  1. Sounds like you might have to choose between the wheels and the brakes, Richie...!! :(
  2. Today, I met JimboSmythe - the guy who bought Lonezedder's SWB. Very nice chap. We had quite a long chat about various Zed-related things and I made him a (probably horrible) cup of coffee after he came here from Wetherby. :) Oh, and we discovered I had a fuel leak too!! Loose jubilee clip on the back of the fuel filter, and it was coming out pretty fast. A few turns of a screwdriver and all's well again though. Could've been unpleasant whilst driving though, as it would've ended up on the passenger side turbo! So make sure to check those fuel line clips, people!! Go and do it now!! :thumbup1:
  3. I hate working with Alcantara (he says, knowing that his own interior is in that stuff)! It's nowhere near as forgiving as leather is, for me anyway. Are you not carrying the theme from the seats over to the rest of the interior...?
  4. One thing I think that people need to bear in mind about His Funkiness is this: other people may spend a fortune on bling and "tacky" stuff for their cars, but he spends that and more on... wait for it... OEM bolts! He even popped my bonnet and changed my nose panel bolts (for some brand new ones) because one of mine was rusty!! He may not like the Zedbed, but he has his own little quirks that are ripe for a ribbing... ;)
  5. Just ignore him. Problem solved. If you don't like what someone writes on here, gloss over it. Honestly........
  6. If someone is going to modify their car - whether it's a simple set of wheels, or a complete ground-up transformation - then they invite opinion by doing so. Especially if they then take it to a public show or post pictures on a public forum. If someone then doesn't like it, let them say so. It's going to make the owner suddenly rethink their entire life and feel like it's all been a waste of time if one person doesn't like what they've done!! There's far too much PC-nonsense around these days where people honestly believe that only a positive opinion is allowed... opinions can be good or bad and should be voiced!
  7. Sounds like he's just sick of throwing money at the car to me.
  8. I have to say that this is the first time I've ever heard of one box being longer than the other. Everything I've either read or been told by the likes of Jimmer and Lee Dent is that the boxes are identical aside from the bellhousing (internally).
  9. ORLY? How come the boxes are interchangeable between NAs and TTs then? Hmmm...?
  10. Nope. Your retrim is business, mate - this is for personal use. :thumbup1:
  11. 1. Richie K 2. Nemesiz 3. TonyB 4. Mondo
  12. You're right actually, Gary - those pictures prove that it's definitely not up there with the finest on here at all.... :glare:
  13. The title might seem like an odd question, but bear with me. :) At the Coventry AGM this year, everyone was walking around with sheets of paper and pens, marking down the Zed that they felt topped out in each individual category. I got talking to quite a few people and a few of them asked me the same question: "What about Gary's car?" Maybe it's just me but, when I think of a really clean and incredibly tidy Zed, I'll think of Si's car. Or Joel's. Or Dougal's. Or AndrewG's. I suppose they're the "obvious" examples. But Gaz's Zed always seems to fly under the radar, at least in my opinion. And I think I know why... He doesn't promote it. You have people like me (for example) who'll retorque the wheel nuts, and post a handful of pictures to reinforce the point  but Gaz doesn't really post that many pictures of his car. Which is a rather large shame, because it's an absolute beauty!! So c'mon, folks... let's hear it for Mr Wilson's rather delectable red Shortie. And let's hope he starts to post some more pictures in the future so we can all appreciate it. :thumbup1:
  14. Not one advisory this time around!! A totally clean bill of health for the old girl! The tester was very impressed with her overall condition and said she's a credit to me. :) All done for another year :thumbup1:
  15. MOT day! 11am, to be precise. The couple of advisories from last year have been rectified so I'm hoping it's gonna be a clean bill of health this morning....! :sweatdrop:
  16. I'm the first to admit that I don't know a great deal about turbos, so I'm far from qualified to comment on this topic with any real conviction. That said, I've just come across a post from 2010 that may have a bearing on Jeff's discussion: Link. The salient point is, I believe, the part I've quoted below: As I said, my knowledge regarding turbos is limited at best, but I thought this was worth mentioning here as it seems pertinent to the discussion about why OEM turbos seem to last so long and aftermarket ones don't... :thumbup1:
  17. Did anyone else get an email yesterday from the JAE organisers? I did, and it basically said "the weather and turnout have been a bit crap this year, so why not come down on Sunday and just pay £15...?" Had a bit of a chuckle as I deleted it.....
  18. This doesn't surprise me one bit...
  19. Welcome aboard! :thumbup1:
  20. I'd be very surprised if it sells for that kind of price. I'd love it to, don't get me wrong... I just don't think the market's quite at that level yet.....
  21. UK Zed for £20k! I'm not bashing it or saying it's explicitly not worth it... but that's a helluva price.... Their sales pitch is a little odd though:
  22. It's taken long enough to get to a point where I can say that I'm happy with it, so this is a bit of a milestone for me :)
  23. I decided to spend this afternoon messing around with my instrument cluster and pods as I wasn't happy with the lighting. This'll be about my fifth attempt but, some LEDs and filters later, I think I might've cracked it at last: Aside from an additional filter on the redline part of the tachometer (to make it as red as the fuel and temperature gauges), I think that's about as good as it gets. The camera seems to have made the gauges appear brighter than they are in real life - they're not that overpowering when viewed in person! Just a nice even spread of white light, with a splash of red in strategic places. Happy Mondo at last! :thumbup1:
  24. I may just buy some new ones from Z1 yet. We'll see....
