  1. I wonder how it effects the driving? the 350Z is supposed to be a pretty perfectly balanced drive as standard. I wouldn't pay full whack for one but I'd like to give one a go some time.

Last known good config prob wont work as you need to select it the very first time you have problems. If it wont let you rebuild it then the best way to recover your work is to do what Mark said. Buy a 2.5 to 3.5" adapter and take your drive out and put it into a desktop PC as a second drive. Then get all your bits off it. I can help you run through it if you do decide to do this, or you can send it to me if you buy the adapter? I had an adapter for ages but I picked it up recently and it had broke which is a bit of a b*gger.
  3. Good on you mate, keep it up. Orrible things!

Nice mate, looks very clean. Don't think I've ever seen a standard car with an engine bay like that.
  6. I think the colour of my car is best for dark coloured alloys: Ah sh*t wrong forum.......
  7. Took my beast to work today. Left really early to avoid the traffic and enjoy the drive, then came back late for the same reasons. Awesome!
  8. Yep ,common upgrade. Along with the 300 brake system.
  9. 4) Yes 5)later models would probably be 94 onwards. I think in 95 they lost the variable valve timing due to emission laws in Japan so unofficially lost some power (not sure how much 20bhp?) 6)Don't be afraid of mods, just look for carefully considered ones that complement each other. If its had a rebuild say 8k or more ago then thats good as its proven. New tubs (seals) are likely to be needed if not there already at that milage. Manual is generally more sort after. Auto box is 1k plus to recon.
  10. Nice one mate, get those anti-roll bars on and it'll be awesome along with the new brakes. Good choice of upgrades!
  11. Thats awesome Si , funny as feck! pictures of fat boy and all!
  12. There's guides on tt.net showing you how to remove all the egr gubbins mate, you can then just block the pipes off.
  13. Nice kill! thought it might be more 'mice torture' photos! :)
  14. I second all the different peoples points! They are word for word what I would suggest as well.
  15. That was what I though when I first replied.
  16. Starter motor is very easy to change. Just a few bolts, a plate, and a connector.
  17. Not much more silly than putting a heffing great front mount intercooler in front of your radiator though as lots do because they look good. Charge temps may be very important but so is engine cooling so I'm not sure it makes all that much difference?? I don't actually know what I'm talking about though :) so maybe I'm completely wrong? Still good side mounts are better IMO on the Zed
  18. In there now mate, nice to show off some memories for me now I spend all day at a computer!
  19. Ah knew I'd heard that name somewhere. I've got some good photo angles from in there, can't really post them on a public forum though, will stick it in the private one.
  20. PMSL! So what is your occupation Gwaps
  21. You got that right matey :) One to drive and one to build.
  22. I reckon I'm a wallet tuner lol! I spent so much blood, time and money trying to make my first zed go in a normal way that I couldn't face the hassle again for a good long while. I've been very lucky to have found first a zed and now an rx7 that someone has already pumped lots of blood, time and money into successfully. Some people like to build them, others like to drive them, its a shame that its often hard to do both at the same time. Ideally once I've got enough money I'll have a 'project' car in the garage and an already highly tuned one on the drive. IMO the best way to buy any enthusiast car is to get one for 5k thats already had 15k spent on it. There's plenty out there if you are switched on and know what to look for. I know the moral side can seem like stealing someones work but in my experience its just that the builder has achieved what they want and are selling it to move onto something else. I'm chuffed that another enthusiast has got my zed, it'll only get better as well because the new owner will be able to spend money on improvements rather than fixing it. Good for the Zed scene.
  23. Ah right, I stand corrected. I'm no expert in these matters just what I've picked up over the few years. So is the the extra kind of fluttering sound on load the bearing? What would detonation sound like then? My first zed died through running lean but I couldn't hear it happening. I like these posts, there's not enough technical posts on the forums these days!
  24. Wow! Thats amazing looking. I wish everything wasn't so expensive here. I'm sure its half the reason we're behind everyone else. We ought to be AHEAD over here seeing as we generally have cooler weather to run in! Have you any idea how the engine stands up to repeated runs? How often does it need fixing? To be honest if its making that much power then I'd expect it to start making even faster times if it could get the power down? The Rx7s over here did a 9.6sec the other week and its probably only running half that power. I think in Australia they are running reguarly in the 8secs with rotary engines. Great to see the VG32DETT getting such awesome times as well, proves it can be done. I think the engine gets unfairly looked upon due to all the problems with the many sheds that are out there. Its obviously a very good engine.
