So sorry to hear about that Vinz, and the other peeps on here. We've lost some close family friends to cancer and it isn't nice, just remember the smiles. I honestly think that our modern lifestyles have a lot to answer for: cosmetics full of dodgy chemicals, processed foods, lack of exercise and polution. I'm sure that one day it will be acknowledged how much these things cause such terrible diseases as cancer.

Completely agree with you Vini :) I just thought it made for interesting discussion. The Japs are far superior at making just about anything, I'm a huge fan of their engineering values. Although I'd be talking sh*te if I said I wouldn't swap a Zed for a half decent ferrari, it would have to be a decent one :-) I met a guy with an older ferrari a few months back (can't remember the model but was the ones you get for about 20k odd) and TBH everything about the zed was better: The bodywork was far superior (ferrari looked very shabby), power was massively better, and going by the shabbyness of the ferrari I'd say the handling was probably much better as well. I was very proud that my 5.5k zed could outshine a £25k ferrari in every way, and the owner knew it as well. Thats what I like so much about the Zed and other Jap cars, a 5k one can outshine a so called supercar :) . Anyhows I'm off for my morning 2 mile swim in the lake haha

Good point what you are getting at, but I was trying to come from a non emotional angle if you know what I mean? purely for discussion sake on the forum really (obviously I love the Zed). I'd say its still very desirable in Japan due to its performance not its brand name?

Isn't that the whole point though? The zed DOESN't outperform a supercar in every way. It goes 0-60 in a straight line almost as fast. It doesn't handle the same , and it doesn't give the same driving experience in many more ways than I understand. Maybe the problem is the term 'supercar' which is b*llocks really? I personally would call a new ferrari, porsche,lambo, etc a supercar ie close to 100k but others say cars of much less value are supercars. A zed would p*ss all over just about any older supercar but thats pretty pointless to me. The Zed has to be the best value performance car around, and was better than most of its contempories at release date but it is what it is - a very high performance ROAD car. My Rx7 eats the zed for breakfast in terms of performance and handling but I'd rather have the Zed for a long journey any day. A 1990-95 porsche 911 is a much better track car than the Zed, I'd say that the Zed is an as good as or better road car though but I've not got the experience to judge. edit - sure I had a point to make there but got lost in my ramblings! I think we should appreciate the cars for what they are :) I'd like to buy a caterham next as it'll go round a track faster than anything else :), wouldn't drive it across the country though.

The 350z is in a much lower price range to the 300zxTT so aimed at a completely different crowd. However if you take a look at performance car magazines reviews they rate it very highly. Its generally considered a little too brutish and performance orientated by the general public to achieve mass appeal. It outhandles the latest Audi TT in this months EVO magazine. I reckon it will be a more successful version of the 300zx which suffered badly from the British markets predjudices. The 350Z seems to have been more recognized as a high performance roadster by the general public than the zed was recognized for what it was in its day( near supercar or whatever?) Also the 350Z will probably age better for the enthusiast of the future due to it not having the twin tubs, so I reckon the Zed marque has a bright future with the enthusiasts. IMO and all that :)

I wouldn't say the 300 is in the same league as the NSX ? no offence like :) the NSX is still highly desirable in Japan even now (hence the difficulty to get them here) whereas the 300 has been left in the shadows somewhat (but lucky us as we get them lots cheaper then :) ) I dont think people appreciate how good a car the zed is anywhere near as much as they should, but unfortunately there's a reason the zed is in the £2-5k price range, skylines £6-35k plus and NSX £15k-big bucks ranges, and its due to a lot more than 0-60 figures.

At the moment I'm arriving on the Friday evening I think, but I might try and change my ferry tickets to the thursday maybe to make it a bit more of a holiday :) Would be good to go for a spin and see the island with someone who knows.

Its £80 for a non-member. The circuit is Jurby: some fast straights, some twisties and lots of run off ! Should be a cracking weekend Pete :) Pretty cheap as well for a weekends worth. We're staying on a campsite.

We'll be doing the circuit and then the TT mountain roads. Its looking likely that we'll be able to get the mountain road closed off for the day :) . Jtuner will be doing a feature so you'll get your car in the magazine. You pay for the ferry ticket yourself and then pay on the rotary forum for the circuit. Its looking like an excellent day. There's vids of last year and it looked amazing. Dave
