  1. So who would you have chosen out of the 6 (yes, only 6) cars that were volunteered for this?
  2. You honestly can't type a statement like that and seriously use the caveat "No offence intended"... I'm hoping Ian has his hood down for the duration, so problem solved.
  3. Are you suggesting that she's... filthy...?
  4. I just had to get rid of those 4" spud-cannons. The biggest problem wasn't the size - it was the fact that they stuck out a little too far and the straight-cut ends gave them the appearance of protruding even further than they actually did. These are much nicer and, I think, suit the car well.
  5. Finally! I have some more suitable tailpipes  3" slash-cut, inwardly rolled... I really should've opted for these in the first place. Still, lesson learned and they're changed now so that makes me happy :) Collecting the newly-painted calipers tomorrow at some point and they should be fitted in time for the NEC. As should my interior.....
  6. For one reason or another, the ring gear on my current XTD fly is completely mangled in places. If anyone remembers me moaning about the grinding starter motor issue I had a while back, it seems that the chewed-up teeth on the ring gear are responsible for that.
  7. Looks like this conundrum has been sorted now, by way of an RPS flywheel for me :thumbup1:
  8. Unless you were on a motorway, that gearknob would be pointless. Imagine the mess once you changed gear a few times.....
  9. Thanks, gang. I had a nice a nice day yesterday, with a couple of exceptions... Went out for a meal last with Mrs Mondo and, on the way home, the exhaust decided to either split or develop a huge hole! This meant the latter half of the return journey was somewhat... noisy... This is in the Celica, by the way :thumbup1: And then, when we got home, I started to feel pretty grotty (polite way of putting it!). Not sure whether it was from the meal or something I'd eaten earlier, but it wasn't the most pleasant hour of my life! All in all though, a nice birthday. Back to the grind properly now!
  10. How on earth are you going to stamp the "Impul" legend into the knob....?
  11. That wouldn't really count as "taking the day off," would it...? That is, however, exactly what I'm doing today though.... :blushing:
  12. This is interesting. On their own website, XTD don't actually seem to list any flywheel options for the Z32.... Are the ones on eBay old stock? Or knock-offs? Anyone got any ideas what the deal is....?
  13. My clutch and flywheel need replacing very soon, so I'm looking for recommendations please. From a financial viewpoint, I'm looking at the XTD kit (with the clutch) but I've heard the odd bad thing about them... can anyone who's either actively running this kit (or has in the past) comment? Or has anyone got a good lightweight flywheel that they need to part with? Thanks. :)
  14. If we liken Zed ownership to a soap opera, then I have a few dangling "plot threads" that I'd like to resolve before my car hits the stand at the NEC next week. First and foremost, the interior. As I said before, I'm partway through retrimming it now - I just need to finish this Lancia Beta Spider off and then I can return to my own cabin. But that's going to be interrupted by... Brakes. My new Brembo front calipers have been stripped of all the seals and pistons and are currently being blasted and then painted in Candy red. Even though the seals and pistons were all in superb condition when I removed them, I've ordered new seal kits anyway. It shouldn't take long to rebuild them and then it's just a case of getting everything fitted and the brakes bled through. That leaves my exhaust, which has been niggling away at me ever since I had it built! The system itself is absolutely fine - I simply chose the wrong tailpipes. The fact that they're straight cut doesn't help with the image that they protrude too far either. So Friday afternoon will see me finally having that issue rectified and the new look should be a little more subtle than four 4" cannons sticking out of the bumper! So there's still plenty to do before next Thursday morning, including giving the entire car a thorough scrubbing (metaphorically speaking). Just not enough hours in the day!
  15. Having recently "upgraded" my front brakes to Brembo calipers, I'm on the lookout for a rear pair to match. The Skyline ones appear to be going for strong money so alternatives need to be considered. I'd read somewhere that Subaru STi rear are a perfect fit on our cars, but does anyone know explicitly which year(s) I should be looking at? Are there any other straight swaps onto our rear hubs? Alternatively, are there any brackets on the market to fit the 350Z rears to a Z32 so there's no requirement to cut and weld one of the mounting lugs on the rear hub? And finally, does anyone know for sure whether a 350Z front flexi line will be suitable for our cars? Obviously, the caliper end will fit perfectly, but will the other end mate up to our fittings...? Cheers!
  16. So what genuine reliable options do we have if we want to upgrade the injectors then?
  17. My current big front brakes are up for sale now. :) The OEM aluminium Z32 calipers were thoroughly cleaned, completely stripped and then painted in Candy Red. The Nissan logo had the paint removed and then everything was lacquered. They had brand new seals and pistons fitted earlier this year as I wanted to future-proof them. Everything works absolutely as it should do. The discs are 325mm x 32mm Brembo discs from a 350Z. These were brand new about 2.5 years ago and have seen maybe 3k miles of use. The caliper brackets were brand new at the same time and have seen the same amount of miles. This kit will come ready to fit, including pads, clips, bolts, pins and washers. The rebuilt calipers and the increased disc size make a noticeable difference to the braking on my car! Only selling as I'm swapping to a Brembo setup. The rear calipers will be up for sale in the near future and, again, these have been completely rebuilt and had brand new seals and pistons fitted earlier this year. If somebody wanted to register their interest for those at the same time, that's fine - it's only the front kit that's up for sale at the moment however. £220 plus delivery :)
  18. Genuine serious question here: why don't you just concentrate your time and money on sorting one car out? Instead of trying to do two? I'm sure there are some serious bragging rights involved in a 17 year old ( ? ) having a pair of Z32s, but you're doing everything on the super-cheap and I honestly don't think it's going to work for you... I mean, what available income do you have to lavish on either of these cars? Are your parents paying for everything? Most students I know of are beyond skint! Focus your attentions on the TT and try and make a half-decent car of it, instead of having all these grand ideas about them both being on the road next year. If your sill looks that bad outside now, I reckon it's going to look horrific inside... and, as you said yourself, that's expensive... You're an intelligent kid, that's obvious. So I'd recommend doing the smart thing and just having a single Zed and be happy with that.
  19. If that rust is your rear sill then I'd expect that to be an instant MOT failure!
  20. I genuinely have to wonder how someone with no obvious form of income can afford to fix not one but two Zeds...? Boggles my mind! Where's that rust situated?
  21. That does look very factory, Andy :thumbup1:
  22. Happy to provide a quote for the retrim if need be :thumbup1:
