giving up smoking.
A mate of mine got an app to quit. He put in how many he smoked a day and it starts ticking up money you have saved. Seemed to help him. He saved like, 700 quid and bought a mountain bike then he was sorted.

Is that a big piece of vac formed plastic or are they real bits?

i was due of the rig this morning
Didn't realise you worked offshore, I was in Aberdeen yesterday doing the dunker, it was like a sausage factory, a massive queue of oil and gas workers waiting to practice drowning!

turbo problem
Well its out of my knowledge mate, but your incorrectly set up wastegates idea makes sense to me. Good luck hopefully it is something daft.

Welded diff VS HICAS
Stand by for a Tom Wilson wiring diagram lol! Not exactly the front of a Haynes manual but its done on a phone! Think thats all it took. Float down outputs 12v

Welded diff VS HICAS
Haha it was Yowsers Idea. I made a meal of it but it wasn't complicated, I worked it out with a multimeter and sliding the float up and down. I think all it took was bridging the 2 wires that go into/out of the pot with a massive loop going into the car. But it even lights up the HICAS light as if it was designed to be done :-) Ill pm you some stuff on it in the next few days.

Welded diff VS HICAS
I have put a switch into the power steering reservoir fluid level circuit, and wired it into a rocker switch on the dash. I can turn my HICAS on and off from corner to corner. Wasn't hard to do, tell it it's run out of fluid and it locks the HICAS (so long as the suspension arms and bushes are still firm) you have a regular locked back end. I like HICAS for driving fast, for driving sideways I flick the switch and drifting is then in easy mode (easier).

turbo problem
Sounds like safety boost to me? Have you checked for ECU error codes there are a load of discussions on here about it?

My custom MX5 induction kit
Thanks guys :-) once I notice some inefficient design it does my head in, even if i'm only losing 1/2 a mpg or bhp. Such long pipework taking air from the exhaust heatshield is daft! My thoughts on mx5s, what Roobarb said is right I have known 3 have siezed rear brakes, they all rust but the mk2s/2.5s more than the others. The 1.6 is the best engine, the 1.8 feels stiff to me, the 6 speed is more clumsy than the 5 speed and doesn't really save any fuel. They handle really well, they have high levels of grip and you can't really slide them about in the dry. But all in all they are great. If it could be found a mk2.5, 1600 5 speed with a Tom Wilson Induction kit, straight through 4-2-1 exhaust, strut braces and chassis braces, braided brake lines to standard brakes but with grippy colourstuff pads and a LSD would be wicked. That would be fairly quick and you would be able to skip the tail about a bit. Purple ones are faster. Hollings, do it, get a cheap one dying of rust with 11 months MOT and nail it about for a year, they're a right giggle.

My custom MX5 induction kit
I can't help modifying cars sometimes, the new mazda has been given some growl with an induction kit. My last one had a Typhoon K&N kit but they now cost £250! Sod that I thought so for under £50 I have made this... I was inspired by some other guy online who basically did the same thing so can't take all the credit but it required a bit more than slipping on pipes and jubilee clips. Here is the K&N for comparison of pipework length and proximity to the exhaust. I firstly removed all the stock stuff, and peeled back the loom to get some more mobility on the MAF wiring and the Air temp sensor. Removed the breather line and replace with the little filter. Slightly re-routed a radiator coolant hose to make maximum mushroom room. Then it was just slipping pipes together I spose. It wasn't hard but It has been really rewarding, I sized the job up, went online to ASH and ordered my own pick and mix induction kit, I put it on and it works! It sounds great and whether it is any more powerful I don't know, but that wasn't really the point, it certainly isn't any slower or less responsive, it doesn't hiss at all on idle like some can and it grumbles like a V8 past half throttle. Look at all this crap I removed P.S. I will tidy up that pink wiring, can anyone see anything wrong with what I have done, I wondered if it would reduce torque or something but doesn't feel that way, I don't fully understand intake tract lengths  Anyway, it's wicked :thumbup1:
