. I would rather have the 350GT (Infiniti G35 coupe) though, but I do like the Z33.
  7. I'm getting a 12 month old Leon FR in a few weeks. I have had a Leon before and I rate them. Newer Leons have build quality comparable with VW.
  8. Oh wow, they are different. LoL @ 'Fortune Favors the Brave'.
  9. I guess for a simpleton like you, it maybe a little too much, but I love it! My last 2 VWs, a Leon and a 3 Series BMW have had it. It's officially a nice feature in my book! :p
  10. The recent one Jim had in that he did a gearbox swap was pretty hanging underneath. Guess the older more abused ones are starting to show their signs of age. One thing I notice, the quality of material seems superior on the Z32 over the Z33.
  11. Jimmer might know about difference in 350z clutches as he's done a few. I hope you swore at those bolts Jeff! Looks like they needed some 4-letter words hurled at them!
  12. ....for those that aren't too sure, that's the 1-tap function on the indicator stalk to give 3 flashes. Most new cars have this now apart from cheap and/or small cars.
  13. Just wondering whether anyone has considered doing this modification? It's a simple 'hidden' OEM-esq type mod which I have been wanting to do for a while now. My last 4 DDs have had it and I find it quite useful on motorway driving. I have come across some wiring schematics, but nothing that I've actually understood in terms of relays required or what have you. I have come across this: http://e31wiki.org/wiki/One-touch_turn_signal_module but was hoping there may be an easier route to take with this? Just wondering whether groover or phutumsch have looked into this or would know?
  14. I guess. I am completely naive when it comes to crime and law in general as I've never been in any trouble. Spose it's common sense too....and I'm not best known for that! haha I agree, the deterrents 'community service' or a fine or a few months in the nick aren't really much of a deterrent.
  15. Why the hell would somebody do that!?!?!?!?!?!!? There are reasons why people steal, even though it's wrong, it's a desirable classic.....but to then burn it out? WHY!?!?!?! Why couldn't it just be 'dumped'? Why the hell would someone then have to do such a thing?!
  16. Nice article Andrew. Thanks for sharing!
  17. Please don't make one Dave. :wack:
  18. Well let's face it, other than the GTR and Z cars, nothing exciting has come out of Japan since the Supra really. So I guess seeing anything interesting, as you've suggested would be down to meets or events.
  19. Love it! EVERYTHING about Japan interests me. I need to go there!
  20. The thing with doing stuff to the front arch is the fact that the front wing of the Z32 is one of its nicest aspects and its own curve to meet the wheel arch. I think by adding extension to this smooth and nice curve would ruin it. I don't mind it with just the rears having a lip. Excuse the blur!
  21. Not surprised. 15PSi on a stock engine is circa 320-350hp, big difference in power.
  22. ...I will agree, they are impressive machines. You can't compare them to a Z though in any shape or form. The Evo is A:Brash and damn ugly (unless it's an Evo7 or newer) - about as elegant and sexy as a female bodybuilder, B: they put a lot of supercars to shame, let alone the Z, so I wouldn't get disheartened by that C:They don't really sound that great, 4-bangers never really do D: I just couldn't put up with one. I think they are amazing machines, but I wouldn't sacrifice, the beauty, noise and driving position of the Z32 over one.
  23. Maybe he has an NA :wack:
  24. Not really my thing, but it looks clean and I love that teal colour.
